Kroger can take orders but they cannot hold orders. I normally don’t shop here. I stopped shopping here 4 years ago but I really needed the items. Don’t shop here until the management is replaced by responsible people who want your business.

A disappointing experience at Kroger this week and not the normal (out of stock or not enough help). Complete lack of customer service from management. I was supposed to get a call the next day regarding an issue this past Friday. I called on Saturday left a message. Four days later (which is today) I still hear nothing. I grab my shopping list and head to Kroger. Asked the customer service person at the front desk regarding the issue and still wasn't resolved. It's hard to spend money with a business when you don't trust them. Taking my list to Food Lion.

The location is convenient while running errands. When an employee sees an elderly employee, they assist them into the store. The produce section has a decent selection. The bakery had lots of choices. The ice cream cakes were nice. We were having a celebration. There were nice drinking glasses with "Smith Mt. Lake" printed on them. The employees were helpful when I wasn't sure where an item was located.

This is the only place I grocery shop now. The location (for me) is super convenient. The store is clean and of course they have a great variety of food. The produce here is fresh year-round. The staff is helpful and polite. The store is insanely packed (like everywhere else) in the summer, so heads up if you go on the weekends! They also did AMAZINGLY during the entire pandemic.

I find the produce at my local Kroger (Westlake, Hardy VA) is constantly sub-standard and I always have to sort through to throw out the rotten stuff before I put it in my refrigerator as soon as get home from shopping.

I’ve had numerous bad experiences with the Westlake Kroger but the incident today has led to this post. We had custom steaks cut for a very special meal our family was planning for a celebration. Upon arriving home, over 30 minutes away, we discovered that our steaks were not placed in the grocery bags with the other groceries. We contacted the store manager who only offered up a half hearted apology and a gift card. Westlake Kroger needs a nearby competitor and perhaps someone will pay more attention to customer service. For now, it’s Food Lion for me and local butcher shops.

First off, those criticizing management for the actions of d*** customers during COVID don't get out much. Try the hardware store, convenience stores, and gas stations. Everything outside Roanoke is like the Wild West. Don't blame Kroger management for this. If they challenged everyone without a mask they wouldn't have time to do anything else. We wear masks, keep our distance, go the opposite way down an aisle to avoid clueless customers, and wash our hands before and after a visit. You can't fix some stuff, though. Secondly, we travel a lot and this is one of the best grocery stores in an area of its size we've ever seen. Great selection and helpful people. Enjoyed it during our eight weeks in the area. We will be back and we will look forward to visiting this store again. Hope this mask debate eventually becomes unnecessary. Happy New Year!

I was shocked to see how many people were walking around without a mask, and no Kroger employees saying anything about it. People were not practicing any sort of social distancing in the isles walking up and down every which way. And finally at the self check out a woman next to me was not wearing a mask and monopolizing the one employees time basically having him do the check out for her. She turned to talk to me and I backed up telling her to put on a mask. Immediately she went ballistic and started telling me she had medical condition and that I was not going to impede on her constitutional right of free assembly. I thought OMG what is this nutcase talking about . I'm not sure with the lawyers in Virginia but the store employees need to do something about this. They also need to close the center self check out to allow for better social distancing.

Took a ride over to Westlake (~35-40 minutes) to shop at Kroger and it was worth it. I love Food Lion, but Kroger has a much larger selection. From fresh produce, to block cheese, bakery items, and a meat counter, their food options are endless. They also have a section with kitchen gadgets and small appliances like air fryers, crockpots, and coffee makers. Worth the drive if you aren't relatively close by.

This is a great and very well stocked grocery store. However the whole attitude about the pandemic and anti-masking does not set well with this long time customer. They really need to understand the mask is an unselfish act of protecting other people especially your customers. I saw several customers with no masks and I blame management for not enforcing. Stop being selfish and wear the mask and until you do customers need to show with their wallet.

I was appalled. Today the 14 November I went to Kroger and the lack of mask wearing was awful. Even some of the staff were wearing masks under their chin. There were six people at the deli counter without a mask. Obviously Kroger doesn't care about public health. Not going back.

This is for the deli- we are in the pandemic with face masks required and the guy in the deli has his pulled down to his neck and was about to cut my cheeses - breathing all over them. I said no thanks! He was also really huffy, like I inconvenienced him my asking him to cut cheese for me. As for the store: They do have a good craft beer selection but recommend if you want proper Covid protection, friendly staff and good boars head meats and cheeses go to Ingles in Kingsport

My husband had an incident there early June where an employee hit him in the head with a case and he had to go to emergency room. There has been no contact from Kroger, no empathy, nothing. We tell everyone we meet how horrible that store has become and advise tourist to not shop there.
