Absolutely fantastic! I got the chicken and waffles and it was probably the best I've ever had, and it'll take something extremely special to top this one. Loved the cayanne syrup. Mom had the pulled pork, and said it was really good (but debatable on whether or not it was worth $20) I recommend the place nonetheless.

We sat at the bar for our dinner. Monica was our bartender/server and she is wonderful. Food was excellent I had the Mahi Mahi and my husband had the salmon. While the salmon portion was a little small, it was cooked perfectly and tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The Caesar salad is also very tasty. Highly recommend this local gem.

The bread was pretty good. The shrimp were greasy, the prime rib was tough and fatty, but it did have good flavor. The baked potatoes' skins were burnt and could have been cooked a week ago. The grill room was SOOOO LOUD
that we couldn't begin to carry on a conversation. We asked to be moved to the dining room and that request was denied. The restaurant is very expensive and CERTAINLY not worth it! The waitress was not attentive and was BUSY with her friends at the bar.
We will CERTAINLY never go there again!!!

We had only been to Blackwater Cafe once over the past several years and when the restaurant we went to was surprisingly closed, we pivoted. And we are glad.
We were seated right away (it's after Labor Day) and our server, Dale, was right over to take our drink orders. As she brought those, we were ready to order.
Entrees were Prime Rib sandwich, Pasta Bolognese, Chicken Alfredo and Chicken & Waffles. Everyone commented about how good everything was. It was so good we were even tempted by the desserts, which is rare for us.
For example, the cayenne maple syrup was so good with the Chicken & Waffles- better than hot honey, especially on the sweet potato Waffles.
We say on the bar side. More relaxed than the dining room and you can catch sports.
I know we will go more frequently.

Basically, their attitude. I ordered a basic medium rare burger. it was well done. The waitstaff said she'd tell the cook/chef. No offer of discount, free wine, taking it back to the kitchen. When we left the manage t was sitting at the bar drinking. he asked how our food was and we told him our burgers were both over done. No apology. He basically said that if we ate it,it couldn't have been that bad. Very rude.
Just as girls being silly, having so much fun

First time to go there. Service was good but took forever to get the food and then it was mediocre at best. Way over priced! Probably won’t go there again.
We were treated well by Darlene...our friends were celebrating and she made it very special for them.

Food is always good, especially Thursdays Prime Rib night. Seasonal Salad is one of the best @ SML.
Monica / Bartender is always smiling and remembers you, as do just about all the waitstaff.

So disappointing. Some friends from our neighborhood (6 of us) went to BWC to eat specifically in the grill area on a Wednesday night. They open at five we arrived at six, plenty of time to get a table in the grill. (They do not take reservations). There were 2 4 tops and another large round table available in the grill. They refused to put the two tables together for us and insisted we eat in the dining room side which, is like a nursing home. The host and the owner were rude and unaccommodating.Yet two couples came after us and they sat them at the 2 4 tops?! We’ve been coming here on and off for 30 years but, to be honest it’s old and dated. Napoli on the lake (down the road) is a much better option,

Would highly recommend the Blackwater Burger
Found this place by looking for highly rated restaurants in the area after going for a swim at the lake. Truffle fries and bread were very good, steak and pasta was very mediocre. Waitress was not very attentive but she may have been split between restaurant side and grill side (we were on the grill side and every other table around us had one waitress while we were the only table with a different one). Vibes were kind of off, we noticed other tables being offered specials that we were not and a lot of focus was put on customers that were called out as regulars.

This place is great, very cute, and the food is outrageous. Literally everything we ordered was incredible. We got takeout, and everything was packaged separately so nothing got soggy, and they even included instructions on how best to heat up the dessert we got.
