Food was delicious and service was excellent.
Superb
So much to say in so little space. First our server was very apologetic and sincere. We ordered drinks to start, no rum, no vodka, no presseco, there goes half their cocktail menu, we ordered an appetizer and soup. The soup and all our dinners came out at once, our appetizer never came. Our bills were switched with the table next to us, I really think the other table switched before we were seated, there was a unruly family next to the table we were sat at.
The food was ok, definately had better in the area, complete shane for such great potential and expectations.
I called for a reservation day of and the hostess treated me like I was ridiculous for asking for a reservation. I told her that I understood and appreciated her picking up the phone, and her response was to hang up on me. How much effort does it take to be kind and say “Thank you for calling and we hope to see you on another day?” Very disappointing.
This was a nice break after a long day exploring Mount Vernon. We had a reservation (highly recommend) but stood at the hostess stand for 15 minutes while they tried to figure out seating for a large group with no reservation. Even when they finally left with that party they never acknowledged us and I had to speak up about our reservation. Maybe they were flustered with trying to appease the larger group I'm not sure. The waitress was wonderful. Food was pretty good. I do not recommend the steak frites which was recommended to me. The steaks were tough not cooked the way I ordered and the frites were large potato wedges. It was quite noisy but I think it was mostly because of the small children we were sat close to in a small room.
Cherry pie is the best here
everything about our time at the inn was great as always. my wife and i have held many celebrations there and we have always had great memories of those times
Overall a great experience. The menu was diverse, and the food was good. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Only issue was getting refills on water. I asked the waiter a few times, but it never came. It was very hot outside and water was served warm, and I was not able to get the waiter to refill our carafe.
Turkey pie and shrimp & grits were a bit over salted but otherwise flavor was good. Biscuit in Turkey pie was very dry and almost hard. Kid's Mac & cheese was very bland. Fries were lackluster. The kids eat free on Tuesdays offer does not include flank steak kids meal (this was not clear on the website)
Everything was wonderful! The Bacon Jam Burger was phenomenal and the chicken and waffles are a wonderful full meal.

We were seated in a back room by gift shop. It lacked all the ambience of what we saw in the pics. Not sure how you get into main dining room that is so lovely. We asked, they said no.
We had a lovely server, Stephen. He was very attentive to our table. We waited about 15-20 minutes for our table, and I would HIGHLY suggest making reservations ahead of time (I do not think 15-20 minutes is a long wait time, its standard, however a reservation makes life easier). The food was delicious. I had the crab cake sandwich with chips, and it was lovely.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant...from the Fried Green Tomatoes starter, the sandwiches, my husband had the Triple Decker and I had loved my Crab Cake sandwich, through to dessert and the Best bread pudding EVER! One of the highlights accompanying the sandwiches were the still warm house made potato chips...yummy!!! Our server, Lynn, was so warm, friendly and helpful...what a treasure!!! Look forward to returning for another delicious dining experience sometime soon!!!
Easily one of my favorite restaurants. The dishes are fantastic and one-of-a-kind and the atmosphere is the same. Bacon jam burger, fried chicken and waffles or trout, it's all good!
Our table asked for Mike, the manager, who came as we bragged on our server who was excellent.
