Enjoyed dinner at the Inn after a day of touring Mount Vernon. Our group of 4 had cornbread, butternut squash soup, chicken and waffles, and shrimp and grits, All of us enjoyed our food and the quiet atmosphere. Great service too. I highly recommend.

I had crab vegetable soup that tasted like vegetable soup out of a can. They don't even serve bread. Just a disappointing dining experience. I thought it was strange that the waitress stood over you as you chose the tip amount on the payment machine.
Delightful start to our trip to Mount Vernon Estate at the Inn. We were seated in a lovely small room beautifully decorated in the colonial style. Our server, Zach, was very prompt and we ordered Sauvignon blanc from the wine list, a nice selection of medium level wines. Zach gave us just enough time between courses to enjoy our meal. The garden side salad was large enough to split and the champagne vinaigrette was delicious. The menu is varied with a nice choice of sides. But both entrees, the turkey pot pie and crab cakes were not served hot. We ordered a second wine, an albarino, which was good, and a viognier which was not chilled enough. Minor details in an otherwise nice evening.
Mt Vernon Inn has gone downhill since my last visit a few years ago. Crabcake was tiny. Steak ordered medium rare was well done and tough. Server kept trying to rush us.
It's a sweet place and we loved when the performers would come and play for the kids. But the food was subpar at best and we never even got asked if we wanted a refill till we decided we wanted to leave.
The food was fantastic, as always. Our server was not the most polite. An older gentleman. He seemed annoyed that I was a member and had a member discount and was also dining with my mother who is a volunteer at MV. He made sure to circle the bill total and stated to us that the tip should reflect the full amount, not the discounted amount. He wasn't kind or attentive enough to receive any tip let alone comment on how much he should receive. Obnoxious in my opinion.

Had lunch, shrimp and grits were excellent. Nice ambience. Service was very good. Arrived about 45 minutes before reservation and was able to be seated. Overall a great dining experience!
I am gluten free, celiac. The menu was clearly marked. We both had the short ribs with mashed potatoes and green beans, it was delicious. Service was great!
1 person taking care of the bar and multiple tables at the same time. Had to find him to get our bill!!
Four of us attended early dinner on a Sunday afternoon at the Mt. Vernon Inn. Three of us ordered medium rare filet mignon while the 4th ordered shrimp and grits. The beef was perfectly cooked and very tender-the shrimp and grits were amazing!
Best food I've had in a long time and my friends hollandsise sauce was perfect - not too tart and just right. Kudos to the chef. We were well satiated.
