“I will open with this; GW would be PROUD. The Mount Vernon Restaurant, compared to the thought of what it might be, is nothing short of a quaint and elegant establishment. For a restaurant embedded in a museum one would imagine the many grab and go or poor service options found in many if not all of the DC attractions nearby, but rest assured this is not that. The prices are affordable. The food is delicious. The service is wonderful. My only complaint? I was not expecting the shear amount of food coming my way. The chicken and waffles were simple and astounding. My partner's shrimp and grits were, in her words, "just like ma momma used to whip up!" The cornbread appetizer was fresh. Our drinks, neat and clean. The list goes on. I should also add that the menu was overwhelming... in a great way. I could hardly contain my giddiness when attempting to make my choice. If you are exploring the beauty of Mount Vernon with family or friends, or even on your lonesome, you have NO excuse to bypass this overachieving establishment.”

We've tried almost everything on the menu and we have never been disappointed. Eating in is great but seating is limited. Delivery is always packed well and still warm. “First time here on a Friday night. We had reservations that were mixed up. Even though the restaurant was expected to be full they accommodated the 6 of us. The owner came over to greet us. I told him that this was my first visit. (Everyone else had been several times) Oh then he proceeded to bring bite size samples for me to try. He then offered up suggestions as to what I need to have for an appetizer, main course and even dessert. Food bursts with flavor. But the real experience here was the service. First class. “One of the newest cocktail bars on King street!This place is super cool and has a bit of a speakeasy vibe.We only got cocktails but they were all super good and unique. One of the bartenders, Andres, who was making our drinks used to work at a Michelin star bar and really showed it.He even made us custom cocktails when asked and was very nice to talk to.The atmosphere is very cute and very Instagrammable.The only thing is you have to use wifi because the bar is underground and there's no signal but other than that will definitely be going back.”

“I did a take out of their delicious Aloo and piyaz pakoras for our Iftari a week or so ago. The packaging was great which included a generous amount of their tasty green chutney. I glanced at their menu main items and their prices seemed high. Manager/owner and helper were polite and friendly. Great efficient service. Good restaurant atmosphere. I wish them success with their new desi restaurant.”

Also don’t forget to ask for extra Shawarma sauce on the side!Service was attentive, and they definitely let customers customize their orders to get what they want. The down side with more options is it can take a little longer to get your food. That said, the service was still reasonably timely, and I’d definitely come back.Parking: This location is inside the mall, so parking can be tricky at popular times.”

“Truly delicious! Visited Alexandria and noticed there are lots of ice cream shops to get a scoop you could get at home, but we wanted something special. Goodies is it! We tried the brownie sandwich sundae, the apple donut sandwich with homemade caramel sauce and the Oreo sundae. All were fantastic and my family loved them! Very nice outdoor seating area in a great location. Brandon (the owner) was really helpful and friendly. There was a bit of a line on a sunny Sunday afternoon, but it moved quickly and was so worth the wait. FYI, it was cash only. We'll be back for sure!”

It was my first time here found them on uber eats and went to pick it up cause it was cheaper. Can't wait to try there all beef traditional pho. I've literally been to a majority of pho places in there area this was is top quality. The restaurant name bistro speaks for itself.”

“Very rich and tasty food! Didn't have to wait long for food either. Got the chicken korma,mutton, and chicken biryani. Meat was well seasoned and biryani was tasty. It's a Pakistani/Indian restaurant so it has all the usual favorites and it also has Karahi. Definitely recommend trying this place out!”

The menu is interesting with a good variety. My salad was delicious and so large that I took half of it home for another meal as I saw others doing as well. Calamari preparation can range from horribly rubbery and tasteless, to just “meh,” or to what Carlyle has done with it - fried to perfection, with complementary flavors in the sauces and corn salsa- for the win!I ordered the smoked salmon on my first visit two years ago, and because it was so tastefully prepared, I couldn’t bring myself to try another dish. It is just delicious.Hubby ordered crab cakes, along with coleslaw and shoestring fries. Crab cakes were meaty and flavorful. Sides were good.Atmosphere and service are good.
