Outstanding! Great food and service! Loved the Martha Washington Sour cocktail! Wonderful server!
We decided to get lunch here and were glad we did on our visit the week before the 4th. The place was very busy yet we were seated and our drink orders taken quickly.
We ordered our food and enjoyed our drinks talking about our day when our food arrived. I got the usual cheeseburger while the wife ordered shrimp and grits. Oh, I shouldn't forget my side of succotash.
Everything tasted great, the food was well done and delicious. Wife could not finish her dinner while I did...read full review

The Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant offers a unique colonial atmosphere, attracting a mix of local and tourist clientele. Known for its delicious shrimp and grits, jambalaya, and traditional bread pudding, the restaurant provides a memorable step back in time experience. The setting can be lively and noisy during busy times, but recent visits have highlighted a comfortable and quiet dining area, especially for mid-week lunches. Service is attentive, with friendly staff who greet guests warmly. However, some recent reviews mention that the politeness of certain servers can vary, with some guests feeling uncomfortable with the service.
While some dishes may be a bit dry and the eggs, home fries, and toast received mixed reviews, recent guests have enjoyed meals like peanut soup, fried green tomatoes, and the superb grouper. The crabcake and steak frites were noted as serviceable, and the bread pudding continues to be a highlight. Though there have been concerns about food temperature, particularly with the turkey pot pie and crab cakes, visitors appreciate the varied menu and nice choice of sides. Despite some issues with food quality and fewer choices than before, visitors often enjoy walking around the grounds before dining and appreciate the pleasant environment. Overall, it remains a popular spot for both lunch and brunch, though the quality of the food can vary.
