Iron & Ale at Wintergreen Resort

Made a reservation for our anniversary at 6:30pm. They left a VM at 6 saying they were closing early for kitchen maintenance!! Unplanned!!! Rubbish! Have never been and will never go!!

We stood in lobby for 10 minutes with no service. We were seen but no one came to seat us. Left after 15 minutes

Great service nice spot on the golf course- great Mountain views.
We started with delicious house sals. Then had the salmon, filet and chicken Mornay Florentine
We all enjoyed our selections!

Always a great experience at Iron & Ale at Wintergreen. The atmosphere and staff create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that is great for catching up with friends and meeting new ones. The food is consistently good and specials are interesting and elevated. Highly recommend!

Bartenders we awesome!, friendly and made our experience that much better!!! We mainly had drinks and had a party of 11.

Iron and Ale closed a huge void in the Wintergreen Stoney Creek community. During Covid years we had no place to go for a great meal and/or a drink. I&A filled that void with great food, drink, and a friendly atmosphere. Wade and Tabitha have become part of the fabric of our community and we greatly appreciate their efforts. I challenge members of our community to dine in at least once a month to ensure their success.

The short rib special was delicious! The chef, Ben, was kind enough to offer tomorrow's special to our group tonight. Beautifully prepared and incredibly tasteful. The meal was enhanced by the excellent service provided by our server, Spenser to ir group of five.

We had an absolutely amazing meal here! It was so good, we asked the chef, Ben to come out so we could complement him and his staff on the wonderful job they did. They are a great place to eat in Stoney Creek or Nellysford!

My partner and I chose Iron & Ale for a date night and were met with one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had in years.
From the moment we walked in, the service set the tone. The host was seated and on their phone, offering no real greeting. At the bar, we ordered cocktails and oysters Rockefeller, which arrived undercooked and inedible. When we politely let the bartender know they weren’t for us, she responded with visible irritation, gave us a dirty look, removed the plate without asking what was wrong, and walked away.
We later ordered entrées. My Alfredo was passable. My boyfriends steak, however, was severely overcooked, unseasoned, and contained hair. When he mentioned the issue, the bartender rolled her eyes while taking the steak back — notably leaving the rest of the plate behind, resulting in cold sides that also had hair in them.
The replacement steak was no better: still overcooked, visually unappetizing, and once again containing hair. When this was brought to the bartender’s attention, the response was another eye roll and removal of the plate — no apology, no concern, no accountability.
Throughout all of this, the manager sat at the end of the bar and never once checked on us, despite multiple dishes being sent back. That lack of leadership was just as disappointing as the food itself. Being in the food service industry for multiple years, we would expect a higher quality of service when so many issues arise. Mind you- we never complain or send food back bc of our past in the industry.
We left hungry with a $100 bill and no intention of returning. In eight years together — and dining out several times a week — we have never experienced service and food quality this poor.
I strongly recommend choosing a different restaurant. Even a short drive up the road to another establishment would be a far better use of your time and money. We will never return but thank you for taking the steak and oysters off of the bill.

This family of 4 thoroughly loved our dinner here! The food was delicious and served in generous portions in a warm and cozy atmosphere. What a gem in the Stoney Creek area of Wintergreen!
