Amaro Italian Bistro & Cocktails

This place is nothing short of amazing. Everything we had including the experience was great.

The appetizer and entrees were very good. Would have had this place at 5 stars if that was all we had, but unfortunately after the meal it fell down a bit. The tiramisu was disappointing in regards to the absence of espresso soaking the lady fingers. It effectively just tasted like mascarpone. This makes sense when the cappuccino and espresso that we also ordered are taken into account. It was in no way either of those drinks. It was simply a small quantity of regular coffee, one with milk added. It is evident that they do not make, have, or provide proper espresso or espresso based drinks. Sad to pass it off that way and makes sense why espresso wasn't in the tiramisu.

Other small pet peeves, my 'spaghetti' that should have come with scallops had none and they didn't have the cheesecake, which wasn't mentioned until I attempted to order it, instead of giving us the heads up at the top of the meal.

OMG..... Excellence all around. I was with a group of 12. We all had different entrees and each was good. Drinks, appetizers, pizza, alcohol...... Service was great. Shout out to Promise, our server. Couldn't have had such a great night without her.

I can sum this up as a Wow!!! From the moment you step into this bespoke restaurant, you know you are in good hands. From the highly skilled and knowledgeable servers to the sommelier… to the phenomenal food they serve. It’s is unbelievably good. We had outstanding meals and excellent wines during our two visits to this hidden gem. If quality food, outstanding service and great wines is your passion then this is a MUST DO!!

Let me start off by saying, im very disappointed in this Italian restaurant. No stars are what they deserve. I frequent Steak and Tonic (Sister location)very often and on there recommendation I tried Amaro's Italian Bistro. First off the ambiance was awesome the reservation was quick and easy. Secondly The food was aweful. Third I always drink smoked bourbon but this particular night they could not get the smoker working. I ordered chicken and shrimp Alfredo at first but changed the chicken out for steak, my steak was burnt, charred so bad it left a bad taste in my mouth. Instead of recooking it they brought it out to me with what they call a glaze on it for more flavor. I asked my server do they always put glaze on the steak for the alfredo she said no it was just for more flavor. My stomach was in shambles for the next two days. Lastly me and my bestie will not be returning our bill was 177. Waste of money for a single parent of 4. Don't waste your time. Will be sharing my tiktok soon with videos of the disgusting food. Wish I could upload pictures of my steak so you guys can see the disrespectfulness.

Place is nasty I saw a roach there on the wall..I called the head waiter over to look at it, and he killed it with his finger. THEN HE LIED AND SAID IT WASN'T A ROACH . He then reached over my food after he killed the roach and said it was a gnat. The other waiter who was unkepted, unshaven took forever to give us food and drink. I didn't pay for nothing and left. ....oh and the food presentation on the plate didn't look good either the chicken was a little overcooked noodles were good.
THE place is way overpriced.

I took my husband at Amaro for dinner and he had (and of course me as well) had an amazing time! Nathelia (our waitress) took an amazing care of us and accommodated our dietary restrictions fully! Clayton was also very nice to offer wine and great drink recommendations. We both enjoyed our night here and highly recommend this place to you all!

First time trying this place out , the service was exemplary ,very attentive and knowledgeable. The food was consistently good all the way around . Nathellia was an excellent server and so was the gentleman who was helping her .

Came in with high hopes and was sadly let down. We spent our meal fending off fruit flies. Ordered the prosciutto & fig pizza which arrived with no prosciutto. Not quite sure how the chef misses a main ingredient. We had to search for our waitress and ended up flagging down another staff member for assistance. They ended up sprinkling some prosciutto on top. Thankfully another waiter topped off our waters, because our waitress was MIA. A 20% tip was automatically included. Not the most pleased to pay over $70 for greasy cheese pizza, dry fig pizza, and poor service.

This was way more than I expected for a restaurant in Newport News. I did not realize that in Town Center there were such great establishments like this. The staff was exceptional in answering our questions and providing service at just the right moment. Atmosphere was very nice and the background music was low enough that we could have a conversation and not try to talk over it.
We had the calamari as an appetizer followed by the wheel fettuccine Alfredo with a steak. Such great flavors in everything. No salt and pepper on the tables, as you don't really need them as everything was seasoned to perfection in my opinion.
Definitely a sleeper hit here in Newport News, give it a try.

Our first time here, unfortunately was a sad disappointment. We went in search of an authentic spaghetti to none in which we found. For the price, I had hoped for the flavour and quality to be better. The best thing was the Smoked Black Manhattan.

Staff was super attentive and took great care of us. The food was on course for the cost and I finished every little bit off my plate. Our drinks never went empty and the entire environment was very welcoming. We will be back and let other know to try out this place.
