DO NOT EAT HERE based on service. Walked in for late lunch today, was told my clearly marked service dog was not allowed. I informed her ADA allows my service animal access (legitimately trained with a vest).
We sat down and staff member said "owner does not allow dogs inside". We politely told her she was a service dog and she had a vest. Conversation then progressed to "even service dogs" (ADA VIOLATION!). I tried to educate her of what she was allowed to ask....read full review
went with 4 others for lunch. we had an hour and it took almost that long to get our food much less have time to eat! even though it was lunch, portion size was miniscule. I ordered a Caesar salad with shrimp. I received a salad sized plate with lettuce, a few shreds of parmesan and 4 shrimp that weren't even deveined!! I paid $20 for this salad; he shrimp were $1.50 each and we're about medium in size. One of my lunchmates ordered a chicken and avocado sandwich that came with...read full review
$15 Frozen hamburger patty and it was cold when it finally arrived an hour plus after ordering.
Waitress made no apologies and would forget stuff after asking for things.
Brings 1 plate at a time and most were almost done by the time mine came out.
Very disappointing. Will not return.

Gastro at 23rd is a small, yet inviting establishment offering a unique dining experience with a great atmosphere and friendly service from staff. The menu features tasty options like crazy Asian wings, burgers, sweet potato fries with phenomenal dipping sauce, and standout dishes like the grilled chicken with Brussels sprouts and mac and cheese. The chef clearly puts love into their cooking, resulting in exceptional meals, including the best mac and cheese in the area.
Guests also enjoy plant-based options like cauliflower wings and salmon salad, along with hearty sandwiches such as the BLT and Turkey Club. The portions are plentiful, and the homemade chips are popular. The food is excellent for both dine-in and takeout, with dishes like the herb shrimp appetizer and Nashville hot chicken sandwich receiving praise. The interior is clean and comfortable, with a cool vibe, and the prices are very reasonable. The staff, especially server Bre, are attentive and skilled, making sure needs are met without being overbearing.
While the wings are generally good, they can be a bit too salty, and their flavors like lemon pepper or Old Bay are sometimes not very noticeable, suggesting they could benefit from some adjustments. The drinks, including mermaid water, lemon drop, mango margarita, and strawberry margarita, are excellent choices. The cauliflower bites and fried salmon bites are also enjoyable, with a pleasant level of spice on the cauliflower.
Despite some issues with service related to ADA and service dog questions, the overall experience highlights Gastro at 23rd as a great spot for a tasty meal and a relaxed atmosphere, with easy parking and wheelchair accessibility. It remains a place worth visiting to enjoy good food and a welcoming environment.
