If I could give this place no stars I would. My husband and I are born and raised Ghanaians— so we are very well aware of what authentic Ghanaian dishes should taste like. We recently just moved to Hampton and have been looking for authentic African restaurants to try. We spent over a hundred dollars to try different dishes. The most disappointing restaurant to have wasted our money on. We were told the food would be ready in an hour. It had been two hours and it still was not ready when we arrived. The jollof rice tasted burnt. The “Coleslaw” was dry. The plantain tasted old. The stew for the jollof rice smelled and tasted spoiled. The rice balls/peanut butter soup and the banku/okra stew gave my husband and I diarrhea. Such a huge disappointment. Never will we be eating here again, First and last. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Quality and quantity of food is definitely NOT worth it for the amount of money spent.

This my first time rating anythingThe egusi ????. I mean off the chain had the whole fish with goat meat I will definitely say in my top three in the 20 years of African food in the USA. And definitely 1 of all with the whole fish in the egusi and wasn't stingy with the meat ..

A went to this restaurant with a very open mind. And I was very excited to try this African restaurant in Newport News. But unfortunately, it was a big letdown. The rice was burnt if you ever smelled or had burnt popcorn. That's what the rice smelled like and it was a horrible taste. The chicken was overly cooked and chewy. I ended up giving it to my dogs. I can say that the sauce the chicken was in was excellent. The meat pie was very doughy and hardly meat-filling.Other than that 1 star for this place and I wouldn't return.

Pepper soup with goat and fufu is my go to !Not a fan of banku because it’s sour like a lemon but I understand the appeal. Plantains aren’t sweet which I don’t mind. The okra soup with the snapper and fufu is glorious. The shrimps are tasty and their meat pies tasted fermented and . The jollof is delicious but sometimes it tastes like it was barbecued. They have pineapple and hibiscus juices both with ginger in them and they are my faveeee!

Spinach stew with goat was fire. fufu was super soft, probably some of the softest I've had. The meat pie was ok would like more meat to the amount of dough, and was slightly dry. The pineapple ginger juice was great and refreshing.Definitely going back to try their palm nut soup and pepper soup okra soup and jolloff

The plantains were delicious which is why I gave this 2 stars instead of 1. The spinach stew was not flavorful at all, just tasted like spinach water. This is my second time ordering here and sadly it’s my last.

Happened upon locating this restaurant as a restaurant that I initially wanted to try is no longer in existence and that was not apparent until driving past where the restaurant should have been. This place is authentic and it caught my eye that they serve jollof rice. The woman with whom we placed our order was very nice and shared all the information regarding dishes and what is included with each. I ordered the chicken and goat with the jollof rice. She suggested mild spice. This came with fufu. I had never tried fufu before, but it was good, in my opinion. I also ordered pepper soup with fish and butter shrimp. The shrimp were smaller than I expected, but they were delicious. All was good. Please note that the food is cooked fresh to order, so a 20-minute wait was fine with me to know that it was made fresh. It is worth the wait.

Drove from Suffolk to try. I took food home and was disappointed. The rice was burnt and the goat was tough not tender at all.

Saturday, 11/18 was my first visit to Lormnava and I wasn't sure what to order. The gentleman there asked, "what have you heard about?'" He suggested a meal that I agreed to. Funny thing, I was $2 short of cash and he accepted what I had. I waited the 15 minutes in my car for and he was kind enough to bring it out me. The first thing I did was to take a long sip of the pineapple-ginger drink- so refreshing! The entree was a big portion, so much so that the leftovers made a meal the next day. It was so flavorful and delicious (spiced to perfection). I will definitely be going back.

I chose goat instead of chicken. Again, I ate before I took the picture...The food is spicy just enough to have my nose runny haha, but that's just me. It doesn't have an overwhelming flavor of spice which is great. This is good for people that like medium spice levels. The fufu of course is nice and soft and soaks up the soup. It's tasty but not, "oh my gosh you have to try this" tasty. I honestly am enjoying it!
