Rick's Cheese Steak Shop

This sandwich is ridiculous. I use to love ricks cheesesteak but today will be my last day eating from there. 40 something dollars for dried out meat on the sandwich. No mayo at all after I asked for it on both sandwiches. I saw only 2 tomatoes and I had a large sandwich. Didn't taste the oil or vinegar i asked for either. I'm just disgusted with Ricks.

the building is a total time capsule. also, I've had rick's before and yet somehow this location absolutely exceeded every expectation and gave me the best cheesesteak I've had in newport news

The fries tasted exactly like they looked burnt and dry with absolutely no seasoning or flavor I ate two.

Cheese steak with wiz was decent bread could’ve been better of toasted, lot of meat and wiz gave it the little bit of flavor it did have but all in all it was pretty bland. Nothing special about it. Would never go out of my way to home here again

I have got to say, they have the BEST cheese steak hoagies I have EVER HAD!!! Delicious, prices are fair, good portions and great service!!!!

Everytime I order over the phone they say I didn’t say Buffalo chicken and give me the wrong food. This is the 3rd time this has happened and they refused to remake it this time. I just had surgery so I had to send someone twice and they said they can only give me a side of buffalo sauce. That’s not what I ordered! Every other time they remade cause that’s what I ordered. Not my fault you wrote it wrong. Will not be returning to this location!!

Have been ordering food from here for past 10 years. Back then it was phenomenal. Went downhill for awhile, but the last couple of times we were very happy (say over the last 6 months but at least a few months ago). Today, 3/29/25, it was HORRIBLE. The cheesesteaks barely had meat, they used a cheap provolone cheese instead of what they used to that was barely there, and so it tasted like a cheap steak and cheese sub you’d expect at a third rate pizza shop. That was the best part of the meal. The fries were disgusting and somehow tasted cooked but not cooked. They were white and soggy and tasted bad. Even my 6 year old wouldn’t eat them. The chicken wings were inedible. Tasted boiled and slimy and gross. I couldn’t finish one. This is a place I’ve been known to eat a 12” sub in minutes, this time I could barely down half a one with little else. We ordered take out so the ratings reflect the food and cook (definitely not a chef) more than anything. On top of bad taste the prices are even higher. Absolutely horrible experience, I can see going back, not for a VERY long time. So disappointed and disgusted.

Food is Amazing. But how about every time you call to place an order they NEVER answer. So when you get there to order the two counter people are not doing anything. Been in there and watched them ignore the phone many times. Lazy. But then want to remind you of the tip button lol. Find some people who want to work.

This cheesesteak place was really good with cheese fries. Had a table top Galaga game with other games. Good stuff!

The food was crazy good like I had to stop and just stare at how good my food was, I wanted to eat everything after the Maryland cheesesteak. Happy hour on Tuesday and Wednesday ! I’m new little spotty spot!

I do door dash went to pick up order and had to wait 30 mins and there were no customers in there but one lady… this is unacceptable… 30 mins for two subs

First visit was great. My second and last visit not so great. Cheese steak had no flavor. Bread wasn't toasted. They didn't put all my topping that I asked for on my sandwich. So yeah my last time going. Jersey Mike's is better.
