Moved here a few weeks ago with my wife and kids at fort eustis. My wife called in to place an order, she said someone answered the phone rudely. My wife asked if fries come with the meal she ordered. Instead of the lady saying “Yes”, she said “ Your ordering a burger right “, I decided to go pick the food up myself with the kids seeing that my wife is upset about the situation. I went into the place and picked up my orders. I checked the bag to make sure everything is in place. Meaning nothing was missing. The lady told me to not do it at the counter, she said next time check it in your car. Wow! Won’t be coming back here nomore. I just spent $50 at your restaurant and can’t check my food before I leave.

UPDATE when i got home
Food was great but my sub was missing onions

The staff was incredibly rude to myself and my child. An older lady came running out of the building yelling about a parking spot. We didn’t even get a chance to walk into the business, such a horrible interaction. 0 / 10 don’t recommend.

the older lady not sure what her name is but she doesn’t need be working here. she’s rude poor cashier or waitress. I came in told her i was here for a doordash before i can tell her what the customer name was she rudely interrupted me and told me a few mins. I sat down and waited for a long time because she refused to tell me the order was ready for pick up. If you didn’t rudely interrupt me you would have had the information you needed. so now this review looks badly in the restaurant.

The place has an unpleasant odor that hit me as soon as I walked in. I only dealt with the older looking lady at the cash register whom was rude unwarranted. I believe she is the one that also took my call in order before arriving there. To be specific I asked her in a respectful way on the phone if my combo would come with fries, only for me not to get a respectful&simple response in return but instead she goes it’s a combo of course, just being very much condescending. As if there aren’t other sides that restaurants use. Then when I get there I get no greeting just a unwelcoming vibe. The lady didn’t even do the basics including not thanking me at the conclusion of our interaction for patronizing the business in which she works. She also forgot my drink. Getting off of her, the fries were unseasoned. The price ,which was $20, was too much for the quality of the food I received which was a simple Philly cheesesteak sandwich combo. Won’t be back ever. Thank goodness that there’s other cheesesteak shops around this area.

This location seems to lack a bit of everything compared to the williamsburg location. Service is always very questionable and wait times are just crazy most of the time.

Love the Williamsburg location. Newport News was not so great, our subs came out and the buns were cold along with the peppers, also did not get our fries with our order.
Just wasn't like the service we get in Williamsburg. The staff was nice though

Rick's locations are the best Cheesesteaks on the Peninsula (Hampton/Newport News). Good Cheesesteaks and Chicken Cheesesteaks. Good add-ons. Herrs Chips. A decent Philly atmosphere. Rolls are soft compared to the real thing, ask them to toast the roll.

Cheese Steak tasted good, but the bread to meat ratio was way off. Way more bread than meat, which doesn't match the price.

This is as authentic as you're going to get without going to the tri-state area.

I'm geniunly impressed and taken back by the sweet peppers. They're top-notch. Very comparable to DeLorenzos back when they were on Hudson St. I'm not sure how long they're pickled for, but they're excellent and complimented my cheesesteak incredibly well.

They accept orders for pick-up if you don't want to wait or dine-in.

First time going, food wasn't good at all. The fries where burnt and old, had to pick through and find ones that were eatable. Bread was not toasted reg roll out a sub pack. I will not be returning to this restaurant. It was something I could have made at home with a better taste!

Wasn't busy at all. Order a chicken philly to go. It was well-seasoned and dressed as ordered. This may be the best philly cheesesteak spot on the peninsula!

I’m quite perplexed, I understand this is a restaurant business but the lack of professional workplace conversation was quite evident on 9/22 Dex was more then polite and friendly but the woman working in the kitchen apparently had her boyfriend? Bringing her food, and the two employees were discussing them doing “extra curricular activities” as soon as he would arrive. Now I get employees are privy to breaks but I don’t really feel like a cook should be having intimate relations with another while on the clock.

The first few times I’ve gone to ricks have been amazing and the food is great, but I don’t know in a matter of less then a month the service has gone downhill, from just last week multiple side options being missing from my orders, to the lack of there never being “corned beef” I will have to take my cheesesteak and extras to another establishment form here on out because I don’t think I can support a business that doesn’t make an effort.

Love this place.
The employees are great.
Jackie at the counter is a great asset.
The food is always excellent. The cook communicates well with customers for special order.
The store and bathrooms are always clean and in working order.
All around great place to eat in or take out.
