I’m sorry, but the place is incredibly old and moldy all the way up to the pitchers being served. Both bathrooms offer dishsoap instead of always available hand soap to wash your hands, and while the food has its moments, it’s just not worth the potential of getting sick from there.
Relaxed atmosphere, beautiful decor. The host was friendly and informative, letting us know what options were vegan. The food was delicious. We loved the hot appetizer sampler!
Incredible lunch! Friendly owners, packed menu with great flavors. Appetizer sampler was fun to split and the lamb was tender and perfectly seasoned and seared.
So, I stopped in this place that looks closed and creepy inside, and ordered some falafel with salad and hummus. The food came out in a huge tin container which was not necessary for the falafel and salad( not a greek or specialty salad, no olives, onions avocados just lettuce, carrots, and tomato). This guy tells me my food was $24. So, he is a liar! If ordered the salad and the falafel on the menu the total would be $15. There were meat entrees with rice and veggies for less. i hate when i try and support places that the people just have a lying spirit, and darkness inside for me and my people. and the tiny side hummus was nasty and topped with a rancid oil. Brothers and Sisters, you read the review. The people do not respect us!
Tucked away on the edge of Hilton Village, this sleepy little Mediterranean restaurant surprised us in all the best ways. From the moment we stepped in, we were welcomed with warm, attentive service that made us feel right at home.
We started with the grape leaves and falafel appetizers—both were absolutely delicious. The grape leaves were tender and flavorful, while the falafel had a perfectly crispy exterior and a soft, herb-filled center.
For our main course, we shared the saffron kabob platter for two, which came with chicken, lamb, and hamburger skewers. Each meat was juicy, well-seasoned, and grilled to perfection. The saffron flavor added a fragrant richness that brought the dish together beautifully.
Dessert was a mixed experience. The baklava was a standout—sweet, flaky, and decadent. However, the lemon caramel cake, while flavorful, was a bit on the dry side and didn’t quite live up to the rest of the meal.
The only real downside was the ambiance—the facility could definitely use a little updating and renovation. Still, the charm of the place and the exceptional service more than made up for it.
Overall, this restaurant earns a solid 4.5 out of 5 from us. We’ll absolutely be back for more!
The food was ok, not an experience so to speak. Service and people polite but didn’t hit home. Tried it because the higher rating and area but wouldn’t recommend. The cake at the very end was dryer out and the Dr Pepper bottle I drank expires in less than 30 days…
Beautiful restaurant, good service , the meat was flavorful however the rest of my plate was plain tasting . Service was excellnet until it came down to pay, I had to ask the gentleman at the bar eating , do I go up to pay ? As he is eating he says I’ll get that for you,
We are nearly done with our experience, is not when you sit down to eat. Working in restaurants I was kind of shocked . The desert was dry and old and before saying anything , it’s like they knew it was. A little disappointed in that . My appetizer was excelllent .
Love their food
The owner, David, was very friendly and accommodating. I am celiac and he assured me that 95% of the menu is gluten free. He offered up additional information on labeling to assure me. I told him I was semi hungry and he recommended the salmon kabobs. It came with two different sauces and rice with a salad. It was fresh and delicious. I will be a new “usual” customer now!
Food and service were fantastic. Appreciate the old-world charm.

There were more familiar Turkish and Mediterranean dishes but we were more interested in the Afghan cuisine. The atmosphere was cosy and very comfortable. The owner was super friendly and helpful as we were unfamiliar with the menu. He mentioned the ten types of kabobs on the menu, which we are very interested to try on future visits there, because we’re definitely coming back! Recommended!
Not fresh.
Always close before mentioned time
Chicken Kabob.
My favorite place to get Mediterranean style food in Newport News. I usually go at a time when no one is there. I get the lamp kabob with rice and as an appetizer I get hummus and bread. The lamb is tender and delicious. Nice quiet family owned type restaurant. Highly recommend
