I picked up food from SATÈ today, and I’m still smiling from the experience! From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable.You can really tell they care about both the food and the people who come in.
Even though I only stopped by for a pickup, the ambiance completely blew me away. Warm lighting, inviting decor, and a calm, vibrant energy that makes you want to stay and enjoy the atmosphere. The food itself was absolutely delicious. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced seasoning, and beautifully prepared. You can tell every dish is made with real skill and passion.
I can’t wait to come back for a full sit-down meal. If it’s this amazing just picking up an order, I can only imagine how special dining in will be. Highly, highly recommend SATÈ!

While billing itself as a high end restaurant, SATE falls short on service and atmosphere. We were initially taken to bar tables located in a hallway outside the kitchen and bar. Immediately, you noticed a frenzied wait staff dashing from kitchen to table and table to table, certainly not conductive to the fine dining experience. We tried the hot honey oysters which were small. 6 for $16.00. My seared scallops were not seared and the meal was served lukewarm. There was too much sauce and the dish was underwhelming. My friends had the lamb chops which they enjoyed. All in all, not a nice evening out.

I’m turned off by the people sitting on the counter. Why was that even a thing.

I had the pleasure of playing some music here and enjoying the food and I have to say this was one of the best venues I have dealt with hands down! The staff is incredibly kind and courteous, I think this is reflective of the owner who I know is just the same. The food is absolutely amazing. You don’t find this type of food everywhere in Hampton Roads, this menu stands out in creativity and flavors and delivers on taste. 10/10, I highly recommend you check this spot out, would be an amazing date night, especially during live music on Wednesday nights 🥰

Very nice decor, but not so nice that you can’t feel like you can relax. There is literal lounge area in the front.
Great location in City Center.
I went on a Sunday which only had the brunch menu, and while I wanted the Nana’s chicken lunch/dinner dish, my server, Anisa, made a great suggestion which did not disappoint.

I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Cronut, but they were serving them on biscuits that day and I asked for the jam on the side.
Chicken was juicy, and good by itself.
Fries were well seasoned, also good by themselves.

Look forward to coming back to get the Nana’s chicken lunch/dinner dish.

Don’t know why this place is so highly rated . We went for lunch today and got a hot honey chicken sandwich and a lobster po boy w sweet potato wedges. The hot honey chicken sandwich was tasteless and the lobster po boy was overly salty and my husband couldn’t finish it due to the saltiness. The sweet potato wedges were also tasteless. The service was mediocre. The waitress was very nice and pleasant but we had to wait forever for our check and ask another worker to find our waitress. I never write reviews but due to the high price and good reviews, I needed to say my piece. Over priced and underwhelming.

Our team had lunch here to celebrate a members 25th work anniversary. The food was great. It tasted great. The portions were generous and the atmosphere was perfect.

I had the crab cake sandwich with fries.

This was my first ever visit to this place. Warning: I got lost trying to find it because both Google Maps and Waze sent me elsewhere. I'm any case, the place is clean, the service is good and the food was hot and tasty. I got the chicken & waffles from their brunch menu. The chicken was well-seasoned and crispy and the waffle was thick and fluffy. My only complaint would be they don't give you enough syrup for the waffle, initially, but they gave me more when I asked. Great experience. I will be back

The shrimp and grits were very saucy. The sauce should compliment not overpower. I prefer a well balance of flavors in shrimp and grits. I appreciated the sweetness of the vegetables. But, the sauce quickly erased the flavor. Whenever I ate a piece of sausage, it left a pleasant taste over the sauce. The shrimp was well seasoned although the skin was still on a few tails and the sauce quickly erased the flavor of the shrimp. If I ordered this again, I would ask if I could get the sauce on the side and mix it to my liking. This was my first visit and I will return.
