Shake Shack Newport News

My first and last visit. First it’s 58 degrees outside and 48 inside. Extremely uncomfortable. Second the burgers undelivered with tiny buns and a huge greasy mess. We ordered a side of onion rings and a grill cheese sandwich for $5 there were literally 5 onion rings and the grilled cheese was smaller than a baseball 2 adults 1 grill cheese $ 45 dollars later. Major disappointment. We won’t be back.

Delivers what I expect from a more upscale fast food place. Great quality.

It was our first visit and it didn't live up to the hype. The ordering process was easy enough at the kiosk but it didn't really offer many selections for personally modifying your selections. The food was delivered to our table was they neglected to include napkins (or a spoon for my milkshake). The onion rings were noticably crispy and crunchy. The cheese sauce was a nice plus with both the burger and the onion rings. No drink refills is definitely a negative feature since my son usually drinks a lot. I was not impressed with the selection of milkshakes flavors either. For an eatery with 'shake' in its name, it was more than a little disappointing. The tabletop shuffleboard game was nice though. All in all, one visit was enough.

I live far far away from civilization (LOL) & thought - Hey, it’s been 20 years since I’ve had Shake Shack….

OMG….with a 3-hr drive ahead of me, and eating it as I drove, all I could think is “This is the best fast food burger I’ve ever had. Would it be wrong to stop and get another one at the next big city before I cross the bridge?” 🍔 🏆.

I got the bacon, avocado, double and dipped it Kinders BBQ sauce (I carry a mini bottle with me wherever I get off just in case). 💚🥑🥓🍔🍔

I also got regular fries, which were so so …. But should have spent the five dollars on a shake instead. Next time. And NOT 20 years from now!!!

Shake Shake should take their terrible fries off the menu!!!
The photo of the fries didnt look that good but I thought I’d go all in and pay $24 (!!!) for a burger and fries for the experience. Whichever mushroom + patty burger I got was good (tasted clean) but the fries?!? $6+ for something that was worse than frozen grocery store fries!!! They were hard, tasteless and also not hot! No amount of Parmesan flakes and garlic sauce is going to fix a crap product.

Honestly, I just don’t see myself going back anytime soon when Costco is right next door. For the same price, I could eat for three days!

I came it at 2:15pm on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025. The staff were very friendly and engaging. The food was cooked really well; good flavor and caramelization on the smash burger. The crinkle fries were perfectly crispy and salted. The restaurant was clean and bright. Great experience.

I really like the food at the ShakeShack.I had the avocado bacon chicken sandwich with a side of plain crinkle fries. My husband had a single hamburger with a side of onion rings. Both meals were delicious. The prices are high but food is expensive everywhere. I recommend the ShakShack.
