Impromptu date night for my husband and I. We have wanted to try this steak house for a while. Disappointingly they were out of kangaroo so substituted the bison for my husband's exotic duo. The bison was good but was surprisingly fatty. Now the camel was outstanding!!!'

I had never had the opportunity to try waygu and boy am I glad I did! Melted in my mouth!

The restaurant is set up very well lots of space so you are not sitting on top of your neighbor. Our waiter was top notch! Made excellent suggestions very knowledgeable about the cuisine and super friendly but not overly hovering!

The preference from our waitress for the alligator bites, truffled macaroni, and scallops were impeccable. The service was awesome and the manager was constantly in attendance to ensure great service. The drinks were phenomenal and refreshing. I would go back and highly refer.

Good afternoon, on Saturday aug 9th my husband decided to surprise me with a date night to non other then Steak & Tonic city center location. Uppon walking in their was very minimal wait, the hostess was very polite and sat us according to our request. While standing at the entrance I noticed you can see into the beautiful big kitchen During your experience, my experience was very memorable. Four mins after we got seated our lovely server Nadia informed us she will be right with us while she filled out glasses with water. We said ok and wait only a few min. ONce she arrived back to our table I told her this was our first time and she immediately had a smile on her face, she proceeded to inform us of the dishes (exsotic) that was unavailable for the evening whitch in this case was understandable, IV always heard about the kangaroo and camel dish but no I won't be eating it 😂. Once we placed our drinks and starter we waited about five mins for the bread basket and she graciously went over the bread selection and butter options. Uppon sitting at the corner booth by the kitchen I noticed everyone in uniform and very busy , the kitchen looked clean and very presentable as well as all the servers whom came in and out. No servers where in the kitchen too long and the kitchen looked like it was running smoothly. I noticed a man ina tie dye shirt with an ice coffee 🤣, general manager I presume but he only stayed in their for short period of time. Once we placed our order Nadia informed us all the side that come with our meal we were very pleased. As for the SpeakEasy room that threw me off. At a glance it's a wine holder , then people started coming out he room and I was blown away. The room is very breath taking and definitely stands to its name. All servers did amazing at attending to their tables and nobody over did it. You all did an amazing job and my husband and I can't wait to come back for another amazing meal from Steak and Tonic.

Loved everything about this place from the decor and lighting to the friendly front desk person, to Clayton, the best Assistant Manager I've ever met, to Sam, our attentive and helpful server. The food was exceptional. We had the Prime Rib Split Plate followed by the Chef's Cheesecake and Coffee for dessert. Delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. They do everything well.

We were just looking for a spot to grab a few drinks, but this place totally exceeded expectations. The bartender was amazing, friendly, fast, and made us feel like regulars. The atmosphere had a cool, city vibe, definitely not what you'd expect to find in Newport News. It felt more like a hidden gem you'd stumble on in a bigger city. We'll absolutely be back.

Lovely double date night there. We weren't too impressed with my surf and turf pasta. You'd think for $42 it would be more than 4 shrimp and ground bison (you can get ground bison at the store for $10/pound). The duck was delicious and our friends bison tenderloin was fantastic. Our server was wonderful! She'd only been there a month, but could answer every question we had! If we come again, we hope to get the same service experience as she set the bar very high!

The ambiance of the inside is very inviting and romantic. Our server was respectful and professional, however I would have enjoyed the more friendlier and laughable approach I noticed that was given to certain other tables. Still I give 5 stars. The onion soup could use a redo, less salt and more brothy (per the 4 star). Prime Rib was absolutely perfect, plentiful and deliciously complimented with buttery mashed potatoes and bitey squash blend that wasnt over cooked. The salt blends and reduction to pair with the meal upped the flavor respectfully and the lemoncello mocktail gave the meal a citrus sweet farewell after the last bite. I especially enjoyed the bluesy music that was playing at a level where a quiet conversation could be had without competition. Perfect for a date night, celebration, anniversary or treat yourself. Will be returning to try the incredible and juicy meat burger my husband ordered. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Came in for a couple drinks and ended up with a Tito’s dirty martini—great call, since the house vodka didn’t hit the mark. Solid spot overall with a great bartender who made the experience even better. Definitely worth a visit!

Ate dinner at the bar on a Thursday eve. Pictured is the cowboy burger and hydroponic mixed green salad. Everything was excellent. Burger was properly cooked medium and super juicy, and the onion ring added nice texture along with the unusual BBQ sauce. The salad was a nice blend of sweet and bitter - could have used a bit more pear, but not a huge deal. Nice selection of beers too. We will be back!
