The Original Pizza Sam

Stopped in for lunch with my family and the experience did not disappoint. First time coming, but we will return whenever we're in the area.

The pizza was wonderful - great rigidity to the crust without being overcooked. Toppings were plentiful and the marinara may be one of the best I've had locally. It was bright without being acidic and lovely blend of herbs you can smell and taste.

The staff was very kind and accommodating, tables were clean and prices reasonable - really just can't say enough good, it was a very nice surprise since we went without any recommendations from others.

The only note I would make to others is that the parking lot isn't great. Google maps routed me through the Atkinson entrance (from Warwick) but that requires you to pass the Mexican place beside it in a narrow one way sort of passage. Not a show stopper, but I could see that being problematic if two vehicles approaching that corner were distracted by a phone.

Regardless of that - do yourself a favor and go grab a pie here. Throw in some garlic knots too.

I don't know why this place has such good reviews. The pizza was mediocre, at best. I paid over $6 for what I thought would be a 20oz bottle of pop and a 2 liter. I ended up getting 2 12oz cans of pop. I had to call and explain what happened 4 times over the phone and they made it a big deal. While I was on the phone with them they blamed my poor delivery driver for stealing the 2 liter. No, you screwed up. Own it! They didn't even offer an apology, refund or, anything. The Uber delivery driver was nice enough to take more time and money out of his pocket to go get the 2 liter for me. 5 stars for you man!! I wouldn't accept any orders from this place ever again if I were him.

This small and simple place is great for a quick bite (pizza by the slice) or to dine in. The pizza is made fresh and the oven is open for customers to see. Everything in their menu is tasty and traditional. Employees enjoy working here and they are courteous.

I just popped in to grab a couple slices since a friend was raving about it. I had the meatlovers. The crust is just the perfect thickness. One slice did me in. This is my new pizza place. Can't wait to try the calzone next.

The pizza is great, never had a bad slice. This is the best pizza spot in the entirety of the Hampton Roads area (including VA Beach, Norfolk, and all of Southside)

Being from New Jersey and living in VA for the last 6 years I have not found a better pizza place that reminds me of home until now. My only complaint is I wish I found Sam’s sooner. The pizza is amazing and the knots are perfect. I’ll definitely be back.
