Our favorite Italian restaurant in the 757! We come here every few months and it’s always delicious.
Garlic knots - amazing
Pasta dishes - fire (I got the rigatoni alla vodka tonight. INSANELY good!)
Salad - delicious
Mozzarella sticks - bomb
You cannot go wrong with this place!

The food here is to die for. It may sound strange, but I am in love with their salads. They have a unique lightly salty taste and are SO fresh. Absolutely incredible. When we have had take out, the garlic knots get steamed in the packaging on the way over to us and are soft and warm. In the restaurant, they seemed a little harder, but they are fresh. Every dish that I have had from here is good. We go for no-wine entrees. I have brought my child with us and we bring home leftovers for a fabulous lunch the next day. They are VERY good for seafood, meatballs, pasta, whatnot.

I thought the food was great but the restaurant left a lot to be desired. Service was less than desirable. The waitress was rude. Will not go again.

They have a gluten free pasta, and a gluten free pizza dough. I wasn't super impressed as I only had the gluten free penne with marinara which was pretty basic, but all the other items looked phenomenal, and the family loved it! I was able to get some grilled chicken in top also which was good. Family restaurant type vibe, good food, nothing to complain about. No negative reactions from gluten either 🙏🏼

Last night, my oldest niece celebrated her birthday dinner at Tuscany in Newport News. Our party included 14 adults and 2 children, and she had made a reservation several days in advance. The side room was reserved for us, and things started off well with a staff member filling our water glasses.

However, once that was done, there was a long wait before anyone else came to assist us. Eventually, Roberta came in. She introduced herself in a very curt manner and said she’d be back with menus. When she returned, she again spoke very abruptly and informed us that because of our party size, we should share the menus.

When someone in our group asked for water, Roberta snapped that they didn’t have water because they weren’t seated at a place setting, and she’d “have to see if someone could move it.” My husband and I ended up rearranging the place settings ourselves so everyone had one—including water.

Service continued to be impersonal and brisk. Roberta passed out menus and disappeared. She came back much later for drink orders, then again much later for appetizers and entrees. Every interaction with her lacked warmth or even basic friendliness—no smiles, no effort to be personable. Drink refills were never offered, and the long gaps between visits meant we couldn’t even ask.

When the food finally arrived—except for one incorrectly delivered dish by Roberta—it was delicious. But the disjointed and indifferent service really took away from the experience. A younger staff member did eventually come by to offer boxes, which was appreciated.

Later, we waited over 15 minutes for someone to bring out the birthday cake. When it finally arrived, it was slammed down on the table. We then had to track someone down for plates and forks—again met with attitude and more slamming.

When my niece asked to speak with the manager, she was told that Roberta was the manager. Honestly, that was disheartening. As a leader, she should set the tone and be an example for the staff—but her behavior reflected the opposite.

To be clear, the food was delicious. And while it felt like we waited a long time, I don’t believe the delay was on the kitchen—it was the service process that was completely disorganized and cold. There was also a 25% service fee automatically added to our bill, which felt excessive given the quality of service we received. I’m not sure if my niece was informed of this when making the reservation.

Sadly, we won’t be returning—at least not while Roberta is in charge.

My daughter chose to have her birthday dinner here. We had 15 people in our party and our tables were pre separated in the “side area”. We did have a reservation ahead of time and the restaurant was fairly empty in the main area. The waitress seemed to be disgruntled and I’m not sure if it was only towards our party or just in general. For the restaurant being mostly empty it took quite some time to get our food. This is somewhat understandable though as if I’m not mistaken everything is made fresh. Upon receiving the bill I noticed a gratuity of 25% was added to our bills disguised as a service charge. After getting our cards swiped an additional 20%-30% tip was requested on top of the already 25% automatic gratuity. For dessert my other daughter brought a birthday cake and the staff put it in the back when she first got there. After paying the bill we were never brought out the cake and had to ask for it multiple times. The cake was brought out finally and set down aggressively on the table. We then had to ask for plates and utensils which were also slammed down on the table as we were given a dirty look. I’ve stayed away from this restaurant for years after always seeing the staff smoking out back when driving by. I don’t think I’ll be visiting this place again for the foreseeable future. The good food just isn’t enough to deal with the other things.

I chose to celebrate my birthday at Tuscany because of its warm, family-friendly atmosphere and consistently excellent food. Unfortunately, the service we received during this special occasion was disappointing and detracted significantly from the experience.

We were a party of 15, and from the moment we were seated, our server Roberta seemed visibly irritated. She made passive-aggressive remarks about the table arrangement and guests moving a chair—despite the fact that we appeared to be the only group in the back section, which seemed reserved for our gathering.

Earlier in the evening, my sister handed Roberta a birthday cake to be brought out later. When the meal concluded and my sister requested the cake, Roberta returned only with the checks, processed the payments, and never brought the cake or any utensils. After waiting for about 15 minutes with no follow-up, a family member had to go and ask another staff member for the cake. When it was finally delivered, there were still no plates or forks provided.

At that point, I asked if there was a manager available—and to our surprise, we were informed that Roberta herself was the manager on duty.

While the food remains exceptional—Tuscany has long been a favorite of mine—the level of service we received was well below expectations, especially coming from someone in a leadership role. It’s disappointing to see such poor hospitality at a place with so much potential. If this reflects how management operates, it’s concerning to think about the broader training and culture within the staff.

Tuscany has so much going for it, but this experience left us deeply dissatisfied.

been here twice & got the same waitress & she’s awful. she has a bad attitude & super rude. she sadly is the manager so her attitude isn’t gonna change lol. the food is delicious tho, I would just recommend ordering to go bc dining in ruins everything.
