We loved Yanna’s’ Taverna because we were always greeted and cared for like we were family. The food was fresh and delicious causing me to eat too much and my favorite was the Gyro Platter w/ mixed lamb and chicken! Hope everything works out for this precious family that gave so much! Thank you Julie for being so gracious and kind to your customers! ❤️

Been here 2x. The flaming cheese was so good but everything else we got did not taste authentic.

Yannas' is amazing. The food was perfect and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely return. I've been searching for an authentic Greek restaurant and I've definitely found it.

Well... my poor tummy was all set for Greek cuisine, I could almost taste the mousaka (I hope I spelled that right). But, alas, my tummy was sorely disappointed because they were CLOSED (contrary to their published hours). I (and my tummy) had to drag our disappointment to Jose tequilas to drown our sorrows in frozen margaritas and chips n salsa....not the same...

We were hoping for sit down dinner at a nearby establishment but instead we opted to give Yanna's Taverna a try. It looks bigger on the outside so when we entered we were immediately seated in one of the few indoor tables. It looks like they can seat about 20 indoors. But the outdoor patio area is generous. The decor is miscellaneous Greek; some wall paintings, some Greek themed wall items and very casual. We were provided with a paper menu with reduced offerings from the regular menu but plenty to choose from. I am giving it 5 stars for the food alone. We started with a Greek Sampler Platter which was excellent. The 4 of us ate all of it and it really was plenty to have as a meal for two. One of us ordered the chicken souvlaki spaghetti and was shoveling it in like it someone was ready to take the plate away. He kept remarking how delicious it was. Another of us got a more traditional looking spaghetti which he ate every bite of. I ordered the sausage pita which was a nice size and I was too full from the sampler to eat more than a bite. The children's chicken tenders looked homemade with a generous serving of fries. One of us got the Greek Burger and pretty much inhaled it. We all got iced tea. The total cost was about $85 and with tip just over $100. Not a cheap meal but the food was so good! When we go back, and we will, I think I will plan to split the sampler with someone and be happy with that. It looks like a good time to go is in the late afternoon before the place fills up with evening diners.

This quaint little restaurant is a great spot for Mediterranean food! While the space is limited, it was still a full house when we visited and the service didn't suffer. The waitress promptly informed of the menu items that weren't available due to limited staff. There were some recommendations of items made which we went with and were happy that we did. The chicken platter was way more than I could finish but the flavor was incredible. Just the right amount of spices to make your toes tap with every bite. The pit was fresh and added texture. The salad and fresh made feta cheese was addicting. That alone was a meal to come back for. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant for delicious and fresh food. It was filling but not grossly heavy. The stuffed grape leaves had a tangy lemon sauce that complimented the seasoned rice and ground beef inside. Those are what you'll random crave throughout the work week so thankfully it's conveniently located in Newport News that I can get some when I'd like. Friendly staff and authentic food- an absolute win!

Not usually a review writer but I definitely wanted to write something about this place because it gave off very Mom & Pop vibes. Went to this place on a Friday night. The indoors was packed. Every seat was taken. We sat outside in the side patio area which is decorated in a very thematic manner. It was really cool. I usually try to eat pescatarian, (I cheated this meal and it was worth it) and thus we started with the Vegetarian Sampler. Usually tzatziki sauce isn't my go to, but it came with the sampler and wow I could taste the home made. It was stellar. Everything else that came with the sampler was amazing too! We got them to leave it out while we ate our entree and went back for round 2 after. As an entree I got the Athenian gyro. I was kinda iffy on this because I'm not a big meat person. But I'm so glad I cheated on my diet while here. The pita was very fresh and everything had amazing spice to it. Certainly putting this place on the regular rotation. If you're looking for a Greek place in the area, this is certainly the best place to start.

I feel like Dory from Finding Nemo with this restaurant, I know it's there but I forget about it all the time. Great service, ok atmosphere but amazingly good food. I love the chicken slovaki salad, it might be one of my favorite things to eat in the area, when I remember Yanas' is there.
