One of Kind Restaurant tucked away in Norfolk off 21st street . A locals favorite for decades.
We had our daughter's birthday dinner table of 15 , and it was one of best dinners I ever paid for. Large or intimate check out AW Shucks , we now live in Staunton , but if we are in Norfolk we'll have a meal at AW Shucks .

I feel bad just now leaving a review because before last night, we always really enjoyed a quick dinner here.

We have always wanted to sit at the bar but never been able to. Hopefully, we never will again. The bartender, who never introduced herself, could not have seemed more annoyed to have customers and spent most of the time talking to the two employees who sat at the end of the bar.

We ordered oysters to start- I'm not convinced they were the right ones but oh well. I had a few questions about the Tomato & Crab Soup and wish I would not have ordered it. It was nothing more than a can of diced tomatoes, a few cans of other vegetables, and some crab meat. Zero flavor. Extremely bland. The Andouille Corn Chowder did not impress us either.

If we are ever back, we will likely only stick to raw bar items. And not sit at the bar.

Amazing!! Food wonderful! Janine is a spectacular bartender!! The wings with old bay outstanding. Wonderful outdoor space, big indoor space. Get beer and fresh catch. Nice wine selection. Love it!!

I come to this restaurant at least 1-2 times a week for dinner when I’m in town working in Norfolk
This place has great food and 99% of the staff are kind and friendly EXCEPT the Bartender named Crystal. The other night after I had closed out my check with the waitress at the table I was sitting at,
I felt like having a Margarita so around 9pm I walked over to the bar(HUGE MISTAKE)
the look she gave me as I sat down was horrid, nevertheless I am a warm and kind person so I still was nice to her, so I order my drink and she makes it and gives it to me(still with a mad look on her face)
never once did she ask if I needed a menu or if I wanted another drink or anything at all and at 9:25 pm I felt like getting one last Margarita but before I had the chance to even say anything she walks over to me and places the check down in front of me and I asked her if I could get one last drink and she said that it was too late already and that she called last call at 9:20(which she didn’t ) I even asked the gentlemen sitting three chairs down if he had heard her say last call and he said no(right in front of her) then she says we don’t call it out even though she literally said she had a minute or two ago. I felt very awkward and uncomfortable at that point so I paid my tab and left feeling humiliated, I don’t know what this bartenders problem is, don’t know if she is prejudice,
I thought I’d write this review(which I never ever do) so that people know what they could be potentially getting themselves into by sitting at this bar while she’s back there running the bar.
I will continue to eat dinner whenever I’m in town as this has been the only bad experience I have had there and all the other servers and hosts are very nice and professional and the quality of the food is excellent but will definitely stay clear of this woman.

Very nice spot. Atmosphere is great. The staff is great. Food was very good. You won't be disappointed.

The food is always delicious but the star of the show is definitely the Krispy cream bread pudding. You are definitely doing yourself a disservice if you miss out on this!

We had a table of 10 for my brothers graduation and I called 6 hours in advance no answer.. I then went online to reserve a table, we went all day thinking our reservation was approved until 15mins after graduation was over and we get an email stating they cant accommodate our party..mind you we were already at the restaurant. We went in and the restaurant was empty so we decided to just do walk on because they said the accept those also, I guess we didn't fit the criteria bc the hostess then said she cant seat us as a walk in either because we had a big party. So families of 5 or more stay clear of this place.

Loved this place. Seafood was fresh and well prepared. Service was very good. Didn't have to ask for a thing - drinks were refilled when low without asking, and the oreo cheesecake was exquisite. We will be back! Relaxing atmosphere. All you could want in a nice meal.

Definitely a local hot spot. Not overpriced and really good size meals. Had my first oyster shooter with beer here.... Interesting.. Every seafood item was fresh. Loved the calamari too. Tasty, perfectly seasoned and flash fried, giving it that super crunch.

Very attentive service. Plenty of parking and no wait time at all, for a Friday night. Good, family friendly establishments. It was not too loud either which was really nice to be able to enjoy dinner and company with yelling across the table.
