“I have finally found my favorite restaurant after living in the area 2 years! The food was so good I woke up this morning still imagining every delicious moment last night. The visit started with incredibly friendly staff, an original mocktail made by the talented bartender, and warm, fresh focaccia. Both appetizers ordered were superb. My main course, the butternut squash ravioli with Italian sausage...omg...the flavor in each bite...the way it hit on the palette with just the perfect blends of texture, spice and sauce was nothing short of revolutionary. It made me want to stand up and proclaim that I had FINALLY found the love I had been looking for my entire life! Luckily for those around me, I didn't do that, but I really wanted to. Our entire table was blown away as we ate varying dishes from the ravioli special to the spaghetti limone to the fresh flounder. I'm afraid anyone overhearing our table commenting on the absolutely outstanding orgasmic flavors of our food as we ate might have thought we were under the influence of psychedelics...but we were only under the influence of the exceptional food, wine and mocktails being served from the superb Chef and staff. As if that wasn't enough, we ended our meal with the chocolate mousse, which was able to give us that one last flavor climax with its perfectly balanced dark yet so satisfying chocolate tones. OMG. MIND BLOWN. Blanca reminds me of food I would find at a high end restaurant in San Francisco or NYC, yet with the friendliness, comfortable ambiance and welcoming energy of a smaller city. Wow. Just Wow. Amazing. I can't wait to go back. The world is a better place with the food and people of Blanca in it!”

“Ate here last night. Food is delicious. They do nickel and dime a bit. $3.50 for tortilla chips. Most mexican restaurants serve them complementary. Refills are free but they just bring the chips and you have to ask if you need more condiments. I also was charged a $1.50 because I wanted my tacos Lola’s way. I don’t remember seeing additional $1.50 to have them made that way on the menu. Also, sign outside margueritas are $7 all day everyday but then we we charged $8 each because you had to pay $1 extra for the flavoring. All these lovely add ons add up and you are not aware until the bill comes. Lastly there was a man working behind the bar with a very long beard. Since long hair needs to be tied back - this beard should have been ponytailed, in a net or shaved off. After seeing that I almost threw up my meal and my drink that he prepared.”

“My wife and I have consistently enjoyed Swell for several years. Service and food are exceptional! However, I'm posting this review because of something that occurred this evening. Two days ago, I received an email informing me of a new addition to their menu ...... she crab soup. My wife and I were thrilled and decided to check it out this evening. We arrived, order wine and a beer, and were informed that the she crab soup ran out yesterday. I'm hoping that, in the future, if the owner is going to advertise a new menu item, that item should be on the menu. If it is not available, the owner should consider sending an email to his VIP members.”

“Long time vistor, first time reviewer. Ilo is a must go and dine. We went a couple of weeks ago and had a top notch meal. The service was incredible and the food was to die for. The head chef there is a wizard in the kitchen who crafts the most decadent meals. The salmon was best salmon I've ever had and my wife's gnocchi was right up there. If you're ever in Norfolk go there and give it a try. You won't be disappointed.”

“I’ve eaten here now 5 times. Gone for an evening date, family gathering of 8, and a regular dinner for 4 out and about in town. They can accommodate anything. The food is excellent, creative and unique. Staff is nice and helpful, and hardworking. This is a staple for me. Parking on the street hasn’t been a problem but also garages are available or uber if you are enjoying the neat drink menu.”

“They go above and beyond: I joined my book club ladies for dinner last night at Press 626. I have some mobility issues and was advised to take the back steps upon arriving. I was well assisted up the stairs and taken to our table. The servers could not have been more pleasant. When it was time to leave one of the female employees assisted me down the front steps and to my waiting car. They made me feel very comfortable and welcoming. Thank you so much.”

We decided to sit at the bar instead of a window seat I also let the host know if someone cancels or if a Hi top come available please let us know. All you could see was the kitchen door flying open lol as the waitresses was bringing dishes I mean we only do fine dining when we eat out but I honestly wasn’t expecting something at this caliber seriously, you know we eat alot of places and sometimes the food just doesn’t be seasoned the way you expected especially if its plated nicely. Because it’s true we eat with our eyes first! But let me tell you!!! Goddd KISS THE CHEF!! The Owner, Owners whoever lol because every aspect was on point from service to atmosphere it really was unbelievable! I felt like I was in a major city!! Miami especially because I’ve had the oxtail lasagna there so I advised my wife to get that and I got the 37oz Tomahawk for 2 top with crab meat lol I love a good steak seriously. We didn’t get any appetizers because I wanted to save my appetite and my mental was in my pocket lol if you know what I mean but a $100 for a tomahawk with roasted potatoes it was no way I wasn’t gonna have that for dinner and some left for breakfast with cheese eggs in the morning lol Now when my steak came out! I ordered medium in which I expected to see pink because medium requires pink and who orders a well done steak anyway??? I mean it was cooked and seasoned to perfection with roasted potatoes and onions OMG I’M GOING BACK THERE!! Soon!! I taste my wife oxtail lasagna because she just kept saying how much better it tasted here lol so I did and she wasn’t exaggerating I mean the pasta sauce was sweet with garlic Omg how did they make a sauce that good and it had tomato chunks in it not the big crazy chunks but just perfect everything was PERFECT THIS PLACE DESERVES A MICHELIN⭐️ if thats possible in this area Ive ate in numerous countries because of my military background but this place is one for the books!!”

“My wife, our grandson, and myself went to Saltines on Valentine’s Day which is also my wife’s birthday. Reservations at 7;45 and the seating arrangement was perfect. Kyle was our waiter. We could not have gotten a more perfect waiter. Kyle was extremely polite and was very attentive to our needs. The drinks he served were perfect. The food served was above par. He even wished my wife a happy birthday and made sure she had everything she wanted. Kyle is the sort of waiter that you look for and hope for. He was perfect for our little celebration. My thanks to Kyle and thanks to Saltines for employing someone such as Kyle. Kyle will be our waiter for future dining at Saltines.”

The food was really good and my server treated me and my husband very well the whole time! Definitely worth coming here! I would rate this 10 out of 5 stars but unfortunately I cannot!”

“Had a great experience here on a late night food run. Ordered a handful of cookies with my mobile order, as they're great, and I wanted to save some for the next day. Got there, got the rest of the food (bacon king, large fry, small coke), but they did not have any cookies cooked at time I arrived. Young man in the drive through, informed me of that, apologized, and asked if I would like pies instead. I ended up waiting for the cookies, as I wasn't in a rush and was going to eat in my car anyway. The guy apologized again, got me the rest of my food (upgrading my coke to a large for the wait), and told me to drive up front, where he came out in approximately 15 minutes with some fresh baked cookies.

Some may give a negative for not having a bunch of cookies cooked and ready. I ordered a bunch of them at nearly midnight though, so understand. More than anything though, I left impressed and happy with the service. Guy at the window is great with people and cared enough to go out his way to make me happy. I feel like most places wouldn't have even told me about the substitution, let alone offering to have them make them right then for a short wait. For an industry where the expectation is pretty bare minimum, seeing someone with hustle and legitimate service attitude was nice.

Burger King in general has been killing it too. Obvious comparison is to McDonald's, and they're cheaper and better by now. The Bacon King burger is fire.”

Not only did he barely greet me and my coworker, he was snotty, forgot half of my food, allowed my coworkers waffle to get cold before bringing his butter and syrup, didn't ask if we wanted refills, and barely spoke to us. then decided to get snarky when I left him a $2 tip when he didn't even deserve that... I always to at least 25%... not today”

“Tony, the Cowboy fan from Baltimore, went out of his way to get my order to me. My elderly mother woke up this morning and asked for pancakes. Not being able to get to Ihop, I ordered through DD. Received my order and everything except the pancakes were in there. I called the store, spoke to Tony, and he brought my mother's pancakes to me personally. I really appreciate what he did. During this difficult time in our family life, small acts like that go a long way.

“Best biscuits I had in my few days in town on a port stop. Large, right texture, good flavor (though could use more salt). The honey butter was an excellent addition too. The other places in town, they were so flat, like an English muffin. Coffee here was also good.”

“Met a client for dinner and it was a great recommendation! I had actually eaten already but decided to grab some light bites so that my client didn't have to eat alone.

I ordered the buffalo shrimp and a cup of chili. I like that the shrimp was cooked in the buffalo sauce and not just thrown on when it finished cooking. They were very saucy and I just realized that I failed to get a picture of them.

The cup of chilli was filled to the brim and came with the option of having sour cream, cheese, as well as one of the best pieces of corn bread that I've eaten outside of home. It was thick and sweet and cooked to perfection!

Our server was exceptional, she had the perfect blend of allowing us time and ability to converse while also being discreetly attentive to our needs.

Also ordered a piece of cheesecake to go and it was as delicious as they come, even without toppings! The only tipping that they had was raspberry sauce and I'm more of a strawberry person but this generously portioned cheesecake didn't even need it.

The environment was very intimate and allowed for private conversations. There was also a room which looks like it may be used for somewhat larger groups but I'm not sure.

It did not take long to get a table, as they were ready to seat us immediately upon arrival.

There is an intimate parking lot but I believe the lot adjacent to it can also possibly be used- but I didn't check it out. There is also limited street parking, which could likely be competitive outside of the Sunday that we met.

The menu has a lot of variety and there are options for every type of pallet. Based on my experience, I would definitely return and would recommend them highly.”

“We came here as a group of 6 on a Tuesday evening, and we were seated at their smallest table. When we asked to be moved to a larger (there were 3 open larger tables) we were told that the "wait" was too long. All 3 tables sat empty the entire time we ate. 3 of the 6 people in our party ordered the blackened sword fish at $34/plate. The orders came as grilled and they were severely over cooked. When we mentioned that the orders were wrong, we were told that they could take that fish back add blackened seasoning and re cook the same (already overcooked) fish. We asked to speak to the manager, whose immediate solution was to take off the automatic gratuity and just not tip our server. We never got an apology for the food being wrong, and the manager was completely rude the entire time. The manager's final solution was to take $4 off of a $80 bill. We will not be back.”

“The Hampton Roads Yacht Club recently ordered several meat subs from Sirens Subs for our Happy Hour event, and they were a huge hit with our members!

The subs were fresh, generously filled, and absolutely delicious. Many of our members commented on the quality of the ingredients and how flavorful everything tasted. The sandwiches were beautifully prepared, ready on time, and made serving a large group easy and enjoyable.

We appreciate the excellent food and service and look forward to ordering from them again for future club events. Highly recommend for anyone looking to feed a crowd with great-tasting sandwiches!

“Attended the wine dinner last evening and was underwhelmed. I had called to ask if they would accommodate dietary requests such as vegetarian/pescatarian and was told no however last evening they had several people that they accomadated for dietary requests. It was disappointing to learn that too late. It was a rainy cold evening and the seating for the event was in their inclosed outside seating area. Throughout the evening you got burst of cold air in spite of the heaters it was cold. Going into the colder months I definitely would not attend if they don’t change the location of the dinner in their restaurant. The food and wine were good but nothing overly impressive. The last wine was Federalist which is a very inexpensive everyday wine that you can get at total wine for under $20. I guess I was expecting more from the wine dinner which is why I say I was underwhelmed.”

“When I visited Chicago as a child, I remember trying Chicago style pizza there several times with the family. It was . . . different. You see, I'm from St. Louis just four hours away and was tied to thin crust, like cracker thin--which I still very much love. But that Chicago pizza had such a weird texture and what not. Flashforward to today and 1,400 miles to the east, I moved to Norfolk for a job almost twenty years ago, and um. I don't know if my taste buds changed, or if this place just knows how to do it the way it should be, but that place in Chicago has nothing on this. I scoffed at first at the price, that is until I tried it at the urging of a co-worker and each slice is like a whole meal. The texture, the taste, the crust. Perfection. I never though I was a deep dish fan of any kind until Del Vecchios showed me how it is supposed to be done. Add to that the comradery of the staff and the personal nature of the wait-staff. Del Vecchios is among the best pizza I've had, bar none. They are proof of the advantages of venturing outside the safe mediocre comfort of chains and trying the smaller mom and pop tried and true places because now that I've had it, I don't want Chicago style pizza from anyone else, even in Chicago.”

“The setting is gorgeous, but the interior could use a designer for a more coastal environment. The crab cakes are the best in the area, but they need better healthy sides. I also had the best soft shell crab in the area there a few months ago. Hire a chef versus a cook. More healthy versions of seafood are needed versus mostly fried and salted. As an excellent cook, I could turn this place into a hot neighborhood spot that people could walk to/from. Many times the price does not meet the quality of food unless I order the crab cakes. I have seen waiters bring out broccoli with worms moving around and florets that have overstayed their time in the kitchen.”

“Go at lunch. Sit in the cafe or wherever Aaliyah is serving. She is a delight! Don’t be fooled, she look young but she is a seasoned server.

I got soup, salad and breadsticks. The soup was warm when I received it so I declined when she offered me another bowl. I told her “the soup tastes good but the temp is warm”. I was still enjoying my salad when a fresh pot was finished and she took it upon herself to bring me a bowl since it was fresh.

She kept our glasses full. Consistently checked (not aggy though) to anticipate our needs - extra napkins, more breadsticks, etc. We were never looking for her. Well done! I’d come back to this location just to sit in her section.”

“Tony, the Cowboy fan from Baltimore, went out of his way to get my order to me. My elderly mother woke up this morning and asked for pancakes. Not being able to get to Ihop, I ordered through DD. Received my order and everything except the pancakes were in there. I called the store, spoke to Tony, and he brought my mother's pancakes to me personally. I really appreciate what he did. During this difficult time in our family life, small acts like that go a long way.

“I was leery about coming here due to some recent low reviews regarding service. But I came here since my car is being serviced and had to just go somewhere for lunch while waiting for work on my car to be done in 2 hours!
The restaurant wasn’t crowded, you’d think it’d still be lunch period at 1:30pm. The hostess wasn’t at her station to greet me but was able to walk over. I was immediately seated. It took about 10 minutes after the menu was given to me before the server came around. That’s why it’s not 5 stars! I was ready to order by the time the server came around. I ordered the glazed salmon bowl. It took another 10 minutes before my order came out. The salmon was cooked well. It was on a bed of typical salad: lettuce, seeds, surprise element: broccoli came lightly dressed and with extra helping of dressing if needed. For $18.99 it’s reasonably priced. The server dropped by once to ask if things were okay. He was polite. When done he took away the plate and where I indicated if it’s okay to wait until I get my ride back to the shop. He gave the check and indicated to let him know if there’s anything like dessert to let him know. Ambiance is okay, wish they have more elevated table covers than vinyl covers that look so dingy. Good thing is that the server went around and wiped down the tables in his spare time!”

“I visited Playa Bowls while I was in town on Friday, September 4, and I was definitely not disappointed! The bowl I ordered was phenomenal, fresh, refreshing, and absolutely delicious.

My children attend Old Dominion University, and I really wish Playa Bowls were included as a meal exchange option. Having a healthy, refreshing choice like this available to students would be wonderful.

I also want to recognize the amazing staff working that morning. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Shatori stood out, she was incredibly patient with my son and took the time to answer all of his questions about the different bases and options. Ariana was working behind the register and was equally wonderful. She greeted us warmly, was kind and friendly, and made us feel very welcome.

There was also a third young lady working that morning whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch, but she was just as kind and helpful and always had a big smile on her face.

I hope the owner and management know what a great group of employees they have. Excellent food and excellent customer service made this a great experience. Keep up the wonderful work! I will definitely be back the next time I’m in town.”

“It's kind of a sliver of a restaurant, but worth the trip. The cook was especially cool, and accommodating and served delicious food. I had the catfish, and I believe that my wife had flounder, with mac and cheese and greens. Of course, my daughter had chicken tenders. Come to find out, the cook is a Jersey homeboy. Shouts to Fuego from Paterson aka Shamel from Staten Island! 😂😂😂 Definitely worth the trip, and would go back whenever in town again.”

She was great and knowledgeable about the gluten free options. I LOVE pizza and struggle to find good GF pizza. Tara recommended a pizza she gets(kind of a build your own) I tried it and it was del.delicious. I could tell you, but you could also go check out Tara and the brewery for yourself. You won't be disappointed. I enjoyed a cider and a glass of wine. I will definitely be back. I THINK they have different events throughout the week. Check them out!”
