A W Shucks Raw Bar & Grill offers an excellent dining experience with fresh and delicious seafood options. The menu features dishes such as oyster Rockefeller with greens and steam shrimps with onions, bell pepper, and celery. This restaurant, a local favorite for decades tucked away in Norfolk off 21st street, is known for good food and excellent service, although recent reviews mention some inconsistency in service quality. It has a casual atmosphere with a long bar area, wonderful outdoor space, and a big indoor space. While the tables may be a bit sticky, the overall experience is worth visiting for a seafood dinner or treat. Diners have praised the fried oysters and crab dip, highlighting the quality of the crab cake and the size of the oysters. Customers enjoy the wings with old bay and the fresh catch. A W Shucks has become a go-to spot for seafood lovers, with many customers eager to return due to the fantastic food, including the popular bread pudding made with Krispy Kreme donuts. However, some reviews indicate that single diners may feel less attended to compared to groups, suggesting a need for more accommodating seating arrangements. Despite some service issues, particularly with one bartender, the quality of the food and the overall friendliness of the staff make A W Shucks a recommended choice for seafood enthusiasts. Recent diners have highlighted the broiled crab cake sandwich as the best in town and the Pleasure House oysters as exceptional. However, some found the crab dip to be greasy and felt that the shrimp platter was lacking in portion size. Reservations are recommended on busy dinner nights, especially for those visiting the nearby college.
