“I was able to come to this restaurant in support of Dining Out For Life Hampton Roads and I was in awe of the atmosphere. The restaurant was so gorgeous and eclectic! I enjoyed not only the food but also the music. I ordered the shrimp appetizer with the Steak platter and it was all so delicious! The portions were quite large so I ended up having to take a Togo box but my waitress Savannah was the most welcoming and she was so attentive. I will definitely be back to this establishment again.“

“My wife and I have consistently enjoyed Swell for several years. Service and food are exceptional! However, I'm posting this review because of something that occurred this evening. Two days ago, I received an email informing me of a new addition to their menu ...... she crab soup. My wife and I were thrilled and decided to check it out this evening. We arrived, order wine and a beer, and were informed that the she crab soup ran out yesterday. I'm hoping that, in the future, if the owner is going to advertise a new menu item, that item should be on the menu. If it is not available, the owner should consider sending an email to his VIP members.“

“We stopped here after dinner looking for somewhere casual to have a couple beers and hang out. It was lively without being unbearably packed, with pool tables, plenty of TVs, a DJ and a good people-watching atmosphere. We sat at the bar and each tried a couple beers we hadn't had before. The biggest surprise was the price! Four beers for about $13, which is almost unheard of anymore. 😂 Probably not somewhere we'd spend an entire evening, but for an inexpensive beer, sports (we watch College Football), and a lively atmosphere, we'd absolutely stop in again.“

“Attended a Murder Mystery Dinner event last weekend. Lovely venue. Gorgeous interior. Great entertainment. The actors were superb. The venue staff was terrific! The dinner for the event however was just not great. I think they had hired out catering. Most of my food was cold, and some of it did not match what was listed on the menu that would be served. By the time I got to the dessert line, there was nothing left… no sweet treats for our anniversary. Would definitely do the murder mystery part again, but only if they get the dinner part fixed.“

“Full disclosure, I was here for a private event. The area was very clean and organized. It would appear that it would Great for brunch. The view from their deck was very nice and sitting outside I'm sure is excellent the right time of year.

I am not going to comment on the service only cuz I don't think it's indicative of a regular visit. All the employees were pleasurable some more so than others.

“The setting is gorgeous, but the interior could use a designer for a more coastal environment. The crab cakes are the best in the area, but they need better healthy sides. I also had the best soft shell crab in the area there a few months ago. Hire a chef versus a cook. More healthy versions of seafood are needed versus mostly fried and salted. As an excellent cook, I could turn this place into a hot neighborhood spot that people could walk to/from. Many times the price does not meet the quality of food unless I order the crab cakes. I have seen waiters bring out broccoli with worms moving around and florets that have overstayed their time in the kitchen.“

“I visited 219 Bistro for the first time, and as someone who lives downtown, I’m so glad I finally stopped in! Since the weather was nice, I decided to sit outside, and my server was still very attentive and made sure I had everything I needed.

I tried their Wednesday three-course option, and everything was delicious. The truffle fries were fresh and so good, the shrimp scampi was delicious (next time I’ll just add a little more shrimp!), and the sorbet was the perfect dessert. I also had a pineapple-coconut martini that was absolutely delicious!

My server was friendly, knowledgeable, and helped me choose options that worked best for me. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be back!“

“This was hands down the best food I've had in Virginia since moving here 7 years ago. My husband and I have struggled finding a family friendly place to eat that's not a franchise and the same old crap. This place cooks with love. My hats off to the chef because we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The Fried Pimento Cheese Balls were heaven. “I was having a good time until my check came and I was charged a extra drink . the server Amber was very rude , said she was the manager and instead of correcting her mistake and thinking on it , she was rude and dismissive. I had a $20 tip for her. but I wrote on my receipt that extra drink is your tip. Very bad server experience. some people just aren't worth the argument .“

“We had a great experience at the restaurant. We had the smash burger and salmon meals for our dinner and both were delicious. The smash burger was #1 in our books though. The service was good and quick. We will definitely eat here again if we stay at this hotel or nearby.“
