“Session was my first stop when I got off the plane in Norfolk and it did not disappoint. My food was delicious with very generous portions. It is often difficult finding a restaurant with a variety of vegetarian options but they are plentiful here! The atmosphere was upbeat and fun, yet casual. I loved everything about this restaurant, including the owner, Kevin! I highly recommend this restaurant & will definitely return on future trips to VB. Thanks Zebbie for the recommendation ♥️“

“What a gem!! We chose Jimmy G's for our wedding reception. We had a small wedding so we reserved the private room. I cannot say enough about how beautiful the private room was with the big screen TV and warm, welcoming setting. Our waitress even set up a cake table for us. This was a perfect choice!! Now the food, INCREDIBLE!! My God, everything our party ordered was delicious!! We sat for the longest just talking about how good our food was. Our waitress, please forgive me. I don't remember her name but she was so sweet and amazing. During dinner the owner came to meet us and congratulated us as well as guests, staff and the manager were so kind. We were even offered a bottled of Moet by a couple at the bar. We don't drink so we politely declined but the offer alone was a perfect representation of the culture and love that permeates this establishment. We cut our cake and made sure to leave some for the staff. I really hope they enjoyed it as much as we did. Our Jimmy G's experience was the perfect end to the most beautiful and special day of our life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our night so special for our family and we will definitely be back for Jazz night!! Sincerely Mr. and Mrs. Greene“

“In town and searched for a dive type bar that I could shoot pool and have a draft beer. Staff were friendly and helpful. Patrons seemed local but nice. Pool table was decent, but in WAY too small of a room. Shooting from the long sides of the table was impossible if the cue ball was close to the rail. Overall, a nice dive spot with an outside patio area. Felt welcomed and safe. No drama.“

“ReadyRoom recently catered my family reunion dinner and we were delighted! The pierogi's were excellent - cheddar and cottage cheese varieties - and with feeding a roomful of Ukrainians, that's a tough crowd to impress! The schnitzels came with tons of toppings, far more than I'd expected to receive. Nichole was great to work with throughout the planning and with the changing numbers, and delivery was even a few minutes ahead of the promised time. I would definitely recommend them to cater your event!“
“Well folks I tend to believe that if you don't have something nice to say, you shouldn't say anything at all.....and that is because the light has not fully left my eyes yet.
However, I do got something nice to say, and so on this lovely day in May I'd like to share my thoughts and feelings.
This one's for Victoria. From me and my friend Scrub Mommy.
HERE WE GO:
Victoria is not just a beertender; she is a carbonation whisperer, a hop sommelier, and quite possibly the reason morale remains dangerously high at this establishment.
From the moment she steps behind the bar, beers pour smoother, smiles appear faster, and the taps themselves seem honored to be in her presence. Unsure what to order? Victoria will ask you three questions, read your soul, and deliver a pint so perfectly matched to your personality that you’ll briefly question whether she has psychic abilities (or at least a minor superpower granted by the Beer Gods).
She balances speed, kindness, and elite-level beer knowledge with the grace of someone who has never once spilled a drop—and if she has, the beer probably deserved it. Customers leave happier than when they arrived, coworkers feel supported and hydrated emotionally, and the vibes are consistently immaculate.
In short:
If Victoria is working, the beer tastes better.
If Victoria is not working, people ask where she is.
Promote her, clone her, or at the very least protect her at all costs. 🍻“

“A friend and I went there today, after the RV show. I haven’t been in there since probably 98-99. It was so nice going there today! The bartender, who served us was wonderfully friendly!! Will be back!!“
“Ken was a wonderful server-fast, friendly and knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to have him as our waiter twice, as we went back to the establishment for lunch the next day and were thrilled when we were seated at his table because we knew he would make our dining experience a stress-free enjoyable one, and he did!“

“The food was good. We ordered fish and shrimp, which came out nice and hot. The bartender was awesome; she was very pleasant and showed very good customer service. I wish I knew her name, she did tell us, but I forgot. Sorry about using the phrase 'she'-it was my first time there.“

“The Back Deck is very laid back and feels like home. They also have the hottest cook and the coldest beer in town!!! I highly recommend it... 5 stars for surell“
“Tangos is one of the very few small local bars left in virginia beach. There are soft-tip darts, 2 pool tables, digital games and vibe that makes you feel at home. It is one of the only smoking bars left in the area. They offer Trivia and Music Bingo 3 nights a week (Mon, Tue, Thur 7pm.) The owners are frequently there ensuring everyone is having a great time. The Bartenders are knowledgeable, fun and a little feisty. Take time out of your day to find this hidden gem.“

“Friendly local kind of bar. Lots of games, some pool and Tracy does a good job on Karaoke Saturday night. He is good with the Karaokers & plays good fill music. Only thing is, seating was a problem. This will be a problem for live entertainment like Karaoke. Good singers & Friends of singers will hesitate to return if anything is a hassle. I plan my karaoke nights on good sound, attentive KJ that adds songs for next week he doesn't have. and makes an effort to mix/blend the sound & reverb & singer. If kj doesn't know how to key change. That is major problem for me. All this is important but if no where to sit and party with new friends the bar can't grow and the party can't happen. Just my opinion.“

“My server Andrew was professional, friendly, helpful, and attentive. The chef salad was just as one would hope. But best of all, for me anyway, was the volume (low enough to enjoy conversation) and genre (classical!) of music. Such a very nice change of pace from country (ugh) or loud sportz on a TV.“

“Wow! What a hidden gem. We have lived here over 43 years and this by far, the best seafood restaurant we have been to. We were given a gift certificate as a gift and had never even heard of your amazing restaurant. You get 10/10 forks and that is only the second time I have given that high of a rating. We will be back soon, even though its a 40 minute drive to get there! Thank you for everything you offer. Perfection plus.“

“Verdict on Virginia Beach…compared to my usual favorites? Let’s break it down. (Full disclosure: I’m NOT a travel blogger, and this is kind of my first time venturing into writing extensively about vacation experiences. So bear with my grammar, spelling, and rambling thoughts!) Over the years, I’ve fallen hard for places like Grand Cayman, Miami Beach, and Palm Beach. So when I decided to give Virginia Beach another shot (after some abysmal childhood memories), specifically the Historic Cavalier Hotel, I came in with some pretty high standards. Here’s what I found: ✅ The Boardwalk Yes, Virginia Beach has one. And sure, it’s not 13 miles long like Miami’s, and there’s not a single mosaic dolphin in sight. It’s basically a long, sun-drenched stretch of concrete - no art or fun things to look at (other than a couple of small monuments). That said, there are more places to sit and watch the ocean roll in, which I appreciated. Just don’t expect palm trees or artistic flair. Miami still wins the creativity award, hands down. But both boardwalks are packed with runners, rollerbladers, and eye-candy fitness enthusiasts. Miami? Still undefeated when it comes to beautiful people in motion. WOWZER. 🤣🥵🔥🥵🔥🥵 ✅ The Beach Club Vibe Spending time at the Cavalier Beach Club (the hotel’s take on a “country club meets the beach” vibe) gave me slight Breakers-in-Palm-Beach energy. Emphasis on slight. There’s one pool (not four), no adults-only section, and zero chance someone’s handing you a $35 hotdog like they do at The Breakers (which, weirdly, is a real thing). But here’s the kicker: cocktails are $13–15 and food hovers around $20. In beachfront resort terms, that’s practically a miracle. ✅ The Hotel Honestly? I was shocked by how nice the rooms are at The Cavalier. No, they’re not Breakers or Ritz-Cayman-level luxurious, but I’d give them a solid 7.5 or 8 out of 10. Thoughtful design, cozy beds, and they even include all the ingredients to make an Old-Fashioned in your room (complete with a whole orange 🍊 and a knife to peel it!). It fits. Tarnished Truth Distillery is downstairs. Did I take a tour? No. Did I drink the bourbon? What do you think? 🥃 The historic property itself is absolutely beautiful and just as well maintained as any resort I’ve stayed at. ✅ Dining Scene I didn’t explore the local spots much, but the Cavalier and the Marriott Beachfront both seem to offer creative cocktails and solid menus. They’re on my list for next time. That said, let’s be honest. There’s no world where Virginia Beach competes with the Michelin-starred chefs or James Beard-award kitchens in Miami, Palm Beach, or Grand Cayman. So how does it all stack up? 🏝️ Grand Cayman still has my heart. The vibe, the people, the water, the luxury. It’s in a league of its own. (Only the Maldives come close, but that’s a whole other conversation.) And unlike the others, Cayman is a year-round destination. I can hop on a three-hour flight anytime and count on perfect weather. That’s hard to beat. 🌴 Miami Beach still wins for style, variety, and a walkable boardwalk with flair. But even Miami has its limits. I’ve been there in January and February, and it’s been too chilly to enjoy the beach. Beautiful? Yes. Pool weather? Not always. 💎 Palm Beach? Not even comparable. Palm Beach is a lifestyle. A category. A mood. If someone told me I could only eat at the Seafood Bar at The Breakers for the rest of my life and nowhere else, I’d happily accept that fate. But like Miami (and slightly worse, since it’s 70 miles further north), Palm Beach can be cold in January and February. It’s not a slam dunk winter destination either. Final Take Would I come back to The Cavalier? Absolutely. I’ve already booked six nights in September. It’s hands down the best beachfront resort within a 3 to 4 hour drive of Northern Virginia, and it’s perfect for a spontaneous escape. But make no mistake, this is a seasonal spot. From May through September, it’s great. Outside that window, it’s either too cold to enjoy or the beach club isn’t even open. (Which is honestly one of the m“

“Mermaids in Virginia Beach is a lot of fun!! Went in there the other night with some friends and the girls were so friendly, they made us feel right at home. They were amazing to watch! I was told they are getting ready for the Pole and Floor show competition on Saturday, May 18th. I think that's worth going to just from what I saw. The specials were fantastic and the menu was great for either a late night snack or a quick lunch. The music was good, kept everyone upbeat and the security was visible, but not over imposing, and that made everyone comfortable. Can't wait to go back and drag a few more friends out! Of course I would feel comfortable walking in there alone for a drink and a snack :)“
