“We frequent Embassy Suites in Virginia Beach often since they opened, and we always make several visits to Article’s Bar and Grill. The only reason this post isn’t a 1star review is because of Christian and Tripp both went above and beyond with their customer service. They were kind, attentive, and genuinely friendly. They are a true asset behind the bar and know how to make guests feel welcome. Unfortunately, we did have a very awkward and unpleasant encounter with another bartender (Lori) on two separate visits. We weren’t the only ones who noticed, her attitude came across as rude and unhappy to be there, which made customers uncomfortable. The first time, we let it go because everyone can have an off day. But the second time, her energy was even worse. I did bring it up to a manager on site, and I truly hope it gets addressed because that type of experience can easily drive customers away. Aside from that, the wings were delicious, and the drinks that Christian and Tripp prepared were great. Until next time—we’re hoping for a better experience overall.”

Our server Allie was a consummate professional, and the GM/sommelier was very friendly and knowledgeable. It’s a well-known fact that fine dining is not cheap, but not only were the prices not all that bad here, but the food quality was exceptional. They also have a special on Tuesdays: 50% off for service industry workers. I found that awesome, remembering where they started from, and making it available to those individuals. We are planning on making this a monthly thing for us. Shrimp tagliatelle for me, black squid ink linguine for her. Our entrees were chicken piccata for me, and she indulged in the roasted duck. For dessert, she selected a seasonal dessert special called It’s The Great Pumpkin, whereas I kept it simple with an affogato w/ French vanilla bean ice cream. 10/10 - would definitely recommend!!”

“Aldo’s is my absolute favorite restaurant! I am a very picky eater. My husband, (boyfriend at the time) , took me to Aldo’s on one of our first dates in 1990. If he was trying to impress me..it worked! Jim, the owner, has been there since the beginning and he is amazing! He has treated us like gold for 34 years now! He has sent wine and dessert over on our anniversary, compliments of the restaurant! He always asks us how everything was and of course, it’s always perfect! I have never had an issue. The atmosphere is incredible, very romantic and relaxing. There is live piano and the wait staff are top notch. Jim only hires the best! They have authentic Italian food that has so much flavor and there is nothing like it! I highly recommend Aldo’s for fine dining and just an overall fabulous experience!”

Overall food is good and fresh. Please make sure your order is correct. Had two orders that were incorrect to my advantage, meaning someone else got the wrong order with less food.”

“Came up to the window and ordered a quarter pounder, large fries, and a pup cup for my dog. So he says that they will make something. So I go to the window to pay and they see Aurora and take my card. I asked if the pup cup was on there and she said they had something different. So now me and Aurora go to pick up our food. So I grabbed the bag with the quarter pounder and fries and she gives me another bag. So I look and see chocolate chip cookies. I went to turn back and tell her that she wouldn't be able to eat them and in her hand she had a cup of whip cream just for Aurora! I feel bad for not having much time to thank them and when I looked back at the recipe it only had the fries and burger. I found it really sweet that they gave us free cookies and a pup cup. Aurora really enjoyed her pup cup and we look forward to coming back soon!”

Our bartender was fantastic and so helpful and explained the menu as well as being open to any questions. I don’t like regular pizza but I do love a white pizza. She’d been before, last summer, and had been talking for almost that long about the Greek Burger. We made a trip over for dinner on Monday night—and went back for lunch on Tuesday. Everything was good—from the atmosphere and very professional wait staff, to the hummus, stuffed grape leaves (some of the best I’ve ever had) served with real tzatziki, the burgers, the bread, the tabouli salad, the lamb, the beef shwarma wrap…absolutely 4 star experiences! Will definitely see you next summer—several times.”

Followed by a variety of dishes from chili rellenos to enchiladas that were all consistently tasty. So if you are searching for some east coast Mexican food, look no farther.”

That surprised me because I spoke to him about the horrible microwaved mashed potatoes which he lied and said they weren't microwaved. Won't be returning. You get one shot to earn someone's business and unfortunately they failed.”

He was an outstanding server answering all of our questions and was very attentive. He suggested a couple of his favorite entrees and we were not disappointed. The Power Bowl was massive and my husband really enjoyed it. I had the veggie omelet topped with goat cheese. It was delicious! Excellent coffee,too!!! We will definitely be going back!”

The sushi is the best and the highest quality my husband and friends and I have ever had. It’s made fresh, made with love, and the fish melts in your mouth. Highly recommend the black widow roll, the escolar g2g roll, the miso soup (oh my GAWD) and the salmon belly. This food is so good that it made me question reality. The staff is so sweet and I love that they take their time to make a connection with you. The inside is also calm, but with a vintage vibe. “Monday to treat myself for a late Mother's Day because I had to work at my restaurant on Mother's Day after enjoying a great meal the only seafood restaurant I eat at is Dockside and I live an hour and a half away but after my meal realized I locked my keys in the car the manager Angie hope to me in every way possible for the 3-hour wait that I had to get into my car my phone died so she had to relay all the tow company messages to me she kept checking on me she went above and beyond and she doesn't even know me that's what was so amazing to me that if she could do all this for somebody she didn't know wow I can see why she is a manager to oversee that restaurant which is not a very easy job to do the cooks are exceptional every meal and every experience I have ever had there has been good and Monday they have no idea how they made my day a little kindness goes a long way thank you Dockside”

An unexpected gem after spending a little time at Chick‘s Beach with the family… Was not expecting the excellence we got from the moment we walked in. The staff was quick to greet, and very friendly. The atmosphere was really lovely, nice low, but perfectly sufficient lighting, a lovely patio with hanging lights and the back of the restaurant overlooks the water and a lovely little walking bridge, beautiful stonework bar, with a superb whiskey selection, though I was in the mood for beer last night… Our server, Natalie, was incredibly warm and helpful, offered to let me to taste some of the beer on tap, which led to me purchasing a pint of one of the most deliciously creamy raspberry wheat beers I’ve ever had. She recommended the pizza rustica, and I, as a chef of 13 years, was skeptical that it would be as good as it was, but yet again, perfection. There was literally nothing wrong, I tried a bite of each of my family members’ food as well because I do that... It was all excellent, the “avocado and IPA bacon grilled cheese” my daughter ordered was my second favorite after the pizza. Just a fantastic spot. Worth a trip out to Virginia Beach for dinner from anywhere else in Hampton Rose, even without a prerequisite beach trip.”

The pork rinds are the best you can get. The wings with the dry rub are killer. We got the Tommy Boy, a sometimes Friday special, the best pastrami sandwich at the Beach. “What a gem!! We chose Jimmy G's for our wedding reception. We had a small wedding so we reserved the private room. I cannot say enough about how beautiful the private room was with the big screen TV and warm, welcoming setting. Our waitress even set up a cake table for us. This was a perfect choice!! Now the food, INCREDIBLE!! My God, everything our party ordered was delicious!! We sat for the longest just talking about how good our food was. Our waitress, please forgive me. I don't remember her name but she was so sweet and amazing. During dinner the owner came to meet us and congratulated us as well as guests, staff and the manager were so kind. We were even offered a bottled of Moet by a couple at the bar. We don't drink so we politely declined but the offer alone was a perfect representation of the culture and love that permeates this establishment. We cut our cake and made sure to leave some for the staff. I really hope they enjoyed it as much as we did. Our Jimmy G's experience was the perfect end to the most beautiful and special day of our life. My husband got the whole fried red snapper while I created my own little sampler out of entrees. They were the oxtail empanadas, crab cake sliders and salmon bites. It was all scrumptious! I'm from the West Coast and lived on the best Mexican food available where the ladies made corn tortillas by hand in front of you. While no Mexican restaurant does that here on the East Coast, you won't believe how good the food is at the Shore Drive, Tequila Jalisco. (Don't waste your time going to the other Tequila Jalisco's as it all depends on the chief.) The best chilies relleno I've ever eaten and each one of their steak dishes are unbelievably tasty, or go for the fajitas or one of their big fat burritos and be sure to treat yourself to their home made guacamole with chunks of avocado, all with a well made margarita. It took me a long time to find a decent Mexican restaurant here in Virginia Beach, but I've now found a home with friendly servers and a warm atmosphere. Life can be so good...”

Asked us if we have been at Orions before and what brought us to Orion’s etc, which is a good quality for any upscale restaurant manager to build rapport with customers. We ordered three of Wagyu dishes, two specialty sushi rolls, filet mignon (which was savory & tender!), edamame and topped it off with the Krispy Kreme bread pudding with vanilla ice cream on top. The food at Jose Tequilas Cocina Mexicana was fantastic, and the service was excellent from start to finish. We were seated immediately, no wait at all. The only small downside was that our seating area was a bit confined, which made things a little loud, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. Definitely coming back if I'm out this way again.”

“My husband and I went yesterday to celebrate our 19th marriage anniversary, and were highly impressed with everything from the moment we walked in. We loved sitting at the curved booth too! Our server Larry was the best! He made sure my drinks were just the way I wanted… And they don’t short you alcohol- just saying! Lol, my husband has a higher tolerance than I and mentioned it. My husband got the whole fried red snapper while I created my own little sampler out of entrees. They were the oxtail empanadas, crab cake sliders and salmon bites. It was all scrumptious! I tried my husband’s red snapper and one of his shrimp- YESSSSS!! 🤤😋🙂↕️ I even made sure to bring even the sauces home with my little bit of left-overs. Looking forward to Father’s Day brunch next month. I’ve already made reservations. 🙂↕️ Thank you to all of the staff, even to the ones we didn’t meet who made our experience that much better.”
