An unexpected gem after spending a little time at Chick‘s Beach with the family… Was not expecting the excellence we got from the moment we walked in. The staff was quick to greet, and very friendly. The atmosphere was really lovely, nice low, but perfectly sufficient lighting, a lovely patio with hanging lights and the back of the restaurant overlooks the water and a lovely little walking bridge, beautiful stonework bar, with a superb whiskey selection, though I was in the mood for beer last night… Our server, Natalie, was incredibly warm and helpful, offered to let me to taste some of the beer on tap, which led to me purchasing a pint of one of the most deliciously creamy raspberry wheat beers I’ve ever had. She recommended the pizza rustica, and I, as a chef of 13 years, was skeptical that it would be as good as it was, but yet again, perfection. There was literally nothing wrong, I tried a bite of each of my family members’ food as well because I do that... It was all excellent, the “avocado and IPA bacon grilled cheese” my daughter ordered was my second favorite after the pizza. Just a fantastic spot. Worth a trip out to Virginia Beach for dinner from anywhere else in Hampton Rose, even without a prerequisite beach trip.“

“My husband and I stopped by on our way home. We've driven past multiple times, but since we were hungry this time, we figured we could try their pizza. We came in around 2pm and it was pretty quiet, which was nice. Our server Katie grabbed our drinks, took our orders, and was polite and friendly. The fried pickles tasted fresh, briny, and delicious. The pizza was good with a very tasty crust and tomatoey sauce. The cheese and pepperoni were good. I probably wouldn't order sausage on our pizza again as it didn't taste like Italian sausage, but almost tasted like breakfast sausage, being too sweet. The only downside to our meal was the group of servers standing around to loudly gossip in the hallway right next to the dining room. And the group of children that came running out of the game room in the back rattled the entire room, sending our table and booth to shaking. “Aldo’s is my absolute favorite restaurant! I am a very picky eater. My husband, (boyfriend at the time) , took me to Aldo’s on one of our first dates in 1990. If he was trying to impress me..it worked! Jim, the owner, has been there since the beginning and he is amazing! He has treated us like gold for 34 years now! He has sent wine and dessert over on our anniversary, compliments of the restaurant! He always asks us how everything was and of course, it’s always perfect! I have never had an issue. The atmosphere is incredible, very romantic and relaxing. There is live piano and the wait staff are top notch. Jim only hires the best! They have authentic Italian food that has so much flavor and there is nothing like it! I highly recommend Aldo’s for fine dining and just an overall fabulous experience!“

“A nice place to have a drink specifically beer, and to relax. They have a spacious outdoor area in the back where you can sit in the sun or in the shade. The grass is Astroturf-ish. It appears to be pet-friendly as I saw dogs being brought in. There's even various yard games if you're into that as well. Inside the main building, you can relax in an air-conditioned setting, They have a kitchen to order food from and offer plenty of canned versions of their beer if you're simply looking to get beer to-go. They have merch as well. You could probably ask of holding a private event as it appears they can accommodate for that. Parking is extremely limited and you'll have to park slightly down the street if that's the case. The staff are polite and professional. They are following current respiratory hygiene guidelines. Recommended.“

The pizza was a bit disappointing paper thin pizza , very dry and crust not cooked thoroughly and not fresh. The taste was good but not enough cheese. Wandered on a whim hoping to find some good Italian food & boy did we!

We started with the calamari which was exceptional! Light, crispy breading with a perfect cook. The seasoning wasn't overwhelming and the sauce had great flavor. We added some crushed chili flakes which upped our satisfaction. Arrabiata wouldn't go amiss here.

Mom got a cheese steak with extra crispy french fries and didn't have any notes. Huge portion of both.

I went with the eggplant Parmesan sub. It came out piping hot with the perfect amount of cheese & tasty sauce. I do wish the eggplant was less soggy, but it didn't detract too much from the overall flavor of the sandwich.

Service was excellent. I didn't catch our server's name, but he was very accommodating & genuine.

We will definitely be back to check out the pizza & calzones.“

Didn't have time for the Chicago-style thick crust this trip but the thin crust was definitely on point and the sausage they use was some of the best we've ever had on a pizza. It'll be double sausage next time and the will most definitely be a next time.“

“Ate here Thursday the 10th, food was tasty. The parking was confusing as there were signs all over of the risk of being towed. Asked someone in parking lot how the restaurant is. They stated very rustic but food is good. Our server Lindsey was awesome. Choice of beer on tap was mostly IPAs, not our favorites. Not many Craft beers available. I got the DB Vienna Lager which is always a good fall back when there's nothing else. The IPA my partner had was your typical grapefruity bitter IPA, not good. We ordered a dozen Clams Casino which were made to perfection! And we shared the Blackened Tuna cooked medium served on a roll. Yummy. It came with a little cup of wasabi a little too intense for our taste buds so we asked for tartar sauce instead. This came with a generous amount of Hush Puppies with butter on the side. I have never been offered butter with my Hush Puppies but I will be asking for it this way from now on, delish. Staff was very accommodating and friendly.“

“I moved from Kempsville to Birdneck in February 2024, I found South Beach Pizza and I have since ordered only from them because they are reliable, all the food they advertise is as good as it looks on the menu. Since then, they have been the backbone of good Italian pizza and pasta, etc. around the upcoming events at the Sportsplex and the new “Pavilion” Center.
