“We had an overnight stop in Norfolk before heading off to OBX on a Sunday and had some time to kill in the morning before our ride arrived. We were searching for a locally-owned brunch spot and saw Canvas Social Cuisine was recommended across a number of websites. Reviewed the menu ahead of time and knew we had found our spot.
We did not think to check the opening time so arrived at 1030ish ready for breakfast only to find out we were not in Seattle anymore. Didn't open til 11 but no problem! It was a beautiful day so we took a walk around the neighborhood and had a lovely time window shopping and taking in the downtown area. We got back right at 11 and had no issues getting a table. Service was amazing with everyone having a genuine smile on their face. Music was awesome if a little loud at times, but nothing that detracted from our experience. I got the chicken and waffles with Mac and cheese and my friend got the fried chicken benedict. Everything was delicious and they even had a few mocktails on the menu which we love to see! We were disappointed we didn't have more time to enjoy a hookah at the table but if I ever find myself in Norfolk again I'll definitely be coming back.“

“this place is absolutely delicious. I was with a bunch of guys who all raved over their brisket and pulled pork. I had the salmon, which is not always the best idea at a bbq joint but it was outSTANDing! the fired green tomatoes were yummy too. with a cool, modern building in the heart of Ghent and super friendly staff, this place is going to become a new hangout. we were there for lunch so we haven't tried the bar scene but that's next on the list. if I could give it an 11 out of 10, I would!“

“Best fried chicken I’ve had. I’m new to Virginia. Crispy, crunchy, moist. Seems easy to describe but hard to find. Most people are getting take out. Tables aren’t super clean and the bathroom is more of a “for emergency only” type situation. Just do the take out and you’re good. Staff is friendly.“

“This is one of my favorite dive bars in the area. Great summer atmosphere. There's a huge deck over on the river, they had live music and a good happy hour. Everyday has a special for food. The staff are cool and personable, they shared home made hot sauce with me for my wings. They just need more heavy duty beers.“

“Absolutely delicious food. The blend of all the different flavors was heavenly. I have celiac and love how I didn’t have to worry about contamination or have to compromise on food quality. The staff was very friendly. My friend brought me here for my birthday, and I’m So grateful. I will be returning and recommending this place.“
