“I have to start by saying that this food is fantastic. Probably the best greens I've ever had, excellent fish, just all around delicious. I was very impressed by the quality of the food, as well as the pretty good price. The staff was also extremely friendly, helpful, courteous, really all around an excellent experience.

The only, and I mean only detraction from my visit was the "no weapons" sign posted on the door. I have no desire to make this into a political statement, but a sign prohibiting lawful self-defense will only affect the those people who are willing to abide by it. A criminal will ignore such a sign, and the people inside will be left defenseless. Unfortunately, no matter how good the food is, I cannot compromise my safety and I will not be able to return until I am allowed to protect myself.“

“The Sunday Buffet is simply to die for; however, their plated dinners during the week are just as awesome. It is a must that before you leave this earth (lol) that you order their Ultimate Shrimp and Grits with the fish, scallops and special seafood cream sauce. You will definitely NOT be disappointed by this restaurant establishment. 5 star service and food!!!“

Recently, I was at work thinking about how I wanted some collatd greens, wondering where I could order some from. I googled and this spot popped up! I called , ordered & my son picked our food up. The call taker was so patient and professional. Items we've tried :mac n cheese, collars, yams, turkey chops, pork chops , dumpster fries ?& fried whiting ( the 3xs we 've ordered in 2 wks) Our food was sooo tasty that I tried calling back to see if they catered! ? “We had an overnight stop in Norfolk before heading off to OBX on a Sunday and had some time to kill in the morning before our ride arrived. We were searching for a locally-owned brunch spot and saw Canvas Social Cuisine was recommended across a number of websites. Reviewed the menu ahead of time and knew we had found our spot.
We did not think to check the opening time so arrived at 1030ish ready for breakfast only to find out we were not in Seattle anymore. Didn't open til 11 but no problem! It was a beautiful day so we took a walk around the neighborhood and had a lovely time window shopping and taking in the downtown area. We got back right at 11 and had no issues getting a table. Service was amazing with everyone having a genuine smile on their face. Music was awesome if a little loud at times, but nothing that detracted from our experience. I got the chicken and waffles with Mac and cheese and my friend got the fried chicken benedict. Everything was delicious and they even had a few mocktails on the menu which we love to see! We were disappointed we didn't have more time to enjoy a hookah at the table but if I ever find myself in Norfolk again I'll definitely be coming back.“

“Yo the food is really good, it really reminded me of eating at my grandmother’s spot. There are two restaurants beside this place, one of the has been accused of being racist against African Americans, while the other one sells basic tasting and not the best Chinese ( Yum Yums has far better Chinese in Colley) food. I highly recommend spending your dollars and showing your support by enjoying the great food they offer and make your soul smile. Peace and blessings.“
