Technically, the VB Blvd location is closer to me, but the ladies running this location are so sweet and friendly, I just like going back there because I know they will make it a pleasant experience. Plus, my food has always been great. I grew up (early 80's to mid 90's) eating at Captain D's and it's still one of my favorite places. There's definitely a nostalgia element to it for me.

Just close it down, team was trying but O Ryan working the cashier couldn't comprehend what takeout or dine in meant and asbI waited for my order that I placed 20 minutes ahead I watched O Ryan mess up 17 orders in the 45 minutes I waited to get my order and seen coached 16 times by his peers and management to quit doing it.
I get my good no apology no extra sauce was even given to me truly a waste of am hour and $50 bucks

This is a staple of the large surrounding community! It’s been in this area for years, however the business needs an upgrade. The store interior is outdated. The air conditioner does not work well, the floors are mopped with dirty water and they may be short staffed 3-5 days out of the week. Staff members are friendly but don’t maintain a clean environment considering all the money this location makes a year! Not fair to the staff or patrons! Dusty caving ceilings, stinch of urine in the dining areas from the mop water, sticky tables and doors and worn out dining furniture , outdated bathrooms. A mess.

Decided to try for the first time in 5+ years and fully regret spending $15 bucks. The catfish was mushy and the breading lacked flavor. The ham in the green beans was gray and the beans had a weird taste. The hush puppies were soggy and the tea taste like it’s been sitting out for a couple days. No wonder why I see so many closing down🤢
By the time we got our food. The coleslaw was warm and the fish was greasy and not flaky like it used to be almost stale tasting. I know the drive-thru can take a bit for your food but it seemed to be longer than normal.

I always make at least on stop to see the captain when I'm in the Norfolk area. But when I heard they have lobster rolls I had to load up the crew, raise the anchor and hoist the sail on the USS Chrysler Pacifica and set sail. The waters where rough on the way but we finally docked up next to the captains port and were friendly greeted by the crew, ordered our grub and quickly received our load. The food was hot, tastey, fresh and good portions. Well enough to curb the scurvy on my crew. Although the area is a bit sketchy, the captain is a treasure chest of fried goodness. Not sure why all the negative reviews but I guess you can never please a pirate.

Captin Ds has disappointed me the last two times I’ve been to this location last time I got the lunch special and my fried fish breading was soggy decided to try again a month later and got a family meal and my food was fried in old grease and had black breading on all my fish. Check all your food before pulling off they got me twice now I won’t risk it again personally
