Best service and great atmosphere! The icing on the cake was the best seafood platter we have ever had and most excellent fried green tomatoes! It was indeed groovy and highly recommend!

Soft shell crabs were good but batter way too thick. Fried shrimp was tasty. Disappointed they charge extra if you need more cocktail sauce. Said something to the manager and they said they have addressed it and patrons will only be charged extra for ranch and blue cheese. Really? I'm sorry, our bill for 2 was over $100 with tip. (Only 1 glass of wine) charging extra for a condiment is absurd.

New owners, same great place. The bartender was stellar. The grandkids loved it. The wait staff treated them so kindly. The owner stopped by to check on us. Best wings in Tidewater! Great seafood. You just gotta go here.

I used to love Captain Groovys. I would always talk about how it had the best wings. It was one of my favorite places and encapsulated the quirky vibes of the community really well. They also had the best happy hour of anywhere nearby, boasting 50% of beer and a great menu of $5-8 cocktails. The new owners are changing a lot about what made the place special. If you even try to comment to them to point out, you pay more per wing at the happy hour price than the normal price they will block you on social media. I had also mentioned getting the seafood platter and the only thing decent was the flounder. The coleslaw/potato salad were both bad, the crabcake lacked any sort of flavor, and none of it was really indicative of a $33 dish. I had wondered why all of the comments seemed censored and now I know why. Will I go back? Probably at some point since that place is one of few to get an etouffee, unless that becomes unrecognizable too. I understand that things change with new ownership and I am willing to give it a try, but I miss that "special thing" about the place that is gone.

Indoor and outdoor seating is great. Staff is great. Food was delicious. They can accommodate a fairly large group but space is tight. Definitely suited for smaller parties.
First time coming today! So glad we did. I was craving a po boy and unfortunately they changed their menu and stopped serving it before 3. My server was Ashley and she knew I wanted it and asked the chef to make and he did. She crab soup was good too. Po boy came out and had a lot of shrimp. Very good will be coming back next time we go out. Thanks ashley

Bad food, bad service. Don’t waste your time.4Went back to retry after new management. Still not pleased. Crushes are 9 dollars, they put them in small glasses. We poured it into a regular glass and it’s almost exactly half a normal glass. But you can’t forget the entire small glass is also filled with ice. You’re maybe getting 1/4th cup of liquid/ drink for 9 dollars. Total rip off. Food mediocre, fries fall apart into small bits so you have to eat them with a fork. They also served our food and I waited 5 minutes for my fries. Calamari had only legs, and the sauce was not good according to my entire table. I will never be back.
