We came here a few years ago and it was great. We’re visiting in Norfolk again, so we looked online this morning to see that their Google listing clearly states that they’re open. We drove across town only to discover they have been closed for renovations for the past month. It takes 60 seconds to update business hours on Google, but they didn’t take the time to do this which is very inconsiderate and unprofessional. We’re at Little Dog Diner down the street now, and will likely come here next time we’re in town rather than Charlie’s.

Drove 25 minutes to get there. Waited 40 plus minutes for my food. Paid $34 food for 2. Get home, I'm missing turkey sausage links, grits, and toast. French toast was ok, veggie omelet was ok, corn beef hash was good. I would try it again but no time soon.

This place has always been awesome from the first time i stepped in 20 years ago when I was a carpenter. Built in the early 1900s the site has been home to several interesting establishments over the last 120 plus years. Including the hit hotdog joint and Doumars rival Swanky Franks. Charley Ellison and his mother Gladys found the location absolutely amazing and Charlie's Cafe was born. As of today the service remains amazing and the the classic American comfort food is right on target. With generous portions and accordingly priced menu options... you'll leave full without an empty wallet. If you really want to know where Tom Hanks eats in Norfolk Va , you've found it.

Just like home! Small corner neighborhood spot, very friendly, staff was attentive ,and the food was really good! In the summer, you are going to be hot eating here. There's outside seating with a few tables inside but it's hot inside too. I loved the hole-in-wall atmosphere. I would definitely eat here again.
