Food was tasty and plentiful, but service was awful. We had 14 in our party and service was super slow. I had to go inside (we had outside seating) to inquire when our food was coming out. Waitress was polite, but told me that it was coming out and that it had been approximately 20-30 minutes, but it was actually 42 minutes. And I didn't particularly like the way I was approached by the bartender and our waitress when I went inside,..like I didn't belong in there...Will I ever return??? Probably not...

This a a frequent go-to for me! If you're a fan of southern food, large portions, great service, fancy beer, and casual atmosphere - LOOK NO MORE! I love this place. I am a southerner and love good cooking. I swear they stole the recipe for meat loaf from my mom. Other good dishes are their fried chicken, & country fried steak. I still have to work my way down the menu. Highly recommended.

Update: 4/2/2018: decided to give chow another try after 2 years and my husband and I were pleasantly surprised by how much it had improved since our last visits! Very happy to report this, as we live near by and will definitely be back. We got the fried green tomatoes—so good, even if you don't normally like tomatoes. I had the shrimp and grits for dinner, which is was excellent! We left happy and very stuffed :) Wanted this to be better than it ended up being. Found food to be just mediocre :(

Laid back spot in Ghent area of Norfolk. My wife & I went here on a Saturday night and were met with a friendly greeting from the hostess. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I had the spicy clams and they were great. My wife had the chicken & sweet potato pancake and she was very pleased with every thing. I had the blackened salmon w/collard greens and green beans. Thought I was eating at a family function they were so good. For dessert I tried the hummingbird cake and it was delicious. We will definitely be back.
