The El Rey burrito is great, good portion for the price. The service is fast and friendly! The salsas were okay, but you don't necessarily need it because the food is flavorful. Definitely check out this location if you're in Norfolk.

I ordered a torte and 6 tamales. Got there to pick them up and the total was $49 dollars!!!!!!! Got home and the torte did not have hardly any meat in it, it had mostly all lettuce, the tamales had very little meat in them they was very thick but it was all mesa!!!! Very disappointed

At first glance I was just happy to find a place open at 9am.
Looking at the menu I went with a breakfast burrito with a choice of meat. I went with Chorizo.
I inquired about black beans in it and pica de gallo. The lady taking my order said no to black beans but they do refried beans. They can add pica de gallo. She seemed kind of annoyed that I was asking questions.
I also asked for Verde sauce on the side which they did.
I got it to go based on my experience at the register.
First couple of bites were just to open it up for the verde sauce. My first impression was the texture, it was like mush. Like a microwave bean burrito.
I couldn’t taste the chorizo at all. Which was pretty disappointing. The pica de gallo or the verde needed more lime or cilantro. Just didn’t have that punch I was looking for.
Overall it was ok. I think if I was really hungry between 9am and 11am I would eat here. Maybe try one of their signature burritos or the mega taco. I’m sure I will be back to try something else.
For me though the breakfast burrito just didn’t slap at all. 😢

Honestly the best authentic tacos I’ve had since I moved to this side of the state! It’s a tiny space, seating is limited. But the vibe is exactly what I look for in authentic Mexican food, and the tacos were so good im already ready to go back 2 hours later. The lady working the counter was really nice, even checked in to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Loved all the staff that we saw/interacted with. I had 3 tacos, one chicken, one steak, and the Mexican bbq. The chicken was my fav but the steak was incredibly well done too. The hot sauce they had available appears to be house made, super spicy and delicious. Husband had the shrimp birria tacos and said the shrimp were perfectly cooked. His overall review is just as glowing as mine. We’ll be returning soon to try more of the menu items

I was really excited to try this place, but the wait was pretty gnarly and they forgot a lot of toppings on my already $17 tacos and my drink until after I asked for it. The tacos were okay, but not for the price. Pretty disappointed 😭

Extremely bland California burrito. I don’t think there were any seasonings at all. Very slow, they forgot an item in our order, and an item was made incorrectly. Nothing tasted fresh. Very expensive for what we got. The staff was nice but couldn’t make up for the disappointing experience.

I'm a California Latina, this is the closest Mexican food I can find in Virginia. It's Excellent.! Little pricey but worth it

After ordering their cheese Birria tacos from the food truck, we made it a mission to see if they've a location. I drove all the way from Portsmouth! Great taste and fast service(20min). Will try the 2nd location next time gracias! 🙂
