The food was bland š„². I was excited for the tacos but the bbq beef was very greasy on top of being bland. The server was kind but it was only her during rush hour. The rice was yummy

There is absolutely no reason 3 shrimp tacos should $28.00.
You get a 1/2 lb of shrimp at a seafood boil spot for a less than that!
Had I understood the man who took my phone order I wouldāve never come, to be honestā¦and the tacos were just okayānothing worth near $10/ taco. Iām sorry.
I understand trying to make a living and even catering to a particular crowd or whatever the case may be actually be, but there is no justification for a $10 corn tortilla taco. I believe I counted 8 shrimps altogetherā¦for $28. Unsat, guys. Nice staff though.

Outstanding food. The chips and salsa that they served as an appetizer were delicious. The chips were nice thick and crisp and the salsa was thick chunky and perfectly seasoned.
Probably the best chimichanga Iāve had in a long time. The salad was fresh, the rice was firm and perfectly seasoned, and the chimichanga itself was crisp without being burnt and nicely fried with no oily taste. Steak was nicely seasoned, and the refried came in a fried tortilla cup.
My wife had the flautas and was very impressed
My only knock on the place was that we had issues with flies indoor. I realize that with an outdoor seating area and the staff going in and out frequently that that can happen, but it really did take away from the overall enjoyment of the meal.
I will definitely be back.

The place is a gem. Simply amazing and authentic to the bone. This is the place to visit for tacos if you were interested in variety. Jessy's has more than just chicken, beef and pork.

The outside area is nice, meals come with free nachos and salsa, the salsa is sweeter than most Mexican restaurants. I had the steak Fajitas, the tortillas fell apart making for a tasty , messy meal

Restaurantji Recommends
Jesse's is simply THE BEST Mexican food in Norfolk. It can be busy, but you expect that if since the food is so good. The tacos and ceviche are worth a special mention, but all the dishes are authentic. We usually sit at the bar, but there's limited space at the bar...so get there before 6pm. They have a large menu but not overwhelming. They will also will make appropriate recommendations if you ask. Some people judge a Mexican restaurant by the quality of their margaritas. I do not. That said, the Margaritas are good, but they have a host of other cocktails and specialty drinks that are delicious. The beer tap beer offerings are sufficient. The atmosphere is casual, but, you'll see a few people there moderately dressed up. Mostly, it's about the food for me. You won't be disappointed.

My fiancĆ© & I tried this place several months ago & got a mixed batch of tacos. They were not good at all. Very bland & tasted old. Months went by & we decided give it one more shot. We both got ceviche tonight & the fish & shrimp tasted absolutely rotten. Not like it was lacking flavor but that it was actually rotten. The tostadas it was served with were also completely stale. We both took one bite & couldnāt even manage to swallow it was that bad. You could tell the place was short staffed as the service was slow, disorganized & chaotic at times. I donāt blame the server for it seemed like he was doing the best he could. We asked for the check, paid for the rotten fish & left. I will never go back to this establishment & will warn anyone not to go here. I hope if you go there you have a better experience than we had.
The meals come with free nachos and salsa, the salsa is sweeter than most Mexican restaurants, I ordered steak fajitas, very tasty however the tortillas fell apart making for a tasty , messy meal. The beans were soupy yet yummy. Great outside atmosphere.
Dinner was kind of bland, but the waiter we had was amazing. We came in after a kickball game with a group of 20 right at
closing, and they were very accommodating. But we ended the evening with a cockroach running across the wall. They had the door open all night, though, so it could have just come in, not because of a lack of cleanliness but we will never know.
