Did I go to the same place as these 5 star reviews?? Met a friend for breakfast on a Sunday. The selection seemed sparse but we both tried the quiche, goat cheese and ham/cheese. They were already made and sitting in the display. They did warm them up before serving to us but honestly they were not very warm and the egg was quite overcooked and the pastry was not very flaky. I also ordered a pain au chocolat (which they called a chocolatine). I asked them to warm it but was told they would/could not. The dough was very dense, not flaky, the chocolate was hard because it was cold. My first thought was that they are not fresh made. Very store bought vibe to them. All in all not worth my drive through the HRBT to go here. I could have bought frozen pain au chocolat at Trader Joe’s and cooked them at home with my own espresso and had a far more enjoyable morning. So what am I missing that this place has such great reviews??? Lots of people came in and the place seemed busy. I can only think the 5 star reviews have actually never had a really French croissant before, or we just had a very unfortunate visit.

The owners are not good people. Find a better bakery run by better people.

Parking: There is a shared parking lot with Fair Grounds coffee. There are 2-hour parking spots on the street, as well.

Pretty good stuff. If you are dieting stay away! If you are needing sugar and buttery products head on over!

The best word to describe this place is delightful. Located in a charming spot on Colley Avenue, this cafe truly impressed us. The environment and decor are comfortable and clean, creating an inviting atmosphere. The staff were friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed croissants and tarts, all of which were delicious. This charming cafe is a must-visit in Norfolk and has officially been added to our go-to list!

La Brioche ???☕️
- lil French pastry place
- got a chocolate ganache cake 8/10
- an apple turnover
- finally three macaroons (raspberry, lemon, and blueberry lavender)
- overall can be pricey and just ok

Totally worth going out of your way for this place. Such an amazing little cafe. The service and the food is AMAZING. You can also tell it's just a tiny husband and wife owned operation that is a treasure to the community.

Haven't had a single bad thing here, and the coffee is always amazing as well. Half of the customers there, when I went, were also French and it's fun to sit and listen to the conversations.

Also fun to watch people light up with joy when they get handed their fresh baguettes!

I've come here for a long time before they moved, and I'll stay coming to their new location. I love their pastries. Service is good, as compared to other bakeries in the area, they are better priced. It would be cool if I could get a lavender mocha there, but that's not their jam, and that's cool. If you haven't had a chance to check it out I would highly suggest you do so.

Kid-friendliness: My kid loves their pastries. I never feel like a burden bringing my toddler inside, which is something I cannot say for other businesses around town.

Excellent French bakery with delicious French pastries. Being a Norman-born American citizen, I grew up eating fine food from real French bakeries, and this one is no exception. This is the real deal. Very clean location, amazing service.

Since moving to the new Colley Ave location, the pastries are still just as amazing. Here’s hoping that they will eventually have a bit more generous (and consistent!) opening times.

Go-to place for croissants, pastries, and more. Glad to see them up and running at their new Colley Avenue location. Can’t wait until they are back to normal operating hours, so I can drop in anytime. Love La Brioche.

Very good French style bakery. We really liked that the cakes were not overly sweet or heavy. The tarts were very good and the shells were crisp and buttery. We will be coming again.
