Not professional and food was not well cooked and butter beans was salty. Purchase pork chops was not cooked well asked if I could get something else and I guess she was manager stated she couldn’t replace it with nothing else. What a shame. Just warning you ahead….

Went for lunch ordered meat loaf had none.got ribs so tough was cold seemed like it was leftover from day before.Had no salads had no desserts.this was at noon.only pleasant thing was a nice waitress.will not go back.

Went today 7/30/2022 around 1ish tell me why it wasn't alot of options when you open at 11 but anyway i got hamburger steak onions and gravy white rice and cabbage asked for roll by the way got cornbread mind you i seen a fly sitting on a piece cost was 19 dollars and change these people should be ashamed of there self i should've took my daughters advice when she said it was nasty when i finally taste the food it didn't taste like hamburger so it didn't even bother with the rest some people should not be cooking or open and this is the place they will never get another dollar from me ever again this is not soulfood if it is you have no soul????

You don't your get you money worth. My husband order a meal , and had to take it back because is wasn't no food on the plate. For 11.99 you should be able to see what on your plate. Last time doing business with them. I hope your business make it in this area. Better food. False advertisement

And try to learn the art of eating out . Instead of gripping... I bet most of you complainers... know nothing about Tipping... Cut it Out. Stay home and cook, if you think you so much better. They do an excellent job considering that are shorthanded sometimes. Pandemic has affected this relatively new restaurant like so many other relatively new ones like it.(I personally like this better than the one in Janaf)Enjoy the space to sit and relax with your meal after church or get a take-out.You can always tell the frequent customers...they come and go with a smile!??

I have worked here in the past. Cynthia is an ***hole. The food is NOT cooked. The grease sits all day, they use the used grease from the day before. The prices are high. The only good food that they have is the cornbread.

I’m giving 4 stars to the manager/cashier who was very friendly and accommodating and helped me with my order the day before Thanksgiving but 2 stars for the actual food. I usually order a few sides from The District the day before Thanksgiving, but they unknowingly were closed. My parents said they’d eaten here once, and that the food was good. Out of desperation, I went here and picked up a last minute catered order of potato salad and yams that were pretty expensive along with 2 lunches. The lunch was subpar, however the fried catfish was delicious and cooked to order. Now those catered sides were not good, bland, and I refused to eat them and so did my parents so much so that we did not even bring them to Thanksgiving dinner. I ended up making yams and my mom purchased potato salad from Ellen’s. Needless to say. I won’t be returning. Also the inside needs to be updated. Looks very much unwelcoming.

I have a complaint about one of your employees. Your employees called her by the name Minnie( short in height) when I asked for a name to report her to the owner. She was very rude with a attitude and disrespectful towards me when I asked simple questions. She was on her phone texting. There is a lack of communication from Black-owned businesses with major attitudes. I will never visit your restaurant again. Black customers want to support Black Businesses but I am tired of the poor Customer Service. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY TO A SUCCESSFUL BUISNESS!!!! You will not get anymore of my hard earned money. There a hundreds of businesses out there, but I chose to come to you. I don't appreciate how your employee talked me. You have cameras that you can see how your employees are behaving , now you need audio to hear. This is necessary to take a notice of this issue to keep the reputation of your restaurant high. I hope you would solve the matter.

An okay soul food place with a large variety of choices (turkey wings, ox tails, greens, cornbread). In my opinion everything could have used a little more seasoning. Didnt like the dining room atmosphere, kind of shabby chic without the chic, really needs work.

My mother was visiting from MD for her birthday so I took her to the Military Hwy location. While the sides were hot, the meats and even the gravy were cold. I told the cashier and Cynthia that they might want to check their burners. Cynthia unapologetically replied oh that happens that they keep going out. What we tasted of the meats were pretty good so we decided to just take the food home and warm it up. Then the most ratchet thing happened! They charged me $1 a box for us to take our food home to warm.!!!!! After spending $50 the audacity to charge for a carry out box for food that she knew was cold!!! Never again, she gives black businesses a bad reputation.
