My experience with the Portsmouth Va location was great! I planned a college graduation celebration for my daughter and used this location to prepare the food to serve 25-30 guest. I spoke with Lavern over the phone from my home in NC in preparation for a Virginia Beach celebration, she assisted with all my menu selections, gave a fare price and answered all of my questions with a positive attitude. I set a time for pick up today and just as promised it was ready. My family and guest were all pleased with the food and I am grateful for the experience I had with the Portsmouth location. Next time I’m in the area this will definitely be one of my stops.

One of the best places to eat in town for sure. I think they should have warning signs like : CONSUMPTION OF THIS AMAZING FOOD WILL GIVE YOU THE ITIS !!!

Disappointed. I never had oxtails so i wanted to go to an authentic spot to try. The oxtails were decent /good & the cabbage was banging but the Mac & cheese had no seasoning. Ended up throwing away. My bf got the j*** chicken which had no seasoning taste like regular chicken & he ordered 3 sides, they even wrote it on his box but only gave him 2. Definitely wouldn’t go back. Not worth the $45 he paid

Its call Thee soul food now, at least that's where we ate!?...food was excellent, REAL soul food, collards best restaurant ones I've had in forever!! Only down side was customer service, needs work on staff courtesy!!! As well as more inviting ambiance. But hands down excellent meal!!

First time customer. We ordered curry shrimp, oxtail, stewed chicken, rice and peas, yams, a chicken patty, and Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious and tasted just like how my family makes it, good customer service, and I believe we got a lot of food for what we paid. Be prepared to wait in line for at least 15-20 minutes when they’re busy, unless you order directly from their website (recommended).

I really enjoyed the rice and peas, cabbage and stee fish gravy. King fish wasnt fresh and skin was super chewy. Collards were good but too much turkey neck. I really wanted callaloo but they had none. Curry chicken was just ok. It lacked flavor and tenderness. J*** chicken was good but needed more grill flavor and j*** seasoning. Corn bread was good but i wanted fried dumpling and they didn't have them. They have a store along with a dining area and a bar! Naturally i picked up a few things while waiting in the line for 30mins to order. We wanted to sit and eat with a few drinks but there was no bartender. Regardless of the 3 stars, I would try them again when im back in Virginia and want jamaican food.

My husband was just in Newport News location. Oxtail was in the case for $8.99 but they said it was$10.99 and refused to honor price they had on the case....Then they removed the price....who does that!!!!Terrible customer service.
