My food was good the first time it wasn't all that hot but my wings were well done like I like them the second time it was hot but my wings wasn't well done like I like them and my pizza wasn't the new york slices that I asked for. And the delivery took a very long time the first time.

It's Papa John's. It Does the Job.
In the vast ecosystem of Norfolk's pizza options, from local artisan shops to late-night delivery joints, Papa John's sits squarely in the middle of the road. It's not a culinary destination, nor is it a greasy-spoon guilty pleasure. It is, simply, Papa John's. You know exactly what you're going to get, and most of the time, that's a perfectly acceptable, if unexciting, pizza experience, earning it a solid three stars.
The ordering process, whether by app or phone, is a well-oiled machine. The deals are frequent and often compelling, making it an easy choice when you need to feed a family or a group without breaking the bank. You click a few buttons, and like clockwork, a pizza arrives at your door. In terms of sheer convenience and predictability, they've perfected the formula.
The pizza itself is the definition of consistency. The crust has that familiar soft, slightly sweet quality, the sauce is distinctively sweeter than most, and the toppings are distributed with corporate precision. The real star of the show, as always, is the tub of garlic dipping sauce and the lone pepperoncini nestled in the box. Let's be honest—sometimes you're ordering the pizza just for the sauce. It's a reliable, standardized product that tastes the same tonight in Norfolk as it did last year in another city.
However, that unwavering consistency is also its biggest weakness. There's no local character, no special touch. It's a pizza engineered in a boardroom, and it tastes like it. The ingredients are fine, but they lack the fresh, vibrant quality you'd find at a dedicated pizzeria. It satisfies a need for sustenance but rarely sparks any real joy or culinary satisfaction.
Ultimately, Papa John's is the beige sedan of the pizza world. It’s a safe, practical, and utterly predictable choice. It will get you where you need to go, but you'll never be thrilled by the ride. For a quick weeknight dinner when you don't feel like cooking, it's a perfectly adequate three-star solution.

Terrible service, employees who don't clean dishes, corners cut all the time. Just a matter of time before someone gets sick.

I order a chicken pizza and I kid you not this has to be the most sloppiest pizza I ever had. And I’m not eating this. Called to get it remade and re delivered but lady said they were bout to close. I understand we all are tired but if this was your pizza you would not want to eat it so why do a customer like that.

This location is a total mess.
It is undeniably obvious that it is upper managements fault.
I attempted to call this location for oven an hour on a Friday 2/28 with the intention of having a scheduled delivery for the next day,
after trying to reach this location for over an hour, I was hung up on 3 times by their MOD when attempting to place that order...
Either this location is severely understaffed due to poor management, or its gotten to a point where upper management does not care to schedule accordingly.
This type of thing DEFINITELY HAS A DIRECT EFFECT ON EMPLOYEE MORALE.
WHERE YOU AT SHAQ?!?!

Would have had more peace of mind if they wore gloves in that facilitated if the guy with long hair had a hair net on. Others, service and speed was good.

Papa John's was started in Louisville Kentucky where I grew up and every bite is a great memory of growing up there and living in Norfolk now I need that memory every once in a while.

I ordered pizza on November 15. When my pizza arrived to my house. It was damaged. It was slid over and bald up over the top of each other. I called the store on the 15th 16th and 17th and all managers told me that my refund was being processed and that they were sending out an email. I never received the email. My refund was never processed. I had to call corporate to get my money back over $50 worth of food messed up.
