Stopped in for lunch and had the Lynnhaven sandwich. They are usually a little busy but are very effective at getting everyone served in a timely manner. Service was wonderful. The food was fresh and delicious.

The food is very good here. There are a lot of choices and so healthy too! I had a salmon salad on one stop and an Inlet Sandwich. No line really...very spacious seating...and if you like wine, a nice selection of bottles for purchase. A definate try and they gave a few locations. Very popular lunch spot.

A wonderful experience and very surprising. When you first walk in, you think it's a store with all of the items to buy, but it's an awesome place to sit down and have a great meal. The sandwiches are amazing, I was very surprised by the biscuits: small but pack a lot of flavor and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend TASTE.

A Norfolk Icon That Perfects the Art of the Sandwich
TASTE is more than just a restaurant in Norfolk; it's a culinary institution, a beloved local landmark that has set the standard for upscale casual dining for decades. Every visit feels like a special occasion, even if it's just a quick lunch break. For its unwavering commitment to quality, its impeccable flavors, and its uniquely Virginian charm, TASTE is an effortless five-star experience.
The magic starts with the ingredients. From the moment you walk in, the market side of the shop beckons with its curated selection of gourmet cheeses, wines, and local artisanal products. This same commitment to quality is evident in every single menu item. The bread is always fresh and flavorful, the meats are premium, and the house-made dressings and spreads are what truly elevate the experience from a simple meal to something memorable.
Ordering any of their signature sandwiches is a rite of passage. The Northender, with its perfect combination of turkey, bacon, and that legendary house dressing, is a masterpiece of sandwich construction. The Lynnhaven, another crowd favorite, is equally delightful. Each sandwich is perfectly balanced, generously filled, and tastes incredibly fresh. The salads are crisp and creative, and the daily soups are always a comforting and delicious choice.
The atmosphere at the Norfolk locations is consistently bright, clean, and welcoming. It strikes the perfect balance between a bustling cafe and a relaxed market, making it an ideal spot for a business lunch, a weekend brunch, or catching up with a friend. The staff is always polished, professional, and efficient, handling even the busiest lunch rushes with grace.
TASTE is a local treasure that has never once rested on its laurels. It consistently delivers an exceptional product in a wonderful environment. It’s a shining example of a local business that gets everything right, and it remains the undisputed champion of the sandwich in Hampton Roads.

Usually love this place but whoever was in the kitchen today decided to cover my sandwich in old gross basil. Tasted horrible and it only had one slice of tomato… lack of care annoys me.

It has been a while since we visited Taste. Historically have had good service but today even though we clearly stated gluten free due to allergy there was a croton in my wife salad and she got cross contaminated. I took the salad to the staff and they offered to make it again. The second salad had other items not Gluten-free. Very disappointed as they used to have dedicated station for making Gluten-free orders.

They're lucky that people come there to buy their products. They certainly don't come there for customer service. The girl at the register barely acknowledged my presence. She rang up my order and promptly left the counter. I had my own bag; therefore, I was left to bag my own items; extremely rude.
