WE ORDERED A SAMPLER PLATTER FOR THE BOTH OF US AND GOOD THING WE DID BECAUSE IT WAS SO NASTY. THE FOOD HAS NO SEASONING IT WAS ALL UNDERCOOKED AND BLAND SOME OF IT WAS COLD THE BRISKET WAS REAL TOUGH AND OMG SOOOO DRY. THE RIBS WERE TOUGH UNDERCOOKED AND DRY. THE ONLY GOOD THING WE HAD WAS THE HUSH PUPPIES THAT CAME WITH THE FOOD . OUR SIDE WAS BAKED BEANS HOW CAN YOU MESS UP THE BEANS THEY WERE SO DISGUSTING. EVEN THE DRINKS WERE NASTY AND LETS TALK ABOUT THE PARKING IT WASNT NONE LOL YOU HAVE TO PARK A BLOCK AWAY . FIRST AND VERY LAST TIME GOING HERE. YHE HEALTH DEPARTMENT NEEDS TO VISIT THIS PLACE CIZ WHAT FOOD WE SIS TASTE IT MADE OUR STOMACHS HURT AND FELT THE NEED TO VOMIT AFTER WE LEFT .

The Fishin’ Pig is the perfect blend of Southern BBQ and fresh seafood, and they nail both. The pulled pork and brisket are smoky, tender, and full of flavor, while the fried catfish and shrimp taste fresh and cooked just right. It’s rare to find a place that does both BBQ and seafood this well.
The portions are generous, the sides are classic comfort food favorites (the mac and cheese and hushpuppies are must-tries), and everything comes out hot and fresh. The staff is friendly, attentive, and keeps the vibe laid-back and welcoming.
Whether you’re in the mood for slow-smoked BBQ, fried seafood, or a little bit of both, The Fishin’ Pig delivers every time. A true Southern gem worth the visit.

Mac and cheese was good as well as the beans and cornbread. Fried catfish needed more seasoning. I'll be back

Absolutely amazing food. Located in a district of town that is off the beaten path, this unassuming restaurant exterior welcomes you to a trendy, exciting restaurant with good BBQ style food. All the dishes we tried were excellent, with generous portions. The shrimp po’boy had large, perfectly cooked shrimp and was very filling. A must visit for food lovers.

The food wasn't seasoned but the brisket was very tender
Did not dine in but atmosphere and staff were pleasant. I have had the Pork bbq twice and both times it was greasy and tasted like fish.

Top tier BBQ not a fan of the fried pickles or tomatoes cause of the breading but everything else very flavorful. Specially the pork and Mac and cheese which they ran out so I couldn't have any today.

Whoever was performing on the evening of 8/21/25 SUCKED. There was so much else wrong but because of the live music alone I will not come back. My husband and I ate here when they first opened and it was amazing, best bbq place we ever went to. We were very excited to be back (we used to spend a lot of time in Norfolk now not so much). It was very busy so we had high hopes. Our waitress Jules was nice enough but very very slow, two tables that were sat after us got their food before us and she would make multiple stops before coming back to us after a simple request, things like just asking what the available desserts were. The cocktails were nice but the food was not as amazing as we remembered, the ribs were yummy but the mac and cheese was not appetizing at all and there was not a very good selection of bbq sauces on the table. Again, could probably overlook the other things if the singer wasn’t so awful and so so loud, I could not get out of there fast enough. It would have been nice to have seen a manager at all in the very long time we were there, who knows where they were.

Emma was an amazing server. Very knowledgeable about the menu, courteous and attentive. The food was great. I ordered a crab cake sandwich and fried green tomatoes.

I have ordered approximately $95.00 worth of food, yet the quality of the food has been disappointing. The taste of the food is reminiscent of it being cooked in old grease, and the collard greens are gritty, suggesting they were cooked in sand. This establishment has certainly made me consider contacting the health department. It is unacceptable to serve old mac n cheese or food that has been fried in old oil. I will not be supporting this business in the future. If you know better, you should do better.

A great place for large groups, obviously since we had 50 people or so there for dinner. And I have to commend the staff as they delivered great customer service and happy attitudes! I ordered the shrimp po boy and this thing was no boy at all. It was the size of an ogre! There was probably 12 pieces of fried shrimp laying on probably a foot long piece of bread. But it’s hard to call this a sandwich because it was all fork and knife to get this in my mouth. Super delicious and great flavor all around. I loved the crispy batter and sauce drizzled over. I would definitely share this next time.
