As a long-standing patron of Pit and The Peel, I’ve encountered various issues over time but have consistently returned to their locations. However, my recent experience has led me to decide never to patronize them again. After placing a delivery order, I was surprised by a significant delivery fee. Nearly 45 minutes later, the delivery service informed me that my order was canceled by Pit and The Peel, yet I received no communication from the restaurant itself, and the charge was still processed. When I visited the restaurant to resolve the issue, an employee, evidently lacking the authority to assist, informed me that my order had been canceled the previous night by the manager, and advised me to contact the manager via email. Attempts to have the situation rectified on the spot were met with refusal, and I was even told that the employee was not permitted to contact the manager on my behalf. This level of customer service is unacceptable to me, especially as a business owner who understands the importance of customer satisfaction. The lack of competition in the area seems to have fostered a disregard for customer service standards at this establishment. It’s disappointing, and I find myself hoping for the opening of an alternative venue that offers organic, ready-to-eat options like açaí bowls. The current lack of options has clearly led to a complacency that I can no longer support.

The açaí was nothing like expected...it has no flavor whatsoever. I do not recommend.

The vegan nachos were delicious. I enjoyed the quality of the chips, beans, and corn. The nachos weren’t too salty or drenched. But I was under the impression the nachos would be topped with red onions as well. The nacho cheese sauce and pico de gallo was tasty. A dazzle of red onion and shredded lettuce would of made these nachos perfecto! But I enjoyed every bite and will try other menu items soon.

The Banh Mi sandwich was expertly crafted, with the textures and flavors perfectly balanced and complementary. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The Acia bowls were a delightful dessert option, perfect for satisfying a sweet tooth on a daily basis. Overall, the combination of excellent food and excellent service means I'll definitely be returning to this establishment frequently in the future.

Vegetarian options: The menu is designed mostly for vegetarian with some protein options

Dietary restrictions: Very aware and accommodating for food allergies and offers many vegan meals.

Very poor advertising and subsequent communication for an event. I attended the "cooking class" on 12/7 at the Main St. Richmond location. The advertisements all stated a price of $50, but EventBrite charged $75/ticket before fees (the only way to pay). The hosted chef was informative and the food was good, but it was not "hands on", which is how the class was advertised (including on the hand out printed and given to us when we entered). We ate the appetizers made by the chef as she talked about how to make them, but there was no opportunity to actually cook anything. No one on the phone was able to tell me anything about the class past the 3 sentence description on their various advertisements (all with slightly different information), so there was no way to know before purchasing what to expect. I emailed the day after the event, and again a week later, and have not received a response. I would never have written a poor review if I had received a response with an attempt at resolution, but I was very disappointed in the communication and execution.

Hello. I usually don’t leave reviews but I have to this time. This guy, not sure of his name, (possibly the manager) was very good to me. I watched as he took my order, a smoothie, a couple coffees for other guests, passing out food, and checking on customers. Literally all over the place, but not in a bad way. Great service. Nice smile, and very quick with everything. Highly recommend this establishment.

The breakfast sandwich and the customer service was great. A very convenient spot for breakfast and lunch if you are in downtown Norfolk.
