First off, the atmosphere is just right. They’ve nailed that sweet spot where it feels intimate and special, but also totally relaxed and friendly. The service is genuinely welcoming (and efficient!), and the food… well, let's just say you'll be back.

Fantastic date night out, post Valentines Day. Service was exceptional, food incredible, atmosphere and vibe very intimate and romantic. Started at Happy Hour with some drinks and an appetizer and then tried the charcuterie board and spiced tuna for dinner. Overall one of the best dinner experiences we’ve had in recent memory. 10/10 would highly recommend!

My husband and I enjoyed a nice pre-Valentine's Day dinner. The restaurant is very cozy so having a reservation is encouraged. The flounder was crispy, delicious, and perfectly matched with the polenta. The collards were a little vinegary but fine. Finishing with the carrot cake was fun and interesting with the addition of blueberries to the cake. We look forward to visiting again soon.

My wife and I dined here for our anniversary and had a terrific experience. Brian provided excellent service, the cocktails were great and the food was delicious. The mocktail that my wife ordered was too bitter for her taste but that’s really the only criticism that either of us had. I highly recommend this place and we will certainly be returning.

Started out a great night but when we got what was considered an entree we were let down. Wife received what looked and tasted like ramen noodles with 3 pieces of lump crab, and I received overcooked mussels to the point there was no meat in them. Then for my wife’s birthday dessert we received a dry brownie with frost bitten ice cream. Drinks were amazing, our waitress was amazing, the food not worth the price they are asking. All I can say is don’t come here if you are hungry.

I have been visiting The Restaurant at Four Eleven York since I moved to Norfolk in 2020. Over the years, I have celebrated countless special moments here: birthdays, Mother’s and Father’s Days, my surprise engagement, and most recently, my wedding.

Having attended college in NYC and traveled to over 20 countries during my time in the Merchant Marine, I can confidently say that the food, drinks, service, and hospitality at Four Eleven are top tier. I have never left disappointed. Their brunch is incredible, offering a variety of dishes that cater to every palate, and it even concludes with a delightful homemade doughnut—a perfect sweet treat to finish the meal. Each dinner dish is visually stunning and engages the senses with beautiful plating. I’ve enjoyed everything from seafood pasta and jerk red snapper (my absolute favorite) to exquisite steak and chicken dishes, all with no complaints. The appetizer menu is a delightful surprise on every visit, featuring unique offerings like soft shell crab sandwiches, shrimp and oyster po’boys, and fried octopus.

Drinks are always a highlight, too. Whether you’re in the mood for something soft and sweet, a cocktail to put some hair on your chest, or a selection of wines and beers, Four Eleven has an extensive list that will satisfy any craving.

In 2023, I reached out to the owner to inquire about proposing to my girlfriend. To my surprise, they were incredibly accommodating, even on the Sunday before Labor Day, arranging everything for our immediate family, our photographer, and the two of us.

Most recently, on October 5th, 2024, I celebrated my wedding at The Restaurant at Four Eleven York and at The York Inn, the charming bed and breakfast next door, also owned by the same proprietor. It was an intimate and dreamy occasion for our 39 guests, with absolutely no complaints. The owner took on the role of wedding coordinator, ensuring everything ran smoothly and efficiently. The staff was empathetic, pleasant, and proactive, making our day even more special. We personalized the food and drinks, offering guests signature cocktails and three options each for the first and main courses.

Reflecting on all these cherished memories, I am grateful to Four Eleven for being a constant in our lives. This restaurant has not only provided incredible meals but also hosted some of our most significant milestones. I look forward to many more visits and celebrations in the years to come, as we continue to create lasting memories in this wonderful place.

I don't usually do reviews. I have only done a couple ever. But this establishment deserves every last recognition. I give every single person involved with 411 York all the praise from the owners to the managers to the staff. They really know how to run a smooth running high satisfaction restaurant. I am so impressed with this place I want this place to run forever. Really great job guys and here's to forever more yrs in the business!

For my birthday, my wife and I wanted to try a new place. We live in DC and were told to check this place out.

We sat at the bar and were greeted by an affable bartender who took our drink order. My wife’s wine was good as was my cocktail.

They had 2 selections of oysters, Blue Point (briny) and another local option (less briny, smooth) but were out of the local oyster so we got 6 of the Blue Points, which were good.

We asked about another appetizer and the bartender suggested the octopus with plantains. We were told that the octopus was sous vide’d and then grilled and delicious.

We received the octopus which was 3 plantains and a single, small octopus tentacle — for $28. I asked the bartender if this was the correct portion size and was told, “there’s a lot of preparation that goes into it” and “octopus is expensive lately.”

Not exactly the best explanation, but then when trying the sous vide’d and then grilled tentacle, we found a dry, overcooked octopus.

We decided that the entree was not worth trying given our experience, so we left. The bartender comp’d the octopus, which was appreciated.

Would not recommend and will not be back.

Thoughtful. The food and ambiance were amazing, but what set the experience apart was the thoughtfulness of the staff and Sam our wait staff in particular. I can say the food was cerebral in a way that brought a smile to our faces. Get the octopus. Seriously. It's that good. The crudo was well balanced and the texture of the appetizer was delightful. The cheddar biscuits between the courses were tasty and playful. Even the butter seemed to be thoughtfully chilled and served at the appropriate temperature. The onion jam was flavorful but not overwhelming. My wife had the salmon and she said it ranked up there as the best salmon she's had while dining out. I had the halibut and have to say it was my favorite fish entree I've eaten. The green curry was created with a depth hand as it was perfectly balanced against the cumin, macadamia nut, and coconut. I don't typically like farro but this was a great pairing for the other flavors. Before desserts, Sam, our wait staff brought us non-alcoholic bubbly for our anniversary to celebrate. My wife has never drank champagne or any alcohol for that matter so it was a pleasant surprise. My wife got the olive oil cake with blood orange and cardamom. It was well just a delightful end of meal dessert. I got a bonet piemontese. It was butterscotch and chocolate and meringue. I started this with one word. Thoughtful. The food seemed well planned and executed. The service from the host to the bartender and especially our waitress was intentional and we felt very well cared for. This was hands down an experience and well worth the expense. We'll be back for sure!

Dietary restrictions: We don't drink alcohol. The restaurant was quite accommodating, even serving us a non-alcoholic sparkling drink for our anniversary. Typically restaurant wait staff can be a little condescending when they realize you won't be ordering a hundred dollar bottle of wine with your meal. That was not the case here. They had some really exceptional mocktails that we found quite pleasing on the palate without being overly sweet.

Everything about this place is truly top notch! The staff is so incredibly genuine, kind, and caring. The bar tender is incredibly talented and aims to please. The chefs creations, rotating menu, and complimentary surprise offerings in between courses truly make this restaurant a 10/10 experience that rivals any Michelin rated restaurant, without the outrageous prices. We had our wedding and reception here one year ago and went back for our anniversary dinner. Our dinner experience was just as magical and special as our wedding experience (which was absolutely incredible)!

We were celebrating our anniversary and chose this restaurant for the positive reviews for a romantic dinner. I'm so glad we did. The service was great. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the bartender experience, and that was a really fun way to try a new drink. He nailed it!
I have a gluten allergy, but I don't think that limited my menu at all. They had an option for all of the courses and surprise treats throughout the meal. I had the steak and potatoes and the potatoes in duck fat were stand out.
The real surprise winner was the fig dessert at the end. It was one of the best things I've ever eaten! I would definitely reccomend this restaurant for a romantic celebration.

Dietary restrictions: Separate gluten-free and Vegan/vegetarian menu offered.
