Food was very good - enjoyed the restaurant week menu. The Caesar Salad was a little lacking in flavor but otherwise very delicious. Service was great and ambience was excellent.

Beautifully decorated, exquisite service, wonderful drinks and their house wine was delicious. The rigatoni bolognese was amazing, so flavorful, great texture. Unfortunately what I was looking forward to the most, the lobster risotto, was terrible. The lobster was undercooked, when I sent it back they cooked it some more but it came back rubbery, very salty and absolutely unpleasant. The risotto was also flat and overly salted. Server was fantastic the whole time, big props to her!

The only option for food was the special menu for New Years Eve. The restaurant called within the hour of our reservation to notify us of that, I would've loved more notice and the original menu

When making reservations online, we were presented with the option of regular dining menu or the “New Year” menu which was a three course meal. I've been excited to try this restaurant and opted for their normal menu but when seated I was disappointed to find out that they are only serving their New Year's menu. Needless to say, we were not satisfied with this meal. The main course was nearly room temperature which was disappointing. Moreover, 4th floor dessert was very delicious.

We like to stop by Varia when we're in Norfolk to visit family. The ambience is nice for special occasions, and the food is always excellent. Recently, our waiter Reese provided friendly and helpful service. We will be back!

if nothing else, bread is always well done. At Varia, it was tasteless as well as the butter. Its impression was not a good one.We ended up with pizzas. My crust was burned and flavor just ok. My partner thought his was good. Ambiance is lovely

Food was not good. I ordered Bolognese. It literally had no sauce. It was penne pasta with crumbled meat in it. It was only warm. Husband ordered a sausage and pesto dish that was not hot and was dry. Restaurant was very loud. A jazz singer was playing and singing too loudly. We ate with another couple and couldn't hear them speak until the singing stopped. Server did comp my meal. I expected a great dining experience at Varia and was disappointed. Caesar salad was excellent and prices are reasonable.

Food and service was great! Shout out to our server, Sam! Only complaints are about the noise level and seating. We had been placed at a table on the other side of the bar and the bar crowd was really rowdy. I felt like I had to yell across the table to have a conversation. It looked like there were a few big groups celebrating the holiday's, so I'm going to assume it was just one of those nights. Eventually towards the tail end of our meal it did get much quieter. Seating could have been better. It was visually appealing and comfy, but not ideal for when you're trying to eat. It just felt kind of awkward because you had to hunch over the table while kind of being swallowed into this big curvy chair. All that being said, the things that mattered most were great, especially the pasta, but the little things kind of took away from the experience. I definitely will be going again, but maybe not for a quiet romantic dinner.
