The Wyndham Garden Downtown Norfolk was a delight. The staff went out of the way to ensure that we were comfortable and had our needs met. Jonathan is a jewel that I am sure other chains have tried to stead away!

I did not like I had to pay parking fee and I had room there it was ok . I did not like had to go to another floor for ice. the customer service was good . The restaurant wasn’t open for happy hour or eat in.

Would not recommend. Everything from the moment I arrived was a mess. This place was probably nice in the 1980’s but no longer. Pool was abandoned. Locks/keys didn’t work. Needed a total redo. Couldn’t believe it had the Wyndham name. Deceptive. Also it is being used as a college dorm.

If I could rate ZERO stars, that would be awesome. I had reservation to attend training for my job. I could not stay there for 24 hours. I left at 250AM due to the following: 1st room- mattress smelled like urine, sofa was stained and filthy, floors sticky. I was changed to another room- smelled terrible, bathroom nasty, black mold ring inside of the toilet, ROACHES everywhere( I have pictures and videos), carpet smell, and last but not least.. Let's say something bit me, I went to the doctor as soon as I came home and currently on meds. PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE.

OK, first the not so good - Why are Norfolk Police stationed in the hotel lobby!! I know Norfolk is a tough town but this was a shocker. Saw quite a few questionable folks hanging around but no one bothered us. Water pressure in sink was bad, OK in shower. Now for the kinda OK - Room was on the 9th floor - Nice view. Room was spacious, clean and no creepy crawlers (that I saw). Handicap parking was on the entry loop - Very nice. Did not eat there so no comment on the food. Price was nice. Just might want to get a CC permit - Kinda joking.... Location is convenient to a lot of Norfolk stuff.

The overall feel and smell is musky, as you walk around you noticed the floors are extremely dirty. As you walk to your room the floors feel sticky and dirty. Our room was very dirty specially the floors. We weren't able to walk barefoot. The bathroom was really dirty. We found a live roach inside the fridge and another one crawling near the desk area. We also found a dead one in the elevator. The bed sheets were dirty. We called front desk many times and they never picked up the phone. The room looks more like a cheap motel room and the bed rolls to the side when you try to lay on it.I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Also for 110 per night you expect a little better.Rooms: Overall very dirty with a motel feel to it. Bathroom was dirty, not well lit. Outdated equipment and the floors are disgusting. We also found 2 roaches in the room, one inside the fridge and the other one crawling by the desk

Clean with roaches. Had a do not disturb sign on the door no one knocked and 2 guys walked in on me while I wasn’t dressed. The manager Gregory (not so friendly) offered 1/2 of payment back on one nights stay as he stated it was a miscommunication on there end on what rooms were occupied/not occupied. He didn’t even apologize or showed any type of empathy. Book elsewhere I did report this to corporate.

This is my final week traveling for work to the Norfolk area and I have requested this hotel for the past 4 weeks. *Great location *CLEAN!!!! *Really Safe *GREAT STAFF!!!-Everyone was friendly. Brooke has been AMAZING this whole month with getting me checked in and making sure I was that I was comfortable and had access to the things I need...she even remembered my name the second time I checked in and our previous conversation conversation. *Good food-I didn't feel like going out to grab dinner a couple of nights so I ate at the their on site restaurant and the food was really good and the prices weren't bad either. They also run food specials through out the week.

Don't be fooled by the lobby. The rooms are small and perpetually damp, giving them a weird smell. As a result, I couldn't open the door to my closet or close the door to my bathroom due to the damp wood of the doors and frames. No coffee or water offered in the lobby, not amenities to speak of.

This hotel is terrible! I will never stay here again. I stayed here to move my daughter into college which was a short distance from the hotel. There was 5 of us so I booked the double bed suite which also had a sofa. Plenty of space for my party of 5. We drove in from Boston and arrived around 12 am. At check in Rashad at the front desk stated that my room was no longer available. I asked why? I booked my room weeks in advance. He told me I had 2 options, 1, take the room that they have available or 2, They will refund me with no penalty and I can find another hotel. I asked will the suite be available the next day? He said no. Once again we just drove from Boston. Me my daughter my elderly mother, we were all exhausted. Then he told me that the college was using the hotel rooms for dorms. Which I still do not understand why they would give my paid for room away without even contacting me. Then you have Chelsea. Chelsea is the bar tender/waitress at the Black Tuna restaurant in the hotel. She is the most ignorant person I ever met in life. I had to call the corporate office because when I asked for a supervisor or manager they said she doesn’t have one. This lady threw our menus at us. Then walked over and said “y’all ready to order?” This was the first day at the restaurant. The second day I went down for happy hour and the pool which was to go t outside of the restaurant. I asked can I place a order and bring it out to the pool? She said yes. I had my daughter go inside to get the food. Chelsea yelled at my daughter saying “Don’t come in here from the pool”. Then locked the door after my daughter placed another order.once I walked all the way around to re enter the restaurant I went straight to the front desk and got the supervisor explained everything. Also had other patrons to back me up. She is a disgusting individual and she should be fired. Everyone that came in asked was she having a bad day. I hope all of my complaints make a change. The hotel needs needs new staff especially for guest services. They have a elderly lady who can barely stand up straight. There’s never clean linen. Big coaches through the halls. Front desk so unprofessional. The fact that they gave my room away and did not reach out and they can see my ID that clearly says I’m from Boston is insane. Only nice thing was the pool. I wouldn’t recommend this place to no one!!! Not to mention the nasty bath tub with hair all inside of it?

We stayed here for one night to break up a long trip. Our experience at Wyndham garden Norfolk downtown was terrible. We pulled up to the property and it was not in a great neighborhood, and the entrance was at a different level than the parking which made us nervous about our property. We arrived to the room and the floors were extremely dirty (one wipe turned a washcloth black!). I then moved the couch out to get my sons ball that rolled under it just to have a random pill roll out from under the couch! Thank god I got to it before my one year old son! My husband took a shower in the morning only to find that out of the 6 towels in the bathroom only one of them were usable, the rest were either dirty or had hair stuck in the fibers! And to top it off the remote control only worked if you were directly in front of the tv. It was an absolutely horrible experience. Thank goodness we were only there one night!

Spent one evening here found the reviews very misleading. Newly remodeled last year, room was clean, bed and linens very comfortable.Maya and Manager were very gracious and accommodating to our needs.

We booked this to be close to the parking for our cruise. We also booked it because of the pool. We drove down from NJ and arrived around 5 and as we sat to get dinner before heading to the pool we were informed it closed at 7! There is no coffee made for the guests. Ask for extra pillows because they are very squishy. Very disappointing stay.

This is the worst Wyndham I have ever stayed at. The front desk clerk Mya is very rude and the manager Jonathan was just as bad. They gave away our suite then never told us took our money we didn’t see it until we paid and went to our room to see this was not what we reserved. They had little to no compassion. I asked to speak to general manager Jonathan said they don’t want to speak to me they won’t take my call. He stated I was rude to front desk clerk which I was after she was rude to me several times. I asked him to pull the calls to see and he stated he didn’t have to. This place is just awful. My hood deposit still pending there carpet is dirty and just not worth the money don’t stay here. I usually have good experiences with Wyndham but not this location. If I could give zero stars I would this does not go for all wyndhams just this locationRooms: Don’t stay at this location

Where do I begin?First off, the pool closes at 7 PM. On a Saturday. In July. What?! The pool is most of the reason we booked this hotel, knowing we would arrive in town around dinner, grab something at the bar or order pizza, then lounge in the pool, but that's not how it played out. We arrived around 6 PM, ordered drinks and dinner at the bar, and during casual conversation with the bartender, she informed us the pool closed at 7 (to which she was just as shocked and confused as we were).Next, We were charged $15 per vehicle to park. There were no events going on at the Scope, plenty of parking available, it wasn't at a premium, and wasn't even a secured lot. I know it says "fees may apply", but seriously? This is a 12 story building, and there's only one elevator (out of 4) that works. One.Breakfast still isn't offered, and I could look past that if it wasn't for two things; One, the overpriced "market" next to the check in desk, that was barely stocked. And two, there's also no coffee. There's no basic, house blend, made 4 gallons at a time coffee. I'll add sugar and creamer to make it palatable.Lastly, on checkout Sunday morning, when I went to the desk to turn in the keys and settle, and MAYBE speak to somebody about my experience, the girl slid a box in front of me, said "just leave your keys", and WALKED AWAY! It's like she knew there were going to be unhappy people wanting to talk to her or a manager.I'll mention the few good things; check in was quick and easy, and the bartender at the restaurant was super friendly and quick. It was close to cruise parking. And it's close to the 7-11, because THEY have coffee. That's about it.Any preconceived notion I had about Wyndham properties (and I grew up outside of Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg, TN) is gone now.
