My mom is a cook, so I know good food. OMGoodness. Yendidi is the best, when I travel here for ministry i just have to stop. That's my tradition. I buy and even take back to Ohio, it's that serious. Just only last summer the guy there wasn't picking the phone and I had to do a lot of driving back and forth the whole 4days I was there. I used to eat Ghanaian food in Nigeria it wasn't this good, i'm not even exaggerating. Thank you for serving a great food!!! Keep it up. I will be back in few weeks. This food is already in my head. 😆

Went here on a Saturday night because I was craving something filling and flavorful; the place thing that came to mind was Yendidi. I tried them before a long time ago and haven’t had them recently, so I was really anticipating having them again. The ordering process was quick and easy, we used their computer screens to put our orders in. Not too bad of a wait for our food. The staff were very communicative on our food status while we were waiting, which I appreciated.
My order included an Afro pie (7.5/10), I absolutely loved the sauce it came with, but I do feel like the meat inside and pie itself was dry. Sautéed green beans (10/10). Chicken Egusi soup w/ pounded yam (9/10), the flavors were amazing! I loved how savory it was; however, I do believe they switched the spice level of my soup with my sisters because I asked for none-little spice, yet my soup tasted like it was their highest spice level !! I had to keep taking breaks while eating because while it did taste really good, it was also so so spicy!
I really did enjoy my meal, despite receiving the wrong spice level in my Egusi soup. I will def return again soon.
My overall rate of experience : 8.6/10

I absolutely love this place. I will drive all the way here just for their food instead of places closer to me.
I ordered the okra soup with cow foot, medium spicy with fufu. It came with another veggie side so I chose their version of collard greens that were seasoned with old bay. I also ordered another side of plantain fufu and a Bissap (hibiscus) drink.
The soup was so good! The only issue is that the spicy was dried pepper seasoning clumped in the middle. So, some of my bites were spicy and others had no spice.
I ordered it to go for ease, but ate some of it there before meeting friends for ladies night. I’m never disappointed with the food here.
Something I noticed was that they had these plantains that I had before from Ghana, so I was excited to find them here locally.
The young lady behind the counter/one of the cooks actually surprised me because she was Jamaican and spoke patois. We laughed because I’m like “Ariana, what are you doing here?” (Nicki voice) lol. She was mostly talking on the phone and didn’t say much to me but no issues there.
The Norfolk restaurant is small inside with maybe 3 tables total. The other side of the restaurant is a small grocery store.
Parking is limited and awkward, especially if you have to make the u-turn coming from the opposite direction.

Yendidi has good food...but this location is good for takeaways only, if you want to dine go to the other one which is 15 minutes away from this location

After spending an hour waiting seeing multiple people go in and out me and another customer were finally told they had ran out of the snapper ! Than instead of offering a refund we are told to choose another protein and still he couldn’t give an accurate time of when food would be ready !! The whole time there I never smelled anything being cooked nor heard any kitchen activity besides a microwave constantly being opened and closed !! I ended up leaving without my food due to other olibgations and realizing nothing was fresh! I will be disputing the charges with my bank ! Very unprofessional!!

I’m tired of coming up here and it takes 40-45 mins for my food to be made even after I call my order in. It’s so frustrating!!!! 0/10 I would recommend the Virginia Beach location , This location does not care about their time or service ! The food sometimes come out old and 9/10 it’s not even gonna be what you ordered !

I ordered via uber eats delivery, so I didn’t have the sit down experience. But the FOOD WAS SO DELICIOUS! I ordered the vegetarian option of egusi soup with plantain fufu and jollof rice. 10/10. The flavors were out of this world. I never knew egusi soup was that delicious. I would order again and again and again!

Placed an order through their website at 12:51pm and My pickup time was originally 1:21pm and due to my previous pickup experience being terrible, I arrived a few minutes after to give them more time at 1:36pm. I was told my order was not ready and to wait 15-20 minutes. I came back in after 20 minutes and I was told my order still was not ready and to wait another 10 minutes. I final got my order at 2:20pm and the person working the counter declined to give even a partial refund for the ridiculous customer service and extremely long wait time but he did offer me a free drink. I do not recommended this location especially if you do not have time to wait around for over an hour.

I have came here twice. The first time I ordered way in advance as the ordering process tells you to do so. It was a VERY long wait. We were assured it was a short staffing issue. I order again quite some time after in hopes it would have been resolved. I ordered even more in advance . My order was place at 12:55 pm. I arrive at about 1:30 pm. I walk in and was told they could not find it, then magically he does and asks for 20 minutes. I walk in again and he asks for 10 more. After 10 minutes I walk in and it’s still not ready. In fact I am currently still waiting for my order as I write this review and current time is 2:24pm. At this point I just want my money back and they are telling me they can’t do that but I can get a free drink … never coming back and I would recommend that if you don’t have all day , you don’t either.

I’m so disappointed in my food… again. My issue is the inconsistency with ordering. I ordered the spinach stew with jollof rice and pounded yam along with samosas. The jollof rice only tastes like tomato. The last time I had it, it had a little kick and depth in flavor. This time wasn’t so. Same with my spinach stew, I got less spicy because last time I got egusi with spice, it was extremely spicy with no real flavor… and it’s mackerel. And it had a Scorched taste to it like it was burned and transferred. I drove 39 minutes because I’m pregnant and wanted jollof rice but everything I had fell flat. The samosas were even different this time. Fried in a tortilla of some sort when before it was a dough. With the prices if the food, I won’t be back.
