I walked in and stood at the counter for 5 minutes and didn't see anyone. I might try again.

Yock Nook has been the place where Chinese restaurants in the Hampton Roads area and home chefs have bought cases and cases of dry yock. However, the real gem is the noodle shop that offers hot made-to-order items, all prepared lovingly by Chef Greg. Let me tell you - he is all serious when it comes to providing authentic Dongbei-style Chinese dishes! We wanted to try some of the food after already having lunch, so we stuck with: the Hot & Spicy Broad Noodles (wide noodles, perfectly cooked, topped with a chili oil mixture; very spicy!); and, the Bunny's Samplers (little steamed dumpling pouches filled with beef, chicken, and pork). Both items were tasty and addicting. I love the fact that the chili oil/soy sauce is already placed on top of the dumplings so you don't have to do it yourself! There's also a small grocery section, but Chef Greg is more than willing to help you out in locating certain items or if you have any questions. One customer, for some crazy reason, decided to open a pack of noodles... like, why would you do that? Currently, the small dining area is closed, as most seem to order ahead and take it to-go. With the current pandemic, it's best if you call to see if they're operating. There's plenty of street parking. +tasty noodle dishes +tasty dumplings +limited seating inside +call ahead to confirm hours +plenty of street parking

I love my beef noodles and bunny shao-mai. The noodles are always cooked to perfection and they are so kind to give me some house made spicy chili oil to try. The chili oil is aromatic and goes amazing with the noodles. It's the best chinese food you could ask for here!

I texted Greg Shia Monday to ask for a special order of Spicy Beef Broad Noodles (not on the daily menu) & Beef Dumplings for Wednesday. Greg confirmed and I picked up my order on time. Best noodles in the area. A riot of flavor and huge servings, enough for a couple of meals. Yock Nook never disappoints.

Nice home cook meal, authentic chinese noodles without fanfare, limited menu items but worth stopping by.

Ever since I read a review from the Virginian-Pilot I had desire to visit this place. It's off the beat path: just outside Norfolk Industrial Park. It is actually a noodle factory with a kitchen and a small dining area. Many many years ago the Norfolk Noodle Factory in Reservoir Ave was the go to place for Chinese food products and noodles. This place is spartan; not much in decor but like an open air kitchen you can see your dish being made. Greg, the owner, chef, cashier runs the joint. His daily menu is limited and changes daily so it's best to call, his specialty is the spicy beef soup and broad noodle beef or chicken. Greg can adjust the spiciness to you liking. Very tasty, not too saucy and at the same time the sauce clings to the noodles. Bring cash; no other way to pay for your. He also has "bunnies" which are similar to dumplings. The bunnies take longer to cook as they come frozen and have to be steamed. Recommended for the food, and watching Greg prepare your meal. Worth the journey to Yock Noodle.

This is our 3rd time here since we found this little gem of deliciousness. Today we had the Beef noodle soup, bean paste gravy noodles and the beef bunnies... once again everything was wonderful

Simply delicious. The absolute definition of not Judging a book by its cover. Went with my wife one afternoon, and we both looked at each other and smiled when we pulled up outside of the building. When we walked in, we were both looked at each other and agreed that had we not visited SE Asia and eaten at various delicious hole in the walls, we would not feel comfortable. This is a one man operation and you can tell he cares about his food. His first question to us was "are you eating here or take out?" Once we said take out, he advised against ordering the Won Ton soup because "it's different than what you're used to, and if you don't eat it right away, it will not be good." So we got the Beef Noodles and O MY GOD. Simply delicious and left me wanting more. I can't wait to try move food here! Do Note: His menu changes based on what he has on hand, so be flexible!!!

Fantastic food! One man show! Allow some time for my man to cook and you will not be disappointed!

This is the best Chinese food My wife and I have ever had. We are now weekly visitors. The menu is limited to a couple dishes each week, but We are willing to try anything the charming and talented chef/owner creates (ordinarily I would never be this adventurous). Request your preferred level of spiciness. Bring your own beverages. This is our favorite place in a region known for outstanding dining out options.

WOW! Amazing Food! Greg the owner is Fantastic to chat with and makes the Best Noodle dishes I have had. My neighbor & I went late around 5:20pm. I had called and they said they were open. This place is a noodle factory that supplies local chineese restaraunts. They make "YOCK" noodles and more. We had the Numbing Noodles with Chicken. Hers was mild & mine Hot. Cash only. Thanked Greg for our food and came home to eat. There is a small place to eat in but I wanted to get home. I could not get over how good my meal was. My nose started to run. Susan said my face was red. She ate half of hers so I packed mine up. I went home and started to put it away but had to finish my noodles as they are so addicting. If you love good food, noodles, spice and good people you have to try Yock Nook! Great Food and Great People!

One of the most unique culinary experiences I've had in the Hampton Roads area. This is a CASH ONLY one man kitchen offering one or two dishes from a rotating menu. I've had the Hot and Spicy noodles with Beef Bunnies and the Braised Pork Noodles. Both were absolutely delicious, the noodles are a joy to eat. Also if you enjoy the food, slurp your noodles. Respect the chef and show your appreciation with some good slurping action.

Only four for right now as I went on an off day and he didn't have many of the items. Luckily I was able to talk w the owner and understand this is really a passion project for him. He cooks everything up as you order. No pre/partially cooked Chinese you reheat. That means it takes time and he doesn't cook certain items in the summer due to the heat. That said, if you're adventurous I think you really like it and I definitely want to go back to try the other items. The Pork bunnies were really great as were the noodles. Saw he closed till September 23.
