After stopping here many times I finally found them open and not full.. it’s a cold winter day so was looking forward to warming up and taking a break in a 9 hr solo trip. Wow.. what a disappointment.. I was offered a table upstairs by the very lovely hostess — being the ONLY person there I joked I would be forgotten. No joke in the end. I was brought an overly sweet tea - but could not get it changed since no one ever came back. A second person brought the food and just plopped it on the table .. no asking me if I needed anything etc. didn’t get to the tea… thought my server would appear. I ordered crab cake sandwich .. I got a crab cake ball sitting on a cold hard bun with a bag of chips. No other additions for the sandwich.. zip zero on the plastic basket plate. Oh yes, there was about 1 TBS of “slaw” in a little plastic cup with a lid. Made ahead I guess. Homemade ? Not sure. Did not taste like it. No one asked if I wanted tarter or cocktail — I had to ask when it was plopped down. The tarter tasted like industrial mayo from a jar. Terrible. Wanted a drink to go but no server. I had to wait for someone to come to the front to even get a check … once again it was the very nice hostess. I told her no one ever came to check on me. She was so sorry. After several years looking forward to trying this restaurant I was sadly disappointed I spent $24 for what I received. Crab cake was decent but it needed to be presented as the star of the house … dressed up a little… maybe homemade tarter .. maybe nice lettuce.. Maybe a fresh brioche bun. It felt more like an afterthought and I felt my patronage was not appreciated nor needed.

We’ve been going to Mallards for 20 years ever since my late father-in-law Jim introduced us and it has consistently been our favorite restaurant on the Eastern Shore. Every visit is a delight and the food is always amazing. Truly, Mallards ranks as one of the best restaurants we’ve ever been anywhere. We appreciate the reasonable prices as well. Thanks for the amazing experience again today.

So so good we ate multiple days in a row! The server we had was so kind and made our dinner enjoyable. If back in the area, I absolutely will be back. Everything was so good including the drinks!

Outstanding lunch. The Rockfish was excellent. Perfectly cooked. The Tomatoe Bisque was phenomenal. Kenzie our server was great. Highly recommend coming here.
A very quaint place that was established in the 1800's. Staff was extremely friendly and the executive chef watched and carried almost every plate to the table ensuring it was correctly prepared! There were two entrees that I was interested in but each had one spice or part that I didn't like. The chef said no problem I will take what you like from the two different ones and make it special to your liking. OMG was it good!! Rockfish special with the salmon preparation. Just an awesome experience. The chef, I belive owner, was on the floor the entire time talking with guests and checking on things. EXTREMELY well ran. The unexpected surprise was the bill that was SO much less than expected for a meal like that. Can't say enough good about the place. A definite stop by and try if you ever have the opportunity! Was our first time but certainly not our last!

What a great little gem we stumbled upon on our way back to Norfolk from Ocean City, MD! Such a great history to this place and everyone was great!! We chatted with both Johnny and Lynn who were so gracious and friendly. The food was FANTASTIC and they even serve SMITH ISLAND CAKE (a long-time family fave of ours)!!! We will most certainly return for an overnighter to the area, and when we do, we’ll come back for another great evening at Mallards! 😊🤩
We arrived by boat and had a wonderful meal. As good as the food was, the service by Lynn was even better. She brought water and treats for our dogs, held our bill open while we tidied the boat and then came back for dinner.
Definitely looking forward to our next visit.

Overcharged my card to point i had to pay overdraft. They couldn't figure out how to take care of the refund while i was there. Im from out of town. They said they'd mail me the overage, not the overdraft also. Great food. Service was terrible, management didnt seem to care, no call from anyone the day after. Won't be back. Such a shame though. Food was excellent.

We were on a road trip and traveled all day from NH to the Delmarva Peninsula on our way to our final destination of NC. We found this restaurant online and based on its reviews thought we'd give it a try. Our waitress, Lynn helped us with the menu, gave her suggestions and they did not disappoint. We had the mussels in jalapeno, garlic broth which were the best mussels we've ever had. We also had the crab cake dinner which was really good too. Lynn was so friendly, told us about her home and through conversation we had a slight connection to St. Louis, through her church and our hometown. It was a pleasure getting to know her and dinner was great too. Great atmosphere, loved the views too.
Great food, wonderful atmosphere, and excellent service! Came here for a business lunch and I had an great experience. I sat inside but the wharf view was gorgeous. Highly recommend.
