We ordered fried green tomatoes and the tomatoes were frozen. The pork chop was small with unflavored rice and 3 small stalks of asparagus. We had breakfast the next day. Expected to be able to order off the menu and they had a Buffett with food that was embarrassingly awful. Not sure if it is because it is off season - but it was bad
We eat here quite regularly and it is always good. The whole atmosphere is just very pleasant. The food is great and the staff is so nice and inviting. Definitely a must go to place!!
With lunch reservations at 12:30 our meal was disappointing as it was to be a birthday celebration with friends (4 total). We ordered the Chesapeake Crab Dip which was supposed to be served in a Sourdough Bread Boule. It arrived in a small bowl, warm with crackers. One ordered the Turkey & Fig which had no issues. One was Country Fried Steak with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were good, but the fried steak was more fried than steak. I ordered the Big Bison Burger medium well which was to be served with Carmelized Onions. There were no carmelized onions and the burger was well done. The last order was Appalachian Rueben which came with no Sauerkraut. Note, there was only other 1 table in the room we were in and maybe 6 tables occupied in the side room with 4 wait staff. It took a while when we finally asked one of the wait staff to have our waitress come out. We shared the concerns with the sauerkraut and onions missing from our repective plates and the dip being service in a cup versus and bread boule. As far as the dip, they had ran out of bread boules and had to serve in the bowl and the crackers she found she thought would be good. However, we were not informed of this when ordering. She took the Rueben back - when she went to take the bison burger back, I advised a bowl of onions would be fine. The chef came to advise he did not know that the menu called for carmelized onions and would take a good while to properly prepare. The chef claimed the cook had pulled the sauerkraut but unsure what happened. He took the plate back, brought it back with no more kraut than was on there before and w/o the fries. Took it back again and we were so frustrated. As a cook/chef I would have been embarassed to bring out what looked like a fried cheese sandwich with 2 pieces of thin deli meat - she took a the sandwich apart and made half a sandwich. The desserts listed on the menu were not availiable. This menu has been on the site for a month.
Food was cold at buffet. Trays were empty and not refilled. Servers were awful and didn't want to be bothered.
The Harvest at Mountain Lake Lodge is fantastic. Great food. Service exceptional. The atmosphere was wonderful.
Always enjoy Harvest but this visit was less than expected. Menu was very limited but in spite of the limited menu the food was simply not good. The soup was luke warm at best. Our turkey sandwich with fig jam had nothing except turkey lettuce and soggy bacon - needless to say it was tasteless. It's hard to write this because past experiences have been great. Several of the very few people in the dining room were also complaining to the front desk. Mountain Lake is a treasure - I hope they can turn this around.
Great place to visit. I didn't love my meal but I'll probably be back since I'm a Dirty Dancing fan...
We had reservations for breakfast and lunch but canceled lunch after breakfast. The food was buffet and exactly like a hotel complimentary breakfast. At 9am, the syrup was empty, two pans of eggs empty, biscuits empty. They did get refilled after someone tracked down a worker and asked. Our server never refilled my coffee. I had to go get the kettle and refill it myself. I had to go find our server to ask for the bill. We asked for separate checks and they put it on one. We are heading to the pub for lunch. Hoping for a better experience.
The biscuits and gravy on the breakfast buffet were not from scratch as the menu stated; they were not as good as what you would get at Hardee's. The only thing I found truly delicious was the sausage links; I don't think I've ever eaten any better, but everything else was average or below at best

The menu was limited and they were out of one of their three desserts. My wife ordered red snapper and was told they were out- subbed trout which was acceptable. No hot coffee after dinner. We had booked a three night stay at the Lodge- we made other dinner plans for the other two nights!!

We sent the chicken entree back because it was not cooked enough. The fish dish was over cooked and dry.
The food was good, although my husband's red snapper dinner was expensive and not the greatest. My summer salad was delicious. The service was a bit slow, but we weren't in a hurry. Some girls were having a girl's weekend and a little loud.
Absolutely awesome place. Food was great. Service was great atmosphere was great. Will be back several more times.
We were so excited to find and try this restaurant. We started off having to wait for our reservation as they were backed up. After at least an hour and a half, our food arrived, cold, wrong and undercooked. My husband asked to speak to the manager who refused to come out and talk to anyone. Our waiter, Andrew was fantastic and very apologetic. He and the man playing guitar, who was great, were the only highlights of the night.
The food selection or menu is horrible. The food is cold.
