Visiting from TX. Delicious food! On the sweeter side though. Had the oxtails & curry chicken with cabbage, peas, & rice. They were out of plantains and all patty’s when we went (1hr to close on 12/6/25). My family, that resides in VA, stated this place was a better than Carena’s in Richmond.

As an Indigenous, Jamaican, New Yorker, BBQ sauce does not equate to Jamaican food, I was very dissatisfied, with a jamaican restaurant in colonial heights, so I traveled the extra miles to Carribean kitchen in Petersburg and purchased double the amount of authentic Jamaican food, I had purchased and refunded at the other place, the prices were RIGHT, the smell of Jamaican food wreaked out of the door, they served all kinds of Patty's, the cook and host customer service was beyond exceptional, and the food was DELICIOUS brown stew fish rice and peas cabbage and curry chicken and double cabbage sides and 3 veggie pattys. Not to mention customers never stopped coming in while I waited 20 minutes for the meal to be prepared. Will definetely go back again to try every meal.

I have visited this spot 3x and was hired to do a balloon decor for a private event here. The food was catered by the restaurant....OMG.. everything was delicious, pepper steak, curry chicken, rice and peas, cabbage and the macaroni, was so so flavorful... I was concerned about the parking... it's plenty of parking in the back... The owners were on site for the event.. and that made for a great time. Will recommend for future clients to consider The Caribbean kitchen.

My Wife and I found this hidden gem on Google while waiting to have our oil changed. Very good food. Good prices. Great atmosphere whether taking out or dining in. Hardly any wait. Plenty of seating. Very professional. Good music!

I love this restaurant! I used to always go to Carena’s for oxtails but they fell off tremendously flavor-wise the last 2 times I went. Here at Caribbean Kitchen, I’m always satisfied with my food! The oxtail, rice & peas, and gravy is flavorful and the meat is so tender. They never skimp on portions!! They are #1 in my book!

Yesterday we wanted Caribbean ox tails and brown stew chicken, we come here often and it is a hit or miss. We stopped doing thw rice because of the burnt or scorched taste, so now we do double cabbage. Nooooowwww sometimes cabbage is great and flavored., sometimes its just blah. Last night we had our mouth set and DISAPPOINTED! I was charged 18.50 for a small and it had 2 days of food and in the wrong size container than what is displayed. #2 my husband's extra gravy was in the bag spilled everywhere, our food containers were messy, and broken like they played Frisbee with them. $58+ a disappointment. Carribean Kitchen please do better, don't mind patronizing your business but please make it worth our hard earned $$.
