I Love going to this place. Great food great prices. Such nice servers and attentive. The surrounding decor is rather nice. Very stimulating in the fact that it will put a smile on your face. 95% of the menu I just love. That being said, I just haven't eaten everything yet. Lol. Obviously I enjoy going there. It being located where they are, makes it a pleasant and not so crowded environment. I love this place for all my Mexican food. Remind me of how my mom and aunt cooked. Love

Super surprised by this place. We ordered tacos and they were so packed with meat and delicious. The guac salsa they had tastes exactly like the one I love back in Cali. Rice and beans were on point. This will definitely be our go to Mexican spot. And the staff was so friendly. We did a pick up order and gave us plenty of salsa and toppings.

Location: Not bad even though it's on Washington Street in Petersburg but it's closer to the Dinwiddie County line so your safe Drink: Michelada's where tasty but with such large glasses you need more than an average size straw also please teach your staff about drinks. When adults ask for a drink menu don't point to the soda menu on the back page. Food: Average tasting tacos for the Taco Tuesday Special and don't go by the website because on the website it's posted as $1 each with purchase of a drink but when you walk in the restaurant there's a sign on the hostess stand "DUE TO INFLATION THE TACO TUESDAY SPECIAL IS $1.99" Service: Extremely slow when there were only 3 tables including mine in the restaurant at 5pm on a Tuesday. Had to ask for a refill on the complimentary chips because we had 1/3 basket of crumbs. Asked for our taco specials to come out with no cheese or lettuce. We wanted them street taco style with just onion and cilantro. NOPE!!! Cheese and lettuce is what we got. Price: Only spent $30 with tip so not bad. OVERALL: Aside from the Michelada only an OK experience. Won't go back. Was truly hoping for something half decent so we don't have to travel too far but it's Petersburg so you get what you pay for in this location.

I was searching for some great food and wanted to try out some place new. I decided to check out the Don Quixote Mexican Grill in Petersburg. I went there and the place was lit up on a Friday evening. I walked from the parking lot and while walking to the door, I saw smiling facing and groups that seemed to be enjoying themselves. I was excited to check things out. I walked inside and was immediately welcomed by a smiling host. He was warm and welcoming and sat me rather quickly. When walking to my table, I saw a couple of groups and they were sharing a variety of foods that looked and smelled great. A couple of the tables ordered buckets of beer with limes sticking out the of tops. I thought it was a fun touch and a way to share a beer with your friends. I was seated and they immediately brought out some chips, salsa, and salsa blanco. The chips were fresh and warm and the salsa was tasty with a small kick. The waiter came over after a couple of minutes and took my drink order. He asked if I had any questions about the menu and even offered a couple of suggestions. I decided on the Chori-pollo and it came with rice and beans. The food came out very quickly and everything was piping hot. The food was so flavorful and juicy. The rice and beans were tasty and complemented the chicken and chorizo. I was delighted. It even came with some tortillas wrapped in some foil. Everything was delicious. They came to check on me and my cup was constantly refilled and I even got a refill on the chips. It was as great time to chill and relax after a busy week. I ordered some food to take some, so I could enjoy it the next day. I will be back. Tip: please come hungry, because the portions are generous and tasty.

Clean. Attentive staff. Some of the better Mexican food I've had in VA. The green and hot salsa were very flavorful. They do have the creepy white sauce that this area is freakishly fond of. I love that they have us some chipotle hot sauce instead when we asked. The portions are ridiculous. Margarita was a sugar bomb (but is seems ya'll like it sweet here) and huge. Would return.

Went here based on a review on the Lakeside FB page picture. Ordered the, cannot spell and dont feel like looking up, fried pork bites (maybe belly). Unfortunately, ours were way over fried. Very dark brown and a hard chew. If not over cooked; would be awesome! We ate a couple but left the rest. The place is small and very clean. Very nice staff. Real coke, in the bottle, with a cup of ice. Cane sugar... it is different, if you didn't know. Therefore, no refills here. Also, you do not get free chips and salsa just for sitting at a table. You will pay about 5.00 for chips and salsa, you want cheese dip? Another 5.00. Fine. Do you want authentic flavor? (My opinion) Shed your Americanized view of hispanic foods. Look at the menu, you get the chance to eat things that you've only seen on the Food Network or if you were in an hispanic country. We also had a taco salad. Lovely and crispy. The bottom layer was some hot red sauce (both in heat and nicely spiced - so delish, not killer) - rice, shredded cheese, steak bits (chix or shrimp is also an option) iceberg lettuce (not uniformly shredded), guac, sour cream, few diced tomatoes and a bit more shredded cheese (mostly yellow - assume cheddar but to little to tell)Bottom line. The taco salad was awesome - get a fork-ful of it all. All of the flavors blended. We loved that the steak was charred but still tender. Tiny diced bites of diced steak, but it was good! We would have like a medium cook, yet charred - but even fully cooked, they know how to slice the steak, so it was not chewy. After you eat here.... Go a couple doors down for the in-house made ice cream. Try the pine nut "pinion' - or any that strikes your fancy. Put it on your list.

The food was good. I had the taco salad with beef. The chips and salsa were fresh and the white sauce was amazing. The service was ok not the greatest but he was friendly. I really wanted birria tacos but they did not have them. I would come back.

Went on Valentine's Day . It was good ! Wish the Al pastor was a litttlllee more sweet tho. I appreciated the sauces . The sandwich my husband got was huge and filling! A little pricey for what I thought we were getting (prices were different on the website/pictures) they increased.

Happy Valentine's Day!!! Or for me, Happy Taco Tuesday!! Tacos over vatos!!! When we first parked we thought we were in trouble because the parking lot was PACKED, but we were quickly seated when we entered (almost all tables were occupied). The waitress quickly came to get our drink order and was very nice. I'm doing 4 stars just because of the limited drink options (just margaritas) and the fact that the drink special was a lime margarita (not my favorite) HOWEVER, my drink was pretty tasty and had enough alcohol content for me. I ordered the pollo talk too and it was DELICIOUS!! I think this is the tastiest of all the places that I've ordered this dish. They had the place decorated for Valentine's Day and each table had a little dish of candy...they thought of everything!! I will definitely be back!!!

The food was delicious. I had the El Barco and my friend ordered chicken nachos. The salsa was made to perfection. The waitress, however, left much to be desired. We had to ask several times for napkins. We waited a long time for her to take our order and we never received our check.
