Nice place to go with family and friends. Wonderful food and beautiful place. I recommend the turkey chops and the shrimp. We loved it. It was my father’s birthday and after dinner they even gave us cake.

As I eat my Big Back Dinner, 2pc Whitings with green beans and yams, I feel I have reach a place of serenity. The meal is so seasoned and delicious. Every bite reminds me of grandma and mommy's soul food cooking. Rest in peace ladies! The food reminds me of them so much. The atmosphere is so peaceful and clean.

This was my first time visiting Big Back Eatery. The sweet chili sauce was good; however, the wings did not taste fresh, and the French fries looked like they had been sitting in grease for a while. I was expecting the food to be much better based on what I had heard.
I was also given all drumsticks, which I did not request. I assumed the order would include a mix of wings and drumettes.
While I really enjoyed the atmosphere and overall environment of the restaurant, the food itself was disappointing. At this time, I would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience. Hopefully, this was just an off day and the cashier needs to put on a smile on her face.

I was really excited to come here and I’m actually really disappointed. My turkey leg was over cooked and the sauce made it hard to eat. Mac and cheese had no seasoning but yams were very good. The food was under performing to me but honestly the most disappointed part is the service. The young woman in the front isn’t friendly and men loiter in the front and watch you eat and stare. It makes it hard to eat and the environment is overall creep. There’s a reason the parking lot is empty.

Today we visited Big Back Eatery, and it was absolutely worth the trip! I ordered the turkey wings, yams, and cabbage — everything was seasoned perfectly and full of flavor.
I drove all the way back to North Carolina from Portsmouth, VA, and even after an hour on the road, the food was still warm and delicious. The portion size, presentation, and temperature were all on point.
The wait for my food was reasonable, and the overall experience was fantastic. I can’t express enough how satisfied I was — I’ll definitely be back!
I should’ve listened to the reviews before ordering from here. I let my stomach get the best of me because the food was horrible. I ordered the salmon and rice bowl. The salmon was still raw, rice was not fresh, onions and peppers seemed to be on the old side. Ordered the banana pudding because I was told it was fresh, but I never had banana pudding so expensive without any bananas in it. The portion size was small for the price. Overall, I will never eat here again because I don't do raw meat and unfresh food! Not to mention I was harassed by some man standing by the register that was talking to the cashier. I can honestly discredit the guy next door that said the food was good but the wait was long…because my experience was the opposite!
